The school could improve

Miss rigby has started to make a LGBTQIA+ group to make the school be more accepting which I am very proud of and to be part of that journey

The art teacher needs to be better
Because of her trying to make my art into her art during exams, stressing me out i was predicted a 6 and got a 2, didnt get into the course for college that I wanted thanks to her

Please make the school more accepting for people of autism or people who go mute
Like get them communication cards ACTUAL ONES not the thumb up, thumb down ones
How do you communicate with those-

Parental view

Have to say my son goes to Telford Park the experience we have had is so different to the previous comments.
My son started in year 7 was ok to begin with then started to act out of character being unruly swearing , throwing things etc.
It got to the point of him almost being expelled..We had numerous meetings with the school, things were put in place for him.
The school were AMAZING .Never giving up on him,
He is now settled and exceeding all of his goals.Has lots of friends and is a lot happier.
I cannot thank the head teacher and Mr Ward enough for their perseverance and belief in my son.
They get a lot of grief but in our experience have gone above and beyond.

Terrible

I heard that you have to be walked to the bathroom now even if you have a toilet pass,
a friend told me you can get a C5 for using the lift when you have a reason to do so, because it's ''not acceptable'' when it is an actual reason,
the food is way too expensive,
their 'best' teachers have ruined way too many kids' mental health,
if you need to borrow a tie from the school you have to give them an item of yours that's 'worth' the same amount as the tie.
for example
A tie is apparently worth as much as a phone,
when you feel like you're going to pass out the teachers will tell you to go down the stairs or up the stairs when if you faint you will hit your head on the stairs and end up in the hospital when the classroom you have to go to is like halfway across the hall
Also, if a teacher said to go and get an ice pack for a serious injury then you go to the student pod, the student pod will be like ''no you are wasting our time''
SO, THE STUDENT GOT TOLD BY A TEACHER AND TO YOU ITS A WASTE OF TIME WHEN THEY ARE IN SERIOUS PAIN?

I don't recommend this school at all

Joke of a school

Teachers lie to your face to make themselves look good if there's a problem evidence miraculously dissapears to suit there needs they do not support children with extra needs there more concerned with there star pupils and nothing will get in the way of that so they exclude pupils like it's going out of fashion even for asking questions sometimes in class it's ridiculous pupils get there head kicked in but if it's a star pupil the victim gets excluded there's pupils that bring knives into the school nothing happens it needs new management as the current have no idea only about there statistics not about the children

Not a good school. The staff don't do anything when something bad happens

Disappointed... could've done a lot more to help.

Ex student here.
I had spent 5 years at this school,

And it saddens me to say that the time I had spent at this school had left me in therapy dealing with trauma that could've been easily avoided.

Teachers were oblivious to the fact kids are being bullied, from experience I know this. On top of all of it o reached out to the staff for help for 3 years straight, yet none of them batted an eyelash.

It took me to to nearly snap for them to finally do something...

I had been referred to a counsellor at the school for a few months before they discharged me claiming there was nothing wrong with me.
Even after I had broken down crying, begging for them to "help me" because I was terrified that I'd hurt someone.

The lack of care for the students mental well-being is astonishing.

It took until year 10 for me to finally receive help, and it wasn't even the school that helped me it was my GP. After they referred me to CAMS for hallucinations and suicidal tendencies.
School only agreed to do something after I went to therapy with CAMS and police action was threatened.

Don't get me wrong. They did a good job once it was finally dealt with, an entire lesson was halted to lecture them on how bullying was bad.
Though I personally think they should've done something more than just a telling off.

After all it wasn't just a few kids being mean. It was the entirety of the two sets that I was in, all because I had a health issue that I couldn't help at the time.
(I'm no longer struggling with this issue, so I'm assuming it was heavily linked to the stress I had while at the school)

Teachers themselves are kind, however completely ignorant of half the problems the students have to deal with.

The only thing that they could catch easily was if a student was physically harming themselves, even then it was only because another student reported it.

It's taken for me to go to college to realise how much Telford Park has failed both me and the other students.
They've always complained about behaviour issues, but if they actually did something to help those who are being an "issue" maybe the schools reputation would be higher.

I had failed in multiple subjects because I was left picking up the pieces and having to deal with constant panic attacks.

And all of this could of been avoided if they took the students seriously when they ask for help.

However this is only my story, many other people have had to suffer in silence, both my classmates and those In the years below me.

My sympathy is to the students and the actual good teachers, those who helped me and my friends find a comfort spot to finally feel safe in.

Also fights are very regular on site and next to the bus stop as well, however they only catch about 90% of them. Others are caught because of videos being shared of the fights online.

Terrible School

I joined the school about 2 years ago and all this school has done is mess me around and try to convince me that I have problems just because I refuse to talk to people, my teachers love to make me feel irrelevant or purposely pick me to answer questions and stuff. I've generally had a really bad time and it ruined me as a person, I used to be a really outgoing person but since joining I've became extremely quiet and I can't even make eye contact anymore so I have no friends and get hated on just for that. Don't join this school unless you want to ruin your life.
