City academy Birmingham

I don’t even know where to start with this school. The school is absolutely terrible. The attitude of the staff the absolutely horrid behaviour of the students. And the annoying thing is they all ways reward the bad kids but students who try and put in the work are never rewarded for it. I used to be a very lovely girl who tried and always worked hard but I never got noticed so now I’ve started acting up. The school is all together awful. The amount of complaints that have been put in and have obviously been ignored must be a really high number.

City academy crisis

Where do I begin with this school, I am a student there still currently and oh boy the amount of unprofessionalism and neglect this school has is shocking, how has the school board allowed this school to go on?
Kids behaviour is appalling, and the kids that do their best don’t get recognised with the credit they deserve.
The safeguarding, there’s a lot to talk about there. They overall do not know how to understand kids emotions, or how to deal with them, they’ll just give you a booklet and that’s it, no one there on that team is specially trained to help these kids, and not to mention a tyrant that is on that team, also known as miss Lewis, she’ll pick favourites and not to mention she’ll pick on staff, (I personally know that most staff in that building fear her, and wouldn’t personally direct her)
To continue, the students. On a search day one brought a knife into the building then decides to throw it on the stairwell, how do you let that happen? Knowing that the whole year groups being searched they couldn’t a staff member on the floor stairwell where the searches taking place
And the fact they’re oblivious to smell of weed and vapes. The schools bathrooms are like a smokers corner, not to mention kids giving out weed cup cakes and the teachers not noticing.
And several girls and boys from every year group caught being high of cannabis yet only temporarily excluding them and not always bringing the police in
Furthermore, the school funds are mostly wasted on things we don’t need for example the astroturf, it was supposedly a reward however no one voted for this? It more of the boys said they wanted it, the boys got it, but what about the girls? They never had a say. And along w that the school lacks the funds for a proper indoor space and when receiving a classroom that is accompanied by a teacher or several teachers it’ll get shut down. Leaving the non socialable students forced to go out of their comfortable zone into a more so stressful anxiety ridden place.
It doesn’t help that the fact there is fights almost weekly, a kid getting bashed onto the floor? A kids wig getting pulled out their scalp? A students lip busted, not to mention several others who also experienced some sort of abuse within the school grounds it makes you question is this really a safe school if they cannot spot the sparks of conflict before it gets out of hand?
Furthermore, the verbal abuse the staff thinks they can hand out is ghastly. Teachers yelling in students faces, gaslighting, gossiping, and overall making the students feel as if they’re worthless or insignificant in the matter.

The school also lacks members of required staff, and can’t seem to keep the staff they currently have. The head teacher is clearly not qualified to run this school as she walks around parading the corridors as if she’s the queen, she picks favourites from skin tone. Also is known ti be racist and choose favourites she’ll punish some kids harshly and some lightly regarding who it is
We lack a proper maths department with only a singular decent teacher who’s always busy with meeting or a singular year 11 class as the year 10s seem to be driven down a path way to failure. The teachers we do have in the department fail to keep the class in control let alone teach.

Now time for the mentioning of the bullying and the “safeguarding” they provide. The school lacks to teach the kids about basic slang that must not be said regarding homophobia, racism, sexism and much more. The kids at this school do not feel safe as clearly the kids who bully are favourable by teachers and however some teachers do try to put an end it carries on and on. Most student don’t mention how hard it is to get in and face the fact of “I’m going to get verbally abused by another student” overall this school lacks the help to motivate and keep these kids going
Most kids here struggle through this school.

There’s so much more to say however this schools lists of problems would be written into a book if people had a chance to state it’s problems.
