Awful school

Honestly thing school is shocking, I seriously wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. The rules are absolutely ridiculous and they’ve taken their power and used it to their full extent. They conatantly bring students down just to make themselves feel better. You genuinly see teachers smirking and be proud of themselves for making students cry? I’ve seen teachers making female students wipe their makeup off in the middle of a corridor or the middle of the “heart space” where many people can see you. I don’t know whether this is to just pure embarrass the student or not but it clearly works, and from the way teachers act there it wouldn’t surprise me if they did do for their own enjoyment. Students are told to express themselves and be themselves but when they do they’re screamed at and told to get rid of anything they’ve done for abit of individuality. If male students come in with hair that’s “too short” they’re placed in isolation until it grows back, seriously? Is that a joke? You are making a student who could be in lessons and actually learning sit in a box, stare at a wall and learn absolutely nothing, just because their hair is abit short.. weird. I also find it concerning how female or male students can’t have “un natural” hair colours. However, some teachers have bright red or pink hair. They say that it’s “not appropriate for a workplace” if hair is unnatural, yet they come with multicoloured hair. Students are also placed in isolation for forgetting a lanyard. A lanyard?? Some teachers need to take a look at themselves and think am i been dramatic or do they really deserve isolation for forgetting a lanyard. This school is absolutely ragged and needs shutting down because if you asked every single student still at that school they’re say the exact same. That school ruins people and brings out the worst in students. They don’t care. All they care about is wether your passing your maths and English at the end of it all.

BBG’s new slogan: Mental health doesn’t matter!

I left this school a year ago. Academically, this school is amazing i passed all of my exams. However this came with a price. This school and every single teacher in it, does not care about anyone’s mental health. Don’t get me wrong, there’s an exception of maybe three specific teachers who managed to understand us, as students. However their job is to teach, not to clean up the mentally damaging mess the other teachers have made. The amount of friends I knew who came to me, saying the most terrifying things a friend could hear; because of that school. The teachers talk down on us all. They have no problem with throwing you in a box (isolation) for days on end. Even in exam season. I, am lucky, that I must be naturally smart. As I spent half of my time in isolation, And still passed. Others weren’t so lucky. My friends who cried every night because of how much effort they were putting in academically, only to be thrown into a box without a second thought, were not so lucky. I remember some days, I’d walk into school having panic attacks, because of what i was about to endure.Isolation consisted of multiple desks next to each other, With thick , tall wooden boards separating everyone. Seven hours facing a wall. You can’t slouch, You can’t put your head down. or you will be screamed at. You can’t stop writing, they come round every ten minutes and mark your paper, if you haven’t written enough, you get screamed at. You get shoved into that box for the stupidest reasons. Fighting? I agree, seperate them. Violence isn’t okay. But for five detentions within 5 weeks? You may be thinking, “yeah it’s bad, but it doesn’t happen often.” Yes. It does. If your child is not a pristine little angel who doesn’t open their mouth; who has no friends and no social life, they will not be happy there. It’s hard for me to put into perspective how strict and horrible it is. It’s something I wouldn’t put my worst enemy through. The way the teachers speak to you… like muck. Like dirt with no feelings. Mental health with young people is important. This school; doesn’t care. all they care about are the grades and the rules. They had me in isolation for a week straight before the day of my first exam; luckily i passed by a few marks. But imagine how well i would of done if i was in those lessons. They can promote recycling, but they somehow manage to fail at treating us like human. Every relationship you make, can be ruined in a second. They have the upper hand; they have the power, and they remind you of it every opportunity they get. Those people in that school, are nowhere close to human.

Don’t listen to mental health

As once being a student here, they don’t care for your mental health or wellbeing, they just want good grades. They didn’t care to the point where I had to leave their environment to go to an alternative provision where they accommodated my needs.

Not bad not great

This school was good in some aspects. The aspect of driving everything around grades is definitely good to an extent. Little consideration is taken into situations where people are struggling with mental health. They have a no bullying policy and violence policy which they do not follow in many instances. And when they do act on bullying its way too late and not measured correctly. Some particular male staff were overly aggressive to the point where they would make students cry, and be overhead being proud of it. . The school itself was good, good facilities and clean areas to sit and eat and socialise. They have a good choice of subjects to do in year 10 and 11 for gcse's. But the lack of care for the students and sheer drive to get the grades let many students I know feeling depressed and not wanting to attend. Don't send your child here if your worried about them being bullied because it will not be dealt with fast enough or to the right standard. They also have rules about water bottles, do not let you go to the toilet which is a basic human need, and have silly rules such as in an incidence where you use self defence whether it be a push or a punch against an unprovoked aggressor, you get the same punishment. This is not how it works in real life, and contradicts highschool's key goal of getting young adults ready for the real world.

School review

Wasn’t impressed even though it was said to be the best school area. My child had to leave because they weren’t supportive of mental health and did no educate the children about well-being and attendance seemed to be their only concern. Also extremely unnecessary rules example; clear water bottles and skirts that you can barely buy to be that long.

BBG Academy Review

BBG Academy is just absolutely amazing. All the teachers take care of you, they are such good teachers, and they always make sure that every student is feeling ok and if they need any help! The food is also really amazing. Always healthy and safe. I really do recommend this school, you won’t regret it.
