Could be better

I would say it is a great school if you are anxious or struggling with your mental health as it is a small school so can cater well to individual needs, however, over time I believe it has declined as the now headteacher seems to act just as childishly as the children. She can be quite petty and rude, and always pulls favourites. To be honest, she is the main reason I no longer encourage people towards the school. Additionally, the school it lacking in the canteen with extremely unfriendly staff and poor options for vegetarians and zero options for vegans. However, the school does offer a variety of clubs and exciting opportunities like challenge week and the race team etc. I believe that it is a very good school overall with some very caring and attentive teacher, there just needs to be some adjustments higher up in the school.

TSS REVIEW

When I joined, the school was great. Now however, it’s going down. The teachers are getting more strict and punishments are getting unreasonable as well as the teachers in charge of punishments having a very single minded mindset and biased opinions when dealing with trouble. When I was in year 7 I definitely would have recommended this school, now however, my mind is changing

Better than other local school

Pretty good school overall, better than the other local secondary. Pretty clean and feels very light and open. The facilities are good being quite a new school. Most of the teacher are okay and there are people you can speak to however the safeguarding team don't have the best reputation. Some teachers know how to talk about mental health and provide support but others put far too much pressure on students and make things worse. From experience there a couple of teachers who have driven students to panic attacks and walking out of school because they are so harsh and believe their teaching/subjects comes above everything else. The school is very supportive of lgbtq+ people and usually take homophobia very seriously.

GCSE

Review

Great Secondary School for the area.

Has a very supportive environment and great for LGBTQ+ kids.

Teachers are lovely and by year 11 you feel like you could be friends with them.

GCSE work was quite overwhelming and teachers unintentionally pushed way too much pressure onto Kids(especially being the first year withe exams) but is manageable.

Did have problems in the past with students as well as sometimes not doing the best things or putting to much effort into unnecessary additions.

Overall would recommend and much better than most secondary schools in the area.

Its an okay school however the safeguarding team are overbearing to a damaging level on the students, i would strongly recommend staying away from the schools safeguarding team as it is more harm than good to the students. Its a very accepting friendly environment socially though and has less issues than some of the bigger schools would have. This school has very engaging lessons and more of a one to one tutoring aspect than other schools. School is friendly for lgb students however it isn't the best environment for transgender youth with transphobic higher ups working in the school. Few occasions where teachers sexualised students which made them uncomfortable. The school can accommodate disabled students however may not be the best place for neurodiverse students as the teachers dont know how to accommodate to nd students mental well-being and learning needs.

Best secondary in the area

Amazing school, I’ve been to both Swanage and purbeck school and from mine and most of my friends experiences it’s one of the best schools you will find. Swanage beats purbeck easily both with the environment and academic experience.
