A wonderful, compassionate school
This is our second secondary school for my 13-year-old son and we have experienced three primary schools (one an infant school) so we have had our fair share of school experience! Altwood is a refreshingly compassionate secondary school for my academic autistic son. The school runs with this compassionate ethos and it has brilliant teachers, some of which are the best we have known (and we have been through two outstanding primary schools with private benefactors keeping them resourced like private schools!) My son’s grades are some of the best he has had. There are very few sub teachers. The smaller size means teachers get to know my son and therefore are more helpful and supportive. The school offers lunchtime clubs for kids who are less sports’ inclined, such as craft, board games, chess, drama. After school clubs too!. Communication by the current Headteacher is excellent. Matters are solved swiftly and with kindness, and the school will adjust whatever they can to meet the needs of my son because they want him to succeed. He is happy and this is all any parent could want. We wish the school continued success.

absolute hellhole
this school, if you can even call it that, causes me more problems than it has EVER solved. the kids? most of them are egotistical assholes and/or homophobic. the teachers? while a select few are good, the rest are terrible and can rarely control the class, and instead resort to sending kids to cool off at the slightest hint of disobedience. and instead of giving help to those who are behind, just treat them terribly. all in all, shitty school, don’t send your kids here

Altwood School
This school is terrible. I regret ever sending my children there. They don’t take appropriate measures in protecting the children in their care, whether it’s their attitude towards children’s needs and/or behaviour or their well-being. I’m utterly disgusted with most of the staff and how they choose to treat the children and carers. Utterly rude and cruel to both. Wish I never sent my child there
Terrible school, awful teachers bringing down kids constantly. A teacher told my child they’d get no where in life.

Pretty bad if u ask me
There are some aspects which are all right ig but others not. The students are awful, constantly starting drama over nothing and are extremely homophobic I’ve been Calle the f slur multiple times and the teachers don’t even know what a slur is. Safeguarding is up the f*** Most of the teachers can’t control the class so we mostly just have a lesson on how to yell qt obviously distressed students I understand that it’s an incredibly small school but the learning gap between the 2 sets in the...

Altwood
This school is ok I learn sometimes but is not very accommodating half the teachers can’t control the class some of the teachers swear in there class some of the teachers can’t even teach at all you are put on report when you didn’t even deserve it there is blatant favouritism and they are sexist they don’t do anything when it comes to bullying especially homophobia the re lessons on homosexuality is very offending and not very considerate I would not recommend this school to anyone all my friends are leaving the school because it is bad
