horror school

you could be having a laugh in a biggish group in the playground, and the teachers will band together like the power rangers. whipping their walkie talkies out to disable this avengers level threat (the year sevens are playing chinese whispers), and then sending them all to AR whilst arguing with them like little kids. then the same power rangers will sit you down in class, put on blooket, lean back and kick up their feet.
Not to mention, when theirs an actual fight (almost everyday), the teachers first priority is to disperse the crowd. Alright love, shes just been kicked in the head and that ones just had all her hair pulled out but thank god no one was there to see it!
this school is built under an airbnb, next to a hotel, and on a cliff at the bottom of england, where the sun never reaches.
jarring place, jarring people, jarring school.

ID RATHER SEND MY KIDS TO HELL

disguising their general lack of knowledge and care in how to treat mentally ill students and those with learning difficulties this school immediately leaves a bad taste in your mouth. following this up with a horrendous track record with not being able to recruit staff to the school, overpaying unqualified and unproven teachers who eat charity donations, and underpaying those who are here to provide a good and meaningful educational experience. the senior leadership team consisting of those with the most important roles in the school acts as a “big brother” type institution, punishing those creative enough to put ideas forward or not learn in the way the school insists. phrases heard from teachers throughout the school include “we don’t care for your opinion” and “you should be seen not heard as pupils. the horrendous learning programme has switched from the tried and tested book based learning, to booklet lead exercises leaving students to work through it themselves with little to no help from any teachers. the incessant and overwhelming pressure for students to perform at a high level is all consuming for children as young as 4. homework everyday which is tedious and time consuming. the schools apparent good grades are achieved through causing severe mental illness in many students in the school. the student leadership roles are worthless, with the school blatantly lying about policies they’ve acted on within the school. students asking for extra subject time for things their passionate in as an extra curricular activity were told it was as available and then lied on a slide they spread across the school saying “students were happy with the adjusted lesson ammounts” when no survey was ever taken. the school make basic promises to aid students with education and bullying yet never act on these baseless claims which leads students to believe there’s nowhere to go for anything they feel. public shaming is also very common with everyone who earned a detention each day being plastered around the whole school. a follow up point, the tvs that are used to display the daily message board take up an extreme ammount of the schools budget despite many not being used. the toilets are constantly in a horrendous state has they decided to make the doors specially tailor made out of rare wood when all they are needed for is to block students using the toilet, which they can’t do when broken. students aren’t allowed freedoms such as eating outside, eating with all their friends as were no longer allowed to move spare benches to the tables. the approach of covering up all the bad things that happen however, has stopped working. fights almost every day, teachers telling students to “go to prison” and “never come back” with some teachers even getting into heated altercations with students. in the current year 11 over 60% of students have had to drop a subject as they have not been taught it well enough, with current mock predicted grades being god awful as teachers refuse to teach properly.as well as this the canteen does not stock enough food to fill the small ammount of pupils inhabited which is downright awful. this awful school should die in a hole where it belongs.

good on paper, bad in practice

they have significantly improved over the past 3 years since opening, but the environment is generally unsafe because of their terrible bullying policy and the shocking lack of care for mentally ill and neurodivergent students. they do not take into consideration how mental disabilities may affect us or our attitude to learning, and disguise their incessant pressure for good grades and ‘motivation to succeed’. especially over this quarantine, they haven’t chased up missing work or checked in on any of their struggling students, only offered to lend them laptops for work and do live lessons on 2/3 lessons to keep up. their attitude to us as people rather than numbers is terrible.
