As someone who went to ECC my opinion is that the school itself has a lot of good resources and activities. For example they have Latin and a really good Latin teacher and many sports activities, but because of it being such a big school there is a very big problem with bullying. There's lots of bigatory language used and lots of fights happen and there isn't much the teachers can do to stop it from happening. When I was there me and my friends suffered from a lot of harassment from other students. Also as a SEN student myself there isn't much to support children with difficulties learning. So I would suggest not sending your child.
horrid school bad for mental health and staff are disgusting
I hate this school with all my guts teachers are horrible and vile and don’t let u express your self in anyway. So easy to get negatives, detentions, RTLs, internals, etc but so incred Hard to get praise and positives. No teachers will care about u. Horrible orders who will pick on you and jump you. I highly don’t recommend sending ur child it will cause them mayhem and bad metal heath . This school it horrible and no one cares. All they care about is makeup, uniform, bad behaviour (wonder why) and skipping.
i have been bullied mant times by many different ppl and have told many different adults in the schl and none of it has been sorted instead they punish ppl who are either completely unrelated or who are also being bullied by the same ppl whilst the students who are actually bullying me and others are getting away with it.
do not go here i have been here since year 7 and wanted to leave thee moment i got there, very few teachers care about you and the ones that usually do the other teachers dont like them. the people that go here get worse as the years go on its very hard to stay happy if you dont have the ability to take criticism. you can get punished for attendance even if you have a very valid reason they care more about uniform than weather your comfortable in the school, the same goes for fights the people who aggravate them into them punching someone never get told off only the people who throw the first punch. there are so many reasons not to go here if you value your Childs safety i advise you to send them somewhere else doesn't matter if its the closest school just send them somewhere else
I still do go to the comp and it’s is horrible you get told of for the most stupidest things like looking out the window u have to ask to take ur jumper of and ask to have a drink all the teachers have favourites and pick on the ones that they know have a temper and will get mad it’s just unfair and horrible
A collegue of mine spent over two years trying to take this so-called education academy to court when his son was assaulted and left with permanent disabilities.
The principal and his minions covered their backs at every chance and swept it under the carpet. The police couldn't prosecute as their was no CCTV in the playground. Devon County Council wouldn't help. The Department of Education also wouldn't help. The local MP wouldn't get involved and the parlimentry ombudsman service were obviously in cahoots with the DofE. The school turned welfare onto the family who threatened them with fines and imprisonment due to their sons poor attendence. (He couldn't sleep for over a year due to his injury), so they took him out of the school. He ended up winning a 'substantial' sum of money from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority.
I've noticed a growing amount of parents on local social media also saying that their kids are bullied and nothing is done about it......and the facebook posts miraculously 'disappear'.........
If I am being honest, this school needs serious help. I was an SEN student and have very complex needs. Etc; Autism, Tourretes, Anxiety disorder. And they are the worst at handling it. I was constantly gaslighted and told "you'll be fine" when in actual fact I did not turn out to be fine and gained PTSD from the way I was treated. This is not me over-exaggerating, this is me telling the truth. It was awful, their bullying policy is a complete lie and non of the teachers bothered to read my EHCP and most of the SEN team aren't qualified to work in that environment.
My child has been physically attacked twice by the same student as well as the assaults being videoed and distributed to students around the college. Their “processes” they follow meant that the girl’s disciplinary action was 2 days expulsion and isolation time. I mean really??????
It happens all the time and the school are not only letting the children and parents down but creating a society of children that are told they can do anything they want and there won’t be that bad repercussions just a slap on the wrist and carry on 😡😡😡😡😡😡
I’m post 16 and I’ve been here since year 7 and it’s just not very good if it wasn’t so close to my house I wouldn’t go here, the technology teacher in the wood tech is the loveliest he’s great, but the other teachers couldn’t care less if you fail, they are terrible with mental health and disability’s and the school isn’t wheelchair accessible
It is definitely not the best school. Many teachers have obviously favourites and will push other “misbehaved” students to one side and fail to give them the necessary care they need. This goes for many students who struggle with adhd, Tourette’s, autism and many other needs.
Despite eccs anti bullying policy, any student who is reported bullying is only told “don’t do it again” and is sent on their way. The reporting policy also leads to many students reporting false accusations just to get their peers in trouble. If the teacher dealing with this doesn’t like u they will often toss your counter report to the side and take no notice of it. A particular teacher has called me a “b*tch” to other students, called my mother a liar, stirred pots to cause me to lose my friends and refused to give me any care I needed for my extremely poor mental state. The school is dirty and unclean and no one makes an effort to change it. Teachers are also treat poorly. Parents are often dismissed with their concerns. Racism, homophobia and sexism also gets shoved under the mat and often people responding to this get the blame and punishment. However their are some lovely teachers and students there who know the struggle and want to help
Don’t put ur child through this pain they never sort out bullies there are so many fight and oat teachers are rude they care more about uniforms and skirts then kids education
I wouldn't send my child here , there is allways so many fights. The buildings are old and out dated, some are falling down . The children always get into fights or trouble. Alot of bullying that never gets sorted some teachers are also not very nice. I'm the current climate , there is no where to stand have lunch for any students. People also do escape.
Horrible place to attend some teachers are nice but not all and even though the school prides them self on having an anti bulling policy this dose not stop students from doing so and most get away with it
