I’ll admit I didn’t get the greatest grades, but I had a really great experience studying my A-Levels at Wolverhampton College. Everyone was friendly, teachers were interested in teaching us more than just the curriculum, and I felt so much happier and more confident than I did at any other school I’ve been too. Did wonders for my mental health. Only thing that really got on my nerves was how useless Tutorial was. In my second year we genuinely just repeated lessons from the first year and the new tutorial teacher wouldn’t listen to us when we told her we’d done it before. She treated us like we were in infant school and said she “trusted us to walk to the toilets ourselves”. She also tried to get me to do Work Experience again even though I’d already done it in the first year, and would constantly say my attendance needed to go up to an impossible percentage in a week, even though it was consistently in the green and above 96% attendance. I don’t really think Tutorials need to last even half as long as they do, or shouldn’t be weekly - and if they are then they should at least be actually useful, like just mandatory revision sessions.
