Review of Ashfield school, past and present.

I will share my experiences from my time during school- If you're thinking on sending your children to Ashfield, please reconsider- I am having to go through counselling and therapy and have been for 3 years now.

When I was a student there, I was frequently harassed, threatened and outright followed sometimes. I had to constantly fight and run from kids threatening to kill me and stab me and even outright gut me whilst flashing knives from their pockets. And when I attempted to report these people to the staff they would only shrug and go up to the said people I had reported and practically tell them who told on them.

In my last years I requested to change house (The area of the school you go to for tutor time, a sort of attendance take for the starting day) due to Literally being told to kill myself and frequently targeted, they allowed me to change but literally put me into a house with people who smoked marijuana and even mentioned doing heroin. I also often noticed either security guards or police patrolling around the school (its been some time since then, so take that part with a grain of salt). They'll claim they're safe, They'll claim they're the best- yet, Will take your trust and shred it into pieces only for them to then smear rudeness and dishonesty on top of it with a hint of questionable business practices- and then have the audacity to ask for outrageous prices for basic necessities such as uniform, food and bus travel.

The only good part was SOME of the staff that cared- but they knew they wouldn't be listened to by management for getting additional resources to deal with students who would act out within class. The reason why I say SOME staff is because most would either not care and would directly allow students to do whatever, For example; Throw rulers, pens, compasses and even sometimes literal coins and would threaten to throw even chairs, this isn't even mentioning the threats to staff or direct action- Yet if we read any official Ofsted reports its either good reviews or 'outstanding', yet the community surrounding the school paints us a different story.

During my time as well, there were alleged rumours about some staff being weird or creepy to women and children. this is also followed by them directly lying to parents and children and locking them into situations that are unescapable due to time limitations, For example; Lying to you about what courses they've picked, Lying to parents about chain of events and more.

To conclude, know this; If you send your children to this school- you will have to fight tooth and nail for them to even be noticed by the school let alone acknowledged, They'll prefer to fan the flames and pretend your problems doesn't exist. Your children will be put into environments similar to literal prisons and will be forced to join groups or Fake gangs to even have a resemblance of safety.

I've read other reviews from more recent times, I've also interacted with parents and post 16 students and it only confirms their lack of commitment to; Disabled students, student safety, Educational importance and honesty from school to parent and child interactions. I heavily encourage parents and potential employee's to read EVERY review that you can get your hands on- During 2021 they had taken down the reviews tab on google maps- Thus losing countless good and bad reviews over the span from 2016-2021.

If you have disabled children or children who struggle with ; social interactions, dyslexia and more, please search up 'R.E.A.L education' Former teachers from the school have recommended them and having grown up with their old befriending scheme, I can recommend them heavily and if you believe I am biased you can also look at their reviews. Just for the love of god, do not send your children here- Thank you and goodbye.

Worst school ever

This school is absolutely exhausting. If you struggle with a subject, you receive no proper support unless you’re the type of pupil who refuses to do any work, walks out of lessons, or is considered ‘special’. If you don’t fit into one of these categories, the only advice you get is to ‘try harder,’ which is completely unhelpful.

The teachers are incredibly passive-aggressive and offer little to no assistance. I had a maths teacher who would roll her eyes whenever I asked for help, only to dismiss me with, ‘I’ve just shown that on the board,’ before walking off. It’s painfully obvious that certain pupils are the favourites, receiving far more attention and support, while the rest of us are left to struggle. It’s unfair and demoralising.

To make matters worse, the school rewards bad behaviour. Pupils who misbehave are bribed with treats or even money just to show up, while those of us who attend every day and actually put in the effort receive nothing but a worthless ‘golden ticket’ that disappears into a box, never to be seen again. Yet somehow, the school thinks this is a brilliant rewards system, despite it blatantly favouring those who cause trouble.

Why this school sucks

The food is overpriced, bullying isn't dealt with enough, the staff is very low quality, the uniform is overpriced you get the point. There are so many things that are bad about this school that I could spend a whole day talking about it, the school does nothing to fix any of their problems.

ashfield sucks

food is very expensive and teachers don’t let you in the toilet. when it rains you can go inside classrooms and you can’t go on your ohone which is so stupid. i hate every single lessons in there and there is lots on useless rules that no one listens too anyway

The definition of an alright school

It’s a fine place. They have a questionable approach on handling bullying, overpriced food and uniform, and most of the students here suck. Many students here are apart of the LGBTQ+ community, and i don’t feel they tackle homophobia and transphobia very well. Also many students are very ableist and they do nothing to punish them. It seems they don’t care about disabled people unless they have a doctors note saying they cannot do anything.

There are good things about it though, some of the food tasted good, i’ve made good friends and some of the teachers are nice, other than that, i feel pretty unsafe here, but others have it better than me. Would definitely recommend this school over kirkby collage, they’re a bunch of wetwipes

Not a very good school

When I first started this school I thought it was going to be great, But i was shocked to say the least, Now that everything is back to normal there is ALOT of bullying throughout the year groups,The uniform is way too pricey and the food is overpriced, kids with disabilities are abandoned. There are alot of Transgender students and students apart of the lgbt at this school, I feel that the school isn't doing enough to tackle the homophobia and make sure students feel comfortable and confident in there own body's and in there school environment without being bullied for it.

Stupid school

Stupid school honestly doesnt let you go toilet you have to have a toilet pass to go the teachers dont let you go whilst on your period which is just ridiculous because you should be allowed to go. I find it very wrong that your not allowed to go toilet. The school does nothing about students having no food to eat at lunch
Overall just a stupid school

Disappointed

I went to this school over others in my area for their supposedly above-average support for children with disabilities. I can only say this. I was effectively abandoned, given no help whatsoever while other lads who blamed their poor behaviour on their disabilities were given special privileges. Such as cutting in line in the schools under prepared cafeteria which one year can fill. Or leaving class whenever desired. Good riddance.

Secondary

Not the best school

Expensive school uniform, poor management and poor way of dealing with bullying. School busses are always overful. However most teachers are experienced and knowledge and are helpful and friendly. Other teachers that are mainly higher up in the school have bad attitudes towards students and are rather unhelpful.

Amazing school

I absolutely love this school. The teachers are so supportive and helpful and they know how to deal with an incident if anything happens. School facilities are amazing too and the school is so well looked after. 😁😁

Good school with the exception of few things

Generally this is an all round decent school. The majority of teachers know what they are doing and support everyone.

The food is a little questionable and quite expensive for what you get.

The uniform features ridiculously overpriced trousers that have to be bought from one place because of a logo.

Generally though I have had a good time.
