Your children are not safe

As a concerned parent I would not advise to bring your child to Gillotts. This school has certain criteria in order to be taken care of so if you meet, middle class, white, stable income, two parents at home and no learning difficulties then your child will be fine. However, for me as a parent, I am disgusted on the single parent shaming from this school and how they will not help disadvantaged students to achieve and instead push them in other directions. Bullying at this school is atrocious, my child and their friends tell me about horrific acts that happen on a daily basis on these grounds and it makes me sick. There are children being bullied and name called because of financial issues, r***, race and identity with the school being aware of these issues yet will not punish those responsible. My child will soon finish next may and can be free of attending school with r*lists and pedophiles. This school is endangering our children’s safety by letting children who should be expelled.

Change needed

Would advise anyone considering sending their child to think twice. The school does not stick to their own school policies with regards to bullying and mental health. New head teacher needed to one that won’t sweep issues under the carpet just to maintain a false impression as a great school

First impressions matter

Though I have no doubts Gillotts is a good education facility, doubt is forefront seeing little huddles of teachers smoking outside the school, this looks bad from outside and not a good example for children to witness daily

Outrageous

absolute crap! Let’s start with the canteen! what the hell in jesus christ are the paninis! Paninis more like undercooked, mild ass cheese baugetts! what a rip off for £2.70. prices go up every day, talk about inflation. This school are for people in henley who can’t afford private schools. Facilities are outdated, mould seeping through the walls just wait till offstead comes the school will be shut down in days! Minutes more like. Boys pee all over the walls and don’t get me started on the fruit smelling like puffs coming from the toilet stools! Hmmm i wonder…. 🤔🤔 Fights almost everyday and the teachers do absolutely nothing about it. I swear they went bankrupt, kids freezing their asses off they cant turn the radiators on for more than 5 minutes. Students going wild around the school just trying to warm up their frost bite. Oh dear! They say bring a jumper or suffer in cold ass classroom with your coat off, I swear there was a story of a kid in the back of the class with icicles coming from his frozen tears, hypothermia ??? There amount of children committing sexual acts on school property is concerning. And the on going smoking and vaping problem in the alley outside of school.. The amount of swear words being casually thrown around in classrooms and corridors is disturbing and is not a good example for younger kids.

Send your child anywhere else then here.

Awfully racist against Muslims and anyone who is coloured. Do not send your child here if they are an ethnic minority or a disadvantage student e.g free school meal kids as they will bully you for it and not spend the money they are given on you.

The good and the bad of gillotts

School doesn’t care less about bullying, it’s a serious problem, continually called names and bullied in class when the teacher can 100% hear? Not even acknowledge instead I get held back from class about my attitude, yet I’m not the problem. The way the girls uniforms are treated is horrendous, if you roll your skirt up to stop it falling down you get in told off, lectured about it, even given detention yet the skorts don’t even cover your bum- it’s ridiculous. The rule of no Velcro on shoes is also stupid, I guess they’d rather students fell over their laces. Home clothes day is supposed to be ‘fun and exciting’... unless your someone who wants to wear a ‘short’ skirt, crop top or strapless top, these all are apparently not acceptable, students have been sent out of lessons to put straps on their tops, wasting learning time because the teachers are offended by shoulders. The school consistently complains about lack of funding and the need to buy more equipment for students yet this equipment they buy isn’t for us, we get detention for not having a ruler despite each class being equipped with a full draw of them. The school also seems to constantly push us to come into school no matter what, because attendance is so important, we’ve been told in assembly’s that if your feeling unwell you should still ‘try’ and come into school, I doubt they will be saying this once this pandemic is over. Many of the teachers seem more interested in giving detention than ensuring the student is ok, instead of being asked if you are ok at home when your late to school three times in a week you are given a detention, instead of making sure everything is ok at home when the student falls asleep in lesson they get shouted at and given a detention. The school counsellor is an amazing lifeline for some students but new rules make it far harder to get an appointment, instead of going to the counsellor and booking it you have to go and tell house base why you need it, this includes your personal issues being told to multiple people so they can decide if it’s ‘bad enough’ this I think is disgusting, instead of a confidential talk with a counsellor you have to wait for people to tell you if your bad enough. Although there are many more issues with gillotts I’ll touch on the few positives now. There are some amazing teachers, despite a great many of them being terrible there are a few that I will remember forever, these are the teachers who listen instead of giving detention, who make sure everyone is happy in the classroom, who will always try and make sure the lessons are as fun as they could be, who go out of there way to provide extra revision sessions, stay after school to help with course work, these are the teachers that gave me hope, the teachers that always believed in me and took no stand for bullying, unfortunately this appears to be a minority at gillotts, these teaches mainly seemed to belong to the history department-who always gave the best lessons and where the best when it came to practical jokes on muck up day, the PE department who despite being strict will not stand for bullying and are very encouraging( just don’t forget your kit...) these two departments where amazing during my time in gillotts, despite not being my favourite subjects. Another good thing about the schoolis sports day, the three houses are so competitive and it’s great to see it all come together in such a nice event! Overall the school wasn’t brilliant, but there where a few good times, and I’m sure there are many happy students there but it’s not the happiest place for most.

Crimes against humanity (literally)

I find the teacher: [redacted] guilty of crimes against humanity and in violation of article 50 of The Hague regulations. Article 50 of the 1899 Hague Regulations provides: “No general penalty, pecuniary or otherwise, can be inflicted on the population on account of the acts of individuals for which it cannot be regarded as collectively responsible.” I find [redacted] in direct violation of such actions on the 22nd of September 2019 when [redacted] moaned in a sexual manor which caused [redacted] to discipline the entire class by keeping them behind after the resolution of the legal school guardianship period. Therefore [redacted] committed crimes against humanity and will therefore be tried for crimes against humanity at the United Nations international court of justice.

Overall good school if you can put in effort

If your willing to work, this is the perfect school for you. As long as you put in the effort, the school can provide any resources or help you might need but the teachers can vary in skill. Overall, I would recommend, in my personal opinion it is much better than any nearby private school - despite its occasional lack of funding.
