Woking High School

Woking high school do not help with bullying at all! All they do is make a child apologise thinking that would make that better but it does not as you can tell!

Extremely troubling experience at this school in the early 00s. A teacher was repeatedly inappropriate with me and my friends on a recurrent basis. Despite knowing this was occurring, the school did absolutely nothing to protect us or challenge the behaviour. Long after we had left she continued the behaviour with others with it only ending as she had retired. This school is single handedly responsible for many of the distressing conditions I have grown up with.

Great school, outstanding grades, supportive staff, welcoming students, all round lovely environment to be in.

Most teachers do not listen to students about their concerns or problems, an example of this that I had personally faced is being a set 1 (top set) English class trying to match the abilities with probably the smartest kids in the area, I honestly feel that they put me there as they couldn’t be bothered to properly look where my actual level in English was so instead they matched it with my maths as they assumed I was good at both (I was not). It was clear from the get go I wasn’t at the same level as the other kids in the class so I asked to be moved down to set 2 or 3. I was ignored, so therefore my English also went down in grades. Now year 7 wasn’t that bad in this state as there were others in my class who had a mediocre level of English, however, when it got to year 8 and 9 I was failing so multiple times throughout these years I asked time and time again to be moved. Once again I was ignored and fell into a depression. Once year 10 came round the corner people were instead moved into mixed ability classes which did improve my grade however from the previous years of being ignored I even went as far as bunking my English classes as they again ignored my wishes to move classes as I was alone in this class and no body to even call a friendly acquaintance I understand why they couldn’t do this further in the year but I asked in September which only had a couple of changes but nothing major. But I was ignored. At the end I got a 6 in English but this could of been majorly improved if they had listened. Another problem I find with this school is that they concentrate WAY too much on uniform standards then actually learning. They go to the extremes for you to go into isolation (focus) for going as far as wearing to studs on your earlobes. Now as the good part of the school there are a few teachers who are very good at their job and go out of your way to help you such as my history teacher, my English teachers, my Media BTEC teacher and my art teacher as they pushed me to do my best in my GCSEs (I didn’t mention their names as I didn’t want to leak their identities). The school is also pretty shit at actual announcements that students need to hear for example me and my dad had repeatedly rang the school asking about yearbooks and jumpers from October 2020 to February 2021 and the office repeatedly told us they didn’t know. In March 2021 we rang again and they told us to email one the teachers that had told us we missed the payed date back in November 2020 so I had to work around a vast amount of problems to be able to get them which could of been avoided just through the means of better organisation and the school to get its priorities straight
