A jarring drop in recent behaviour and staff approach
Hello, I won’t be mentioning what year I am currently in, though I am currently in the senior school. I have been in PGS since I was 2 and 1/2, and it has only gone downhill. My main issues are with the pupils and staff, (not all but the majority), as poor behaviour has risen and care descending. The sanction system said to fix everything still makes little sense, dangling detentions or even warnings that go on the system over pupil’s heads and never giving them, despite being deserving of them....

Some amazing teachers at PGS
There are some incredible teachers at the Portsmouth Grammar School. They have had an invaluable influence on our children going through the years, they couldn't have achieved all their successes without them. Thank you.

I used to enjoy being a Teacher at PGS, but felt I had to leave due to the school going down hill since the previous Headteacher left and the new one appointed. Since this point the school is now an uncomfortable place to work because of the poor standard it is now functioning at, with quantity of pupils being enrolled taking precedence over the quality of pupils. The affects of this is causing teaching staff to no longer being able to teach to the high standard expected of a grammar school due...

Appalling school
Absolutely dreadful school unless your child is very academic. My child left in year 9 with a reading age of a 7 year old. They have no provision for neurodiversity at all and do whatever they can to get rid of the child. They punish and punish until your child feels worthless and suicidal. I thought paying for education was the best for my child I was completely wrong. They are a business driven by results and have no care for a child’s mental well being. If you have an academic child who wants to learn there are way better schools than this one

Bullying, abuse, racism
I have been an upper senior school student who has experienced abuse and bullying and my friends also racism, where some younger friends also have had physical violence. These low life pupils doing all this shouldn’t even be at PGS but either get in just because their parents can afford it or they have some connection with school staff. The Head teacher is in denial and full of excuses of the behaviour problems at PGS school and would rather try smoke screen when questioned about issues raised. Carry on with your idiotic ‘We are PGS, one community’ in denial statement rubbish during your school assemblies, that have no real credence at all and are just empty words. where me and friends roll our eyes and just laugh at this rubbish drivel. Head teacher is in the wrong job, should be a politician - doesn’t own issues and continues with drivel of lies. Avoid Portsmouth Grammar School, it is overrated and relies on false advertising that it is something special when it is not, there are much nicer schools out there.

Dictating, discriminatory, and their authority is their only comeback
I am taking about the high school. I joined this school this year in September. I am in year seven and so far the school is quite bad. Free speech is forbidden and the rules in this school are racist. I am an anti racist and part of the schools diversity and inclusion society which is there solely for the school not to listen to at all
