Not even worth the 1 stars

I'm not really sure where to begin.

Learning seems to be all online learning programs and not staff actually delivering learning.

Staff and teachers seem to believe they need to assert power over the children. What kind of adults must they be to need to overpower children? Very belittling and intimidating.

Safety and security, I think the children need these aspects to protect them from the teachers rather than from their environment.

Indoor environment is a bit battered but a new build is STILL on its way....

Outdoor environment is small considering how many children attend the school.

Food and meals, my son says lunchtime and hometime is the best time of the day so I'd say food isn't a problem.

School information seems to only serve the purpose of looking attractive to grab new students. It's not actually adhered to.

Activities seem okay. Lots of afternoon club activities although the rate detentions are dished out I'm not sure if they are at full compactly.

Overall I wouldn't recommend. I think they have forgotten the students are not suppose to be a mould of their ridiculous expectations and are instead infact individually unique in their own right. Unless you go and make a huge scene and show them you don't mess about, no issues get resolved. Sad to think this is what our education system has to offer

Don’t go here unless u want sucidal thoughts

This school does absolutely nothing to help their students with anything mental health related the best they have done is given me a therapist who isn’t trained and did nothing. The school has repeatedly failed to notice and help me to the point I have tried to kill myself multiple times. I tried to open up to school about my struggles with self harm and Ed’s but they couldn’t care less and made me feel unsafe to talk to them the resources we have r horrible at lunch and break you could either be in the library or outside but you can’t even go to the library unless it’s your designated library day. This rule makes me want to unalive because we need a book from the library on us at alll times but we only have one opportunity to change the book a WEEK. There r so many stupid rules that just have no purpose whatsoever. They found out kids were vaping in the bathrooms so what do they do? Only allow one person in the toilet at a time and don’t let you bring your bag. This just won’t stop anyone vaping all it does is make kids pick between food or going to the toilet in the mere 25 minutes we have at break. Then again at lunch as we have 45 minutes. This may seem alot but on a normal day you’d be in the lunch line for 25 minutes and the toilet line for atleast 10 giving you practically no time to decompress. Most of our lessons r just teachers either reading off a PowerPoint or having us go through a work book. It’s like they don’t want us to think we just read and copy read and copy. It’s mind numbing and makes ppl not want to learn. I will give credits to mr babbington a new English teacher who actually makes lessons engaging and isn’t condescending, rude and bias like the majority of teachers here

black history month all we got was a dance in the playground

i dont

i dont find the school supportive as my mental health is always drained as teachers belittle me and make me look down on myself. This is also reoccurring to the fact that the schools head staff system are extremely racist and profile me as a student and make me look as a bad person. Because of this I have not gotten the gcse results i would have like just because of the colour of my skin. so i would advice you not to make your child come here

Frustration

My daughter is presently attending this School, and she is facing alot of racism from teachers, especially her maths teacher..She is going through mental stress and don't want to go to School...I have several meetings with members of staffs and nothing change and no help given..I ask to have meeting with the Maths teacher and I was told that I can not have meeting with her..My daughter can't get to eat lunch before teachers even if she is already in the queue before teachers, Every time my daughter get a nice teacher, they get rid of them..Sad Sad situation 😞.

former student honest review

As a former student, i can say that this school completely ruing my mental health to the point where i considered suicide, i ended up leaving in the middle of year 9 and moved due to this, the students there are horrible and so are the teachers. Most of the teachers pick favourites, a girl in my class used to get kicked out every science lesson for doing absolutely nothing. All i can ask is that you do NOT send your children here

Review of Compass School by a former SEN Student.

I had no satisfaction learning anything in school, some kids were learning area of a circle in Y10 for the FIRST time. They only had a few good teachers that would leave after 1 year. They academics were awful awarding the bad kids instead of the good. The whole school was built off the lie they would get a new building they said 2020 5 years ago now they’re saying next year and god knows (environment is awful and too small for hundreds of kids) SAFEGUARDING is awful, I had autism and used to bunk lessons because of stress and anxiety despite being one of the smartest in my year and on track for an 8 in subjects. They LET me walk around the school unaccompanied and then broke the law by asking my mum to come pick me up. No activities to do at lunch time it’s either library or outside, you can’t watch the other boys play football you have to be involved or go back round (teachers say this) To be fair we had some OK teachers but we also had bad ones so to make it a fair review I will give a 4 because I got on with a good amount of the teachers. They couldn’t handle bullying, they made certain bullies anti-bullying ambassadors. I have autism and do not know what they mean by school information however I would assume it’s how they provide information to you as a student which was very poor and did not prepare you for future life or even regarding events. I’m an SEN child or was a SEN student there and I can promise you they do NOT care about Special Needs, the Head of SEN doesn’t understand Autism she confessed it to my mum (No EQUAL RIGHTS). Food was disgusting I went the whole day without food up until dinner bc I didn’t have time to have breakfast. Only sports at lunch are table tennis and football, girls and boys don’t do the same sports in PE (PE and Computing GCSE are currently mandatory or were when I was there) The school had no culture and no identity. Code of Conduct is HORRIFIC they broke at least 2 laws when I was there, changing official documents on my EHCP to show they were “meeting” my needs and asked mum to take me home when I would bunk bc of stress. Challenging is an unfair one for me to rank I wasn’t challenged at ALL by the school all the work was easy but keep in mind I’m a student with a high IQ so I’m not sure so I would do 2 stars. I didn’t develop as a person not positively at least, they made me develop clinical depression and drove me to the verge of sanity.

I’m very sorry for the long review however thanks for reading this far, I tried to make this as unbiased as possible however keep in mind I’m now 16 with clinical depression I was an SEN child, and I was there from Y7 to Y10 and I eventually contemplated suicide as I felt people like me had no place in life. Please bear this in mind while making a decision on sending your child here parents, I would do everything in my power to make sure other kids have a bright future and don’t turn out like me. I’m in a new SEN school now getting around 7s and doing good. Thank you for reading and have a Merry Christmas as it’s the 25th tomorrow
