Rotten leadership from the very top

Valley has a reputation for being the school in the area that everyone wants to go to. We moved house to get into the catchment area. What a mistake.

The culture in the school is one of prioritising academic achievement and competitive sporting success over the wellbeing of the kids. This comes from the head teacher down.

During covid they ignored the children for weeks on end, not even checking in on them. There is no interest in helping any child to thrive who isn't a top performer.

There are a few good teachers trying their best but the attitude of the head has forced most of them out.

All communication from the school is extremely condescending and of a tone that repeatedly threatens children and parents for things like minor uniform infractions. The latest is threatening to not provide school lunches and publicly shame a child for a dinner account being ten pounds overdrawn.

The worst I saw from them was an email home pointing out the word 'resilience' was in the school motto and saying that meant the children should solve their own problems and stop contacting (bothering) the teachers for help and support. Pretty shameful stuff.

I wish I hadn't sent my son to this school. We have chosen to send my other child to a different school at great inconvenience to us - one that actually cares about him.

Not good enough

I went here and the and the majority of the teachers were really strict (most of which still teach now). The new head has turned it into a glorified prison yard where the children don’t get to grow and develop personalities.

could be better

i dont like this school, i think its honestly really strict i feel as though students cant express theirselves in any way, shape or form and most of the teachers are horrible to you
