I went to this school and made friends that I am still friends with today, one works for KPMG and earns big money, I did well here and went university because the teachers helped me and pushed me. They work hard to help you get the best grade. I am the first of my family to go to uni and now my brothers go here. Big Up Woolwich Poly!
A very good school where my son did exceptionally well.
Woolwich Poly Boys has achieved amazing things for my son. Despite what people may think of Thamemead and Woolwich it is a safe school and they are very good with pastoral care. I think is important as a parent to write about this school in a true reflection as people normally only post bad information rather than good. My son left this year and they were the only school in the area that was given GOOD by Ofsted; St Pauls and Plumstead are both judged RI. My son and several of his friends went off to Russell Group universities, and got two As and a B to study medicine. For GCSEs he got all 8s and 9s, he did not pass his 11 plus and made amazing amount of progress in this time, we were very worried as parents but support from us and the school helped him achieve great things and I am very proud of him. The teachers at this school go over and beyond. They work tirelessly to get the best out of every child. And like any school there are pupils that can be badly behaved but these are supported and dealt with. I see staff in the local area till late making sure the children go home safely and I don't see this with other schools in the area when I drive past picking my daughter up after school.
I’ve had a really tough experience at this school. There seem to be quite a few issues, with kids often shouting and the teachers struggling to manage the noise. They're shouting too. It feels a bit chaotic at times.
When my son got sick, I reported it through the studybug app, which recommended he stay at home for 48 hours due to vomiting. Unfortunately, the school marked his absence as unauthorized arbitrarily, which felt frustrating since they didn't seem to follow NHS guidelines. It really makes you wonder about their approach—it's as if every sick child should just push through and come to school, which seems unreasonable.
I've also noticed some unfortunate incidents at the school, like children getting hurt at the gate due to staff shortages and some issues with physical bullying. It seems like a lot of the kids are quite disrespectful, and the support staff don’t seem to be addressing these challenges effectively.
So many different apps they need to use and no help when needed. School doesn't answer email or just rarely.
My son had been home educated for 3.5 years, and after just two months of being back in school, I'm starting to doubt that decision. It's been a disappointing experience so far.
Worst school ever I can't even write a review on the main school Google Maps thing because they remove all reviews recently made so you can only see reviews made from 2 years ago. They don't want people to know how bad that school is they are embarrassing and I can't believe I attend here. I had no choice but to attend this school as the council put me here I hate this school. This school makes me want to kill myself. But someone had to go to refocus)/isolation because they didn't have a pen and teachers are dating and it's so disgusting I hate it here don't come here unless you want to torture yourself and your child.
Their horrible to people what they said to me school should not be perfect not everybody is nice these people are nasty and you know what if you do love your children dont send them there and if you do make sure they can defend themselves. Most teachers are as nasty as students and there only 13 year olds.everyone you'll meet us fake nothing they say they actually mean there very rood people all of them.
teachers always pick on you and expects you to know the answer like its so annoying they always discourage you when you say 'i dont know' saying stuff like "thats not acceptable pay attention more next time" like no, do you think we give shit about education... NO like school shouldnt even be a thing because stuff like this will just discourage people (school is also the reason why we are all emo)
yes i rather be sent to a farm to learn from a cow at least its better than being abused by teachers
There are better secondary schools/sixth forms in Greenwich
Just finished my university course. Was here from 2009-2016. The secondary school is average at best, and the sixth form is pretty bad. I hope that it is much better now! Looking back, the headteacher at the time did not do enough, which led to problems with students and staff that I have not experienced since I have left. They were very good at lording up the place and making out like other schools and universities were worse which was a lie. Statistically at least, there are better sixth forms and secondary schools in the area, which I wish I knew earlier. Everything the other review said is also true.
A bad school .Bullying is everywhere .*** **** ******** *** ***** *** *********.The PE teachers are body shaming .There is no sense of discipline either .They religiously follow the one way system and are far more concerned about the colour of your socks than what they teach you .The humanities block is ok but is in a very bad condition from the outside .They only repair and maintain the facade of the school as to make it look nice to visitors. The canteen is horribly packed and in year 7&8 you are made to be packed like sardines in a tin can waiting for your food. You are also given an hour detention when you’re late by a few minutes when I was there and that’s so ableist and horrible if you actually think about it. All in all a poor school at best.
Send your child to a farm and they would learn more from the cows .
