This school genuinely sucks the soul out of you, I remember waking up everyday full of hatred and disgust for the school. Not only has it had multiple controversies including the recent incident where a Palestinian student was assaulted by another students mother for her political beliefs and her background, but as a whole they've had issues in the past with resolving conflicts.
To start, the schools medical team are unsympathetic. During my time at Greenford, I've seen firsthand multiple girls asking to be sent home for period pains and more just to be dismissed and treated with extreme disrespect and attitude. The medical staff make you feel like you are a hinderance to their day; as if you are a burden to them. I recall going to them for period pains and leaking to be met with snarky comments like "What do you want me to do?" and dirty looks making me feel like I'm in the wrong for asking for help. Even if you are really sick, good luck with getting the medical help you want. If you tell them you've thrown up they ask for evidence, unbelievable. Unless you have a temperature of 400°C or you're one of the medical teams favourites good luck on trying to get home.
Another issue, one of many, is their toilet policy. Only being allowed to go to the bathroom if you have a signed note by the doctors saying that you have an actual medical issue. Being told to "go to the bathroom at break" everyday became a routine, but when we actually did go to the bathroom at break it was full of people from different years doing their makeup, vaping, shouting and whatever else they want.
The new Head Teacher Mia Pye has remained static to any and all emails, I know many parents who have tried to express their views with the school and have been met with nothing but automated e-mails.
Canteen food is a joke, one of my old friends said she had found a nail in her cup of pasta.
There are so many more problems with this school but I'll leave it at this for now.
Bad school don’t go here
Your kids will hate it.
You yourself will be frustrated with the school.
And the head teacher is an absolutely horrible at her job.
Go to villiers much better
I couldn’t recommend working here under present leadership
Where to start? As a former member of staff here I can say that the school really went downhill after the new headteacher Mia, took post. The environment within school became more toxic and I saw most of the good, if not best teachers slowly but surely leave. Most of the staff that left were the ones with self esteem and proven capabilities, unwilling to accept the poor working terms, pay and toxicity under her ‘leadership’. We wouldn’t call it leadership actually because most of the time she hid in her office and delegated the running of the school, to others.
There was a constant revolving door of supply staff & inexperienced teachers being used to fill the gaps that the fleeing experienced teachers left behind. Only the most sycophantic and desperate remained. I personally witnessed days when this school ran out of food to provide lunch to all students. No toilet tissue for student toilets, shortages of basic stationary and supplies, the list goes on. Trips for students regularly cancelled, no work experience arranged for Year 10s and 11s. Favouritism of staff & depts allocated resources. It is true about the PE department being strangely favoured, to the detriment of arguably more important depts. There’s a small cohort, a clique if you will, that behave as if they are above the rules and appear to enjoy favouritism and leeway to do as they please. They can often be found in the pub round the corner, after school hours, along with the obese security guard Steve, whom there have been alarming rumours circulating about for a long time but they still keep him around children, surprisingly.
While working at Greenford High I witnessed practices I have never seen elsewhere, some illegal, many discriminatory and racist. I have seen the school falsify attendance records and then pass false information onto external agencies. Senior members of staff that would target and bully children they didn’t like, especially muslim and black ones. The way I would overhear teachers talking about students in private was toe curling and if they had it in for particular students, they would behave like a pack of bullying animals to sabotage them as much as possible. There are staff in this school who have no business working with children in any capacity. Some who previously worked with prisoners and should never have ventured to working with kids.
There is such a dereliction of leadership and oversight at the school, that there is a lot of unchecked poor practice and unfair treatment towards staff and students. One member of staff would constantly talk about how much of a ‘weed head’ her husband was/is, as if anybody cared to hear about her degenerate life outside of work. Another supposedly in charge of pastorally supporting the children, was a victim of repeated rape by her cousin, under the watch of her parents and was a drug addict before finding work at the school. She had all the hallmarks of someone constantly seeking validation and acceptance from her colleagues, was treated as a useful lackey and appeared to suffer from BPD. Someone like that would never have been hired under the former headteacher and senior staff’s judgement. But I saw the standards drastically fall and decided to jump ship myself, after witnessing some pretty disgusting behaviour, for which I am about to whistleblow about. This is a school where the children need to be safeguarded from the safeguarding team, who operate with peak levels of delusion and complacency because they have gotten away with harmful practices for so long, knowing senior leadership turns a blind eye. So much so, that when they do their dirt, they stupidly forget to hide the bodies and leave a trail of evidence as to their wrongdoings. A lot of livelihoods are about to suffer but there needs to be a total clean-up in every sense of the word, at this school. Within the headteachers short tenure here, she has manage to pull the OFSTED ratings down, enable illegal practices and bring the school into disrepute. Watch This Space….
I worked at this school through an agency, and it was a nightmare. The lead staff member, Monika, exhibited toxic behaviour and treated agency staff with a lack of respect. She was biased, frequently replacing agency workers with new hires based on her personal preferences. Her leadership style was extremely rude and arrogant, showing no regard for professional courtesy.
Monika would dismiss staff over minor issues without valid reasons. Even the internal staff have expressed frustration over her toxic behaviour. If you're considering working at this school as a support staff member, I would advise against it. They do not value or appreciate agency workers and often lodge unnecessary complaints with the agency over trivial matters.
Moreover, while hiring us as Teaching Assistants, they primarily used us as invigilators throughout the year, expecting us to perform like robots. It felt as though we were being used and discarded without consideration.
There is a video circulating on social media of a student having her hijab violently ripped off for supporting the oppressed people of Palestine. The student was violently attacked BY A MOTHER of another student - someone who is supposed to safeguard minors and be a responsible adult. Is this really what Greenford high school is about ? Allowing their students to be assaulted in a racially motivated attack ? Are our children even safe anymore? That woman should be facing charges for assaulting a minor and teaching her daughter that it is OK to do so to other races. If Greenford high school doesn't so anything then they are condoning violence and racial injustices.
Some teachers don't respect students at all and expxics it personally i have had a friend compain to me as she was oh her thingy and had Pe next lesson so got changed. In the bath rooms there was blood on her trousers and she said that she offered to show the teacher and they (a female) made her got changed into her bloody clovers then she was later apologise to by a different member of staff but was still told she hasn't done the right thing there for I believe it was not a sinsir 1 or was it by the right person a sperot problem with this sch as there is cares in the female bathrooms not the cudicals but still
This school is good however they need to get some of their priorities straight. The food here is absolutely disgusting, for high schoolers, and people who eat halal have it worst as they only serve halal food on certain days?..And when they do make halal food they make the bare minimum and so not everyone eating halal is getting lunch. Plus people who eat non halal eat the halal food which makes the food run out faster and greenford high school has a lot of kids. However i’m pretty sure the school is good with Free School Meals receiving basic lunch food like a cheese sandwich, fruit and a drink.
Furthermore, this school has a really bad medical staff (only 1 person) who’s quite rude and tends to show favouritism to certain students and i’ve received some racist comments from them. The medical room is not equipped at all for literally anything: no pads, no tampons, no heating pads. Literally nothing. All there is a thermometer. You could literally be in excruciating pain and none of the female staff would sympathise with you and not allow you to call home to ask for a pad or something and you’d get your phone confiscated. Medical staff is not attentive (you can find them smoking a fag out back). But I do have to say when other staff get involved they do so efficiently when calling an ambulance for example.
This school also has an issue with fights. A lot of physical and verbal fights happen in this school often. Some teachers don’t know how to punish efficiently as if you got into a fight you’d get sent to your head of year then a phone call home however, if you wear makeup you’d get sent to your head of year, a phone call home, behavioural point and an isolation day. Girls tend to experience this a lot, gaining behavioural points for silly things when actually they’re really good in school..I’ve also witnessed double standards in which when the girls used to dye their hair they’d receive detentions and teachers would be on their case. However when boys constantly dye their hair, all of a sudden it is not an issue and it is overlooked.
This school is actually quite poor as a lot of the departments can’t print out work in the staff room as theirs no ink and ink is too expensive so they tend to make students copy and write out from the board as they can’t afford printer ink. Also, the school lacks equipment such as glue sticks, markers, pens and rulers. I suggest anyone who comes to this school to be prepared with stationery as some teachers are really strict on this..Also i’m pretty sure there’s unequal department funding as whoever does sport constantly receives opportunities to attend tournaments whereas a lot of the end of year trips was cancelled due to insufficient funds.
This school I guess does a good job in targeting bullying but the students at this school tend to be quite homophobic (not everyone but majority) and homosexual kids are targeted a lot for bullying. This school does absolutely NOTHING when it comes to raising awareness towards sexual assault in school which is such a disaster as a lot of students may have or had such experiences. Never in my life have I seen this topic being spoken about in school, assembly’s, form time and so on.
This schools toilet is absolutely DISGUSTING. The hygiene is so poor. There’s barely any tissue rolls and half of the locks on doors for the toilet stalls don’t work or there would literally be no doors on some.
Okay now onto the good stuff lol.. I have made some amazing friends here and the teachers are so nice and caring. The teachers create a comfortable environment to express your issues or problems you’re facing with to them. This school provides a variety of subjects to study from. The staff do really push you to do your best and this school has some amazing qualified teachers who will guarantee to improve your grades if you put in the same work back. This school is really diverse with a lot of different cultures, ethnicity’s and religions attending. This school provides a Friday prayer room for all muslim students to attend if they wish to do so which is really good. This school also provides a guidance counsellor which is helpful. Overall, this school does have some issues but I like this school. The core education/learning i’ve received is really good.
