Approach with caution if you're not a local

I'm not a local, and that probably was the main reason why I had a bad experience there. I (F16), have just graduated and am now in college, and I had moved around in various places and gone to many schools, and West Craven was my last highschool that I transferred too.

I experienced things that other students in my year group haven't, and it certainly didn't help me settle in. I definitely didn't help that the teachers who also happened to be locals and had been at the school for a while also shared similar mindsets as the students. I am enterally grateful for the new teachers that had transferred from outside of the local area into the school, but I wish that I wasn't forced to accept that I would never fit into West Craven simply because I wasn't Bron and Raised in Barnoldswick.

If you are born outside of the local area, and you can quickly adapt to the Barnoldswick mindset, then good for you, but I definitely do not recommend attending if you have hardships with negative social media, a fragile mental health, or strong empathy, because Barnoldswick is a very close knit community that is spoon-fed the messed up phrase "suck it up, and carry on"

eh weird

i’m in year nine now and since year 7 we’ve had a lot of changes with very little stability in teachers and timetables and stuff like that. one thing is that many teachers and staff take some things too seriously and others not serious enough for example at one point if you were showing sh scars on your arms you had to cover up or get an isolation. all in all i think it’s getting better but they care more about ticking ofsted boxes than the pupils

Love it

I just started year 7 here and all of the teachers are so welcoming and nice I would recommend it to any nervous year 7s as everyone is just lovely there. Food is amazing too.
