Stay away from this school. If you have a very bright child.

So much Discrimination and far too many racist teachers. That are infact senior members.
Children of colour have no chance at this school. Probably 1% out of the 5% make it to year 9. Isolation is the answer for troubled kids in their eyes.
If they don't get suspended...... let's Not even......
Options are chosen by the teachers in yr 10. None are lessons they actually like and need, or enjoy. Just lessons they can act up in so it makes the removal of the child easier. My daughter has struggled since year 7. Now in year 11.
Victimisation is this schools number one priority If you challenge them in any way. Becarful. It's been said theirs a teacher who worked for the prisons who absolutely intimidates the children. You know who you are. Bully!
That's just half of what goes on. This School is not for kids with a disability Educational need or suffers from Social Anxiety or of an Minority background. Stay away enough said. And all this is anonymous due to the level of crafty victimisation. Just shows. They need to be closed down seriously. Look at the reviews

needs improvement

the school excludes pupils really easily and lacks in compassion for children’s mental health. There’s a few really generous teachers that really help but there’s some that show no care about their students feelings.

Outrageously atrocious

I shouldn’t have to feel the need to write this review, anonymously , but if the school know that this is coming from me and they know my child , they will target and have another thing to go on about to my child.

It doesn’t give me the option to rate Droylsden Academy with no stars!
My child attends Droylsden Academy. I’m not going to mention their name or what year they are in.
My child has ADHD and the staff at Droylsden Academy are just disgusting. We have a meeting after meeting and there is still no change . Some of the staff can get on my child level and they slightly understand , but at the end of the day , my child is falling behind due to the lack of understanding and support. It angers me to the car when you try to get in contact with them, there is no one available. Let your child do one thing wrong, they are the first on the phone to highlight my child’s fault.

I really hope that my other child does not get a place in Droylsden Academy, and they are accepted in Fairfield.

Horrible Experience

Overall not a great school, they just suck up on ofsted review days. the teachers simply do not care about you and just let external services handle it, students learn in fear, get shouted at and have a horrible experience in the school, i would not recommend sending your child here would literally rather be in a korean labour camp than go one more day here, the best thing to do is leave.

Shit school I hope u burn :)

I was bullied all 5 of my school years at this school, nearly killed myself 3 times and was given a counsellor once. I came out about the amount of sexual harassment that goes on in the school and was given a booklet of websites to access, they didn't take me away from the abusers or remove any harmful content for me. It was awful

Pretty decent and always getting better.

Definitely the best in the area and they get better every year, definitely a good choice for anyone who is creatively inclined (think drama, music, dance etc). Super tight on behaviour, especially violence/aggression, however both students involved in a fight or an argument will receive the same punishment even when there's a clear aggressor. For the most part, even if one student tried to walk away from another being aggressive, if a physical fight breaks out they will both be punished the same. (usually isolation, suspension and possible expulsion)

Building is lovely, tad cramped with how many students there are but it can't be helped. Atrium cannot accommodate enough students, so at lunch time (half an hour) expect to be moved on before you've finished eating if you're sat at any of those tables.
If you do get hot food inside or from the catering van thingy, rest assured that it'll be tasty. Of all school food I've ever had, I can very easily say that this is the best.

I attended pre-covid FYI so lunch times could be different.

Only issue I really had with the building is that it gets incredibly hot in the atrium and the wedges, and up on the lily pad during the summer. The reason being that a lot of the building has huge windows and ceilings with windows in them, which provides a really great and bright environment, but functions similarly to a greenhouse as it's pretty impossible to run an aircon over such a large space (nevermind compete with the sun on a 20+ degree day)

There's a gym, a dance studio, two large astro turfs and a load of other spaces outside for PE lessons, so that's pretty nice and makes cross country season more tolerable. Outdoor area available during lunch and break is alright too, there's places to sit and (when I attended at least) there was a place to get food outside too.

I had bad experiences with a few staff members, but I could count them on one hand. It was mostly down to a lot of them veerryy much needing additional training on handling students with mental health issues, and reminding that things that are a pebble for them are a mountain for some students. That being said, I did really like the actual safeguarding team and I never had issues with any of them, but I felt quite patronised/babied by them sometimes.

Biggest issue I really had outside of one specific substitute staff member was the way bullying was dealt with. The academy is great in being transparent that bullying does happen, as with every other school, but it isn't always dealt with properly. It felt like pot luck, sometimes it was dealt with swiftly but other times the same student(s) would consistently be overlooked or given a hypothetical slap on the wrist for something that would have gotten another student suspended. (about 90% were dealt with pretty well though). I don't want to say it was favouritism, but as someone who experienced this first hand, it felt like it at the time.

Bullying based on race/sexuality was always dealt with incredibly well, bar one instance with someone I knew well, where nothing was ever done despite a staff member witnessing it numerous times. Hence my feeling that the bully in this situation was a favourite.
