Reasons to not go

Personally I have had an awful experience with the school and the teachers have lost control of the kids and the love to teach leaving you to self teach yourself out of a textbook. Bullying isn’t taken seriously at all leaving you miserable and I personally believ it is currently the worst secondary school in Shrewsbury and a big reason for this is Mr Farr and his wife

This place is great

This school is awful. The teachers can’t teach (Timmy and Jill) they can’t teach or control the class and are just plain dull. The classmates are horrible the boys are homophonic to people but then hump each other and touch eachothers asses constantly. And the chavs need to find out there right foundation shade and how tf to do there brows.

never go to this school

if i did not drop out of this school, i would be dead, I'm not exaggerating here. sure this school is fine for strait, white, mentally ok males. but anyone else and your pretty much done for. i only knew of two teachers that cared about me wanting to k*** myself. the amount of bullying and harassment is appalling and even if you just want a small bit of support, you wont get it. if your problems are just the simple “oh my friend said something mean” and you can get over it within a day, then the pastoral team is great, because they don't actually care or know how to deal with actual problems students face. as for classes, you wont learn anything, or get help, most you can do is study by yourself and hope you’re good enough. one of the only reasons i'm still alive is purely because i had to be the mental support for my friend group, i couldn't get through the rest of school in that hell hole. i recommend only going to that school if its the ONLY choice you have left.

my belvidere review !!!!!!!!!!

amazing school I've been here for 5 years and never had a single problem. you see all these reviews talking about racism, homophobic behaviour but I've never seen or heard it and I'm sure if this type of behaviour was to happen the teachers would be straight on the case. The only thing negative about this school is the amount of homosexual stuff you see. kids walking around with rainbow bags and its always the emo's they just cant seem to be normal. but beside that it would be 5 stars x

Don't choose this school for your kids

Horrible school the teachers say stuff about you but as soon as you say something back you get a detention. They overwork you with homework that almost seems endless I understand the reason for homework but they simply give you way too much. From my own experience I have had rocks thrown at me and my friends the teacher stood there and watched. I used to feel ill worrying about what I would have to face the next day at school I even went through a point where I was staying up till 5 worrying. I have anxiety now because of it whenever I'm bullied I feel like I have no one to tell since I know that the teachers won't do anything.

Don't choose this school

Terrible, they don't do anything about bullying the teachers always seem miserable and like they are only there for money. They couldn't care less about students mental health. Some of the teachers are ok but most are ignorant about overworking students. If you are considering taking your child here then think again. Overall if I could choose I wouldn't be here

Don't Choose Belvidere

I'm in year 9 and i left this school. If your child suffers with mental health then the support team are great with dealing with it but don't think for a minute that if something traumatic happens that they are going to help you. A certain member of the pastoral team was being very rude towards myself, my older brother and my mum. Another member of the Pastoral team made me feel like my feelings were being invalidated. If your being harassed by boys they will tell you "oh boys will be boys." If girls are bullying you its "oh girls will be girls just ignore them," its really hard to ignore them when its everyday. A lot of the teachers are brilliant but some of them seem like they don't wanna be there. The kids are horrible, the Pastoral team are terrible and half of the teachers don't deal with bullying in class. Homophobia and sexism is a big problem in this school and its not being dealt with properly or even at all. Since lockdown, the school has gone off the rails. I'm so glad i left this school because honestly its terrible and if you think its outstanding well think again. Please if your considering this school as an option for your child, don't bother with this one

Business or School?

This school feels more like a business. This school was going downhill before covid but when that all kicked off it went completely off the rails. The lessons are average and most of the time are completely ruined by people interrupting or just being idiots. The problem here is that the lessons stop and we have to wait until the room is silent for the lesson to continue. Most teachers however are very easy to get along with but there are many that no longer have the time of day for you. Some of them pick and choose who they will be friendly with and who they wont. I have first hand experience of this with parts of the pastoral care. This school feels like a bad environment and is very run down. It feels like all the staff here have given up on the school and are just there for the money. Personally, it feels like the only reason they carry on is to make money whilst students sit there and watch. I cant wait to be out of this school and it will be a big relief when I do. Please if you are considering this school as an option for your child, dont bother with this one.

GCSE

Horrible

My friend got a chair thrown at her by another student from the other side of the zone. It went about 30 feet up in the air, before hitting her on the back. The headteacher was supposed to be on duty, but she wasn't there. Even after we went and told some of the staff, nothing was done.

Nasty

When it comes to education it is helpful. But there is also a big problem involving racism, homophobia and sexism. And when it comes to mental health the school doesn't care.

2.supportive cis people

THIS SCHOOL IS OK BUT THE AMOUNT OF HOMOPHOBIA I SUFFER ON A DAILY BASIS IS TERRIBLE. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH EITHER.

Please, don't use as your first choice.

As being a student of this school and currently leaving in a years time, how do I put this lightly? Well, it is horrible. The main problems circulate around the students, though. Discipline is a thing that this school lacks heavily when it comes to issues such as bullying, homophobia, sexism, ableism, etc. And the support involving mental health is shocking as well. Within the past couple of months, one of the students in my year had committed suicide due to bullying and one of them was supposedly put in hospital for attempting to commit suicide, due to bullying.

They really need to get their heads out of their asses and do something about it. The education is very good though, and the teachers are very nice. All the teachers I've came out to about who I am have all been really supportive and have helped me alot. Some of them have also complained about how the schools going off the deep end. The students are revolting though, and with me and most of my friends being apart of the lgbtqia+ community and have been going through some bad things, we get hate-crimed often from certain people in our year and it damages our mental health even more.

To conclude, don't come here unless you're only looking for good grades.

Pastoral Support Lacking

Most teachers are good, but the support is severely lacking, and the behaviour is only getting worse. There is constant bullying that goes unnoticed and if it is noticed it is often ignored.

Go Somewhere Else

I mean I guess the teaching is okay but the people are awful. There's so much racism, homophobia and sexism that goes unrecognised, not to mention use of slurs. This one autistic kid in my year got shoved to the ground and gets bullied frequently. The teachers are aware of this and do nothing lmao.
