safety for students

i had FIVE boys in my year (2021-2026) be reported for sexual harassment and assault and nothing happened to any of them, absolutely no repercussions. the most that happened was a talking to and miraculously one actually got a weeks suspension after literally threatening a girl by saying he would [r] her.

when my friend confronted a boy about sexually assaulting her outside of school over messages due to being too scared to do it in real life, he reported *her* to head of year and *she* got in trouble. there was no sympathy outside of being told "you should have told your mum so she would tell the police". they didn't care at all because it happened before he joined the school and outside of school. keep in mind in the messages she even referenced him doing this to multiple other girls which is a well known fact within our year.

this is not a safe place for students no matter how much they try to plaster it all over their advertisements, and even after these boys (two of which where reported multiple times over the years) have been outed to our head of years due to their behaviour, they still treated them with kindness and respect and would joke around with them while clearly holding a form of prejudice against the girls who reported said boys.

outside of this there are other issues like the way racism, homophobia, and bullying in general is handled as well as the way some teachers treat students (like pe teachers towards students with health conditions + the treatment of neurodivergent students). but throughout my time in this school, this is what has hit me hardest the most. they do not condition these boys to recognise their ill behaviours and are instead teaching them that they'll get away with it.

this is *not* a safe place for your child/ren. and i cannot wait for exams to be over so that i never have to step foot into it again.

the only bonus is that there are a group of teachers who truly do care and actually like the students and being a teacher, but a lot of them genuinely will make it a living hell for the students.

Do not send you child to this school.

The Thomas Lord Audley School is not a place you want to send your child. This school is a nightmare. I am a student at TLA, and I honestly don't wish this school upon anyone.
My reasons why are that the school dose absolutley nothing about bullying. I had an incident in school where I was pushed into lockers and pushed down stairs. You could see this all on the school's security cameras, and they told me they "cannot do anything as just a minor incident and could have been an accident", but I had gone to a teacher a couple of days before to explain how we fell out and that she was bullying me inside and outside of school. She put me in counselling and told me they would help, but they didn't. The school had made me out to be dramatic. This happened when I was a year 8 student and had a lot going on at home, as my parents were divorcing and bullying on top of that, and the counsellor laughed at her trauma and told me everyone goes through that, which is ridiculous. I am surprised at the behaviour of this, especially as the teachers go around talking about students to other students, which is unacceptable considering school is meant to be a safe environment for us

average

weirdest three years of my life smh
personally wouldn't recommend but if you're forced to go there then.... well. keep your head down and follow the crowd bestie
also, if you're bullied - nothing is done. it's better to handle it yourself rather than bother reporting it. got told by x they're gonna bash my head against the fence and nobody really got concerned.

Sending your child here? Prepare for the worst

Unfortunately having a school in the centre of Monkwick isn’t going to end well. Crass and loutish behaviour in every year, rough and violent environment for students. Sending your children here is signing them up to crime and gangs.

As for the education itself, it’s average. Some teachers are good and helpful, others aren’t. From what I’ve seen the student is always powerless against the teachers and staff regardless of who’s in the right. Some very good school trips but most are massively overpriced. I would not recommend this school and it needs serious improvement, but I’m not sure if that will happen due to the location.

My review :)

So far my experience has been good, I haven’t sadly had the full experience due to covid, but from everything I have experienced so far it’s amazing :)

Teachers need consequences

Good education but consequences for teachers need to be bigger, a certain teacher had multiple warnings from experiences of belittling children and talking with them about things that aren’t appropriate for a teacher to be discussing with students. This same teacher also did a students coursework for them while the students did each others hair

Terrible

Terrible staff, never helped me with homework or work inside of school, the disciplinary action doesn’t work and the school never helped me be comfortable in my own skin. The process for helping Transgender and Non-Binary students takes up to 6 months for a name change on the system and there is no consequences for racist, homophobic, xenophobic, sexist students.
