Stay far away from here!!

Absolutely horrible. Worst place I've ever been. Litter is everywhere and everyone gets blamed, ignoring the fact that we are forced to all go outside whether we have finished out food or not. No matter what the weather is, they will make us go outside because god forbid they need to begin cleaning up after our lunch time. Speaking of the food, the wait times are sometimes the whole of the break or lunch (20, 40 minutes) and when you only get your food late due to these lines, your made to bin it. The teachers care a considering amount more about how we dress then our mental health. It takes the school days to get back to parents, just to have no information but minutes to issue detentions for skirts being rolled up. You can only go to the toilet if you have a pass regardless of if it is an emergency. Even if you're on your period you need to have proof to get a temporary one. They don't do a thing about bullying beyond give out detentions, making the whole situation worse. One of my friends was bullied from Year 7 to Year 9 and nothing was done, except giving them a pass to leave school 5 minutes earlier so they wouldn't be able to jump her. Quite often the lessons make no sense to anyone, top or bottom set. Everyone hates going there for another load of lectures about our GCSE's and the pure rudeness of each student. One kid had said that he wanted to move to a place where LGBTQ+ could be offed. Another started barking when he heard about non-binary people. Fights are one of the most common things and the only highlight of the miserable days, except leaving of course. God gets pulled into every single thing, its laughable. On a daily basis we must say a prayer, and if you don't, you get berated for being disrespectful, regardless of your reasons. I and many of my friends and been yelled at for not saying the Lords Prayer, despite none of us being Christian or even religious. Student Services, contrary to the name, is terrible, If you say that your feeling sick you'll often be sent back to class or told to sit in sick bay for a few minutes but then get sent back anyway. On the rare occasion that they believe you are sick and call home, they often forget, leaving you in sick bay. One time, my sister had successfully managed to tell Student services that she was sick, just to be forgotten in sick bay for 2 hours without having contacted out mum. Little to no people here actually care about the students, only yelling at them the whole time.

Basis is, save yourself, your kids and everyone the trouble and don't send them to this hell hole

I still go here. Send help!

I've only been going to this school for the past year and a half and I'm still yet to see anything good come from this shit hole. Just the other day, a friend of mine was minding there own business at lunch, when a huge gang of wanna-be-gangsters came over and started beating the shit out of him. It started with them throwing water the him, which soon turned into the water bottles themselves. Then, it quickly progressed to them punching and kicking him and even one child threw a plate at him, a plate which was supplied by the school staff. Then they threw a tray at him, which hit him directly in the throat. You know what? A teacher was stood a few steps away, watching the whole thing. Children are forced to go outside in the most dangerous of weather. For example, in December, my class was forced to do PE outside, despite it being -15 degrees. Most of the girls had to go home due to feeling so ill. And what about the others? They had to go into isolation because they were late to class. You know why? Because there hands were to cold to move. Yesterday, I was late to school because of a panic attack which resulted in me getting a resolution (detention). When I told the front desk why I was late, they said, "Well you were still late". The only reason I had that panic attack in the first place, was because of this shitty school. This school is full of, chavs, 'Road men' and even more snot nosed little kids. Whatever you do, don't send your kid here. If you do, make sure you're able to afford therapy. Good luck to all the new kids starting here, next year. You'll need it.

Hopeless

Bullying is rife. Supply teachers not in control of classes. Disruption throughout lessons. Any child who is vulnerable should not be attending this school. No long term solution. It's all about attendance..bums on chairs.

This school needs some better people.

When I first looked at this school, I thought it would be a very safe environment full of memories to last. But I was wrong, there is litter everywhere I look, kids being pushed around everywhere I go and worst of all the teachers barely do anything about it. But I can’t complain too much. There are some great teachers and positive students, I actually learn something in most of my classes and the food is delicious. Overall, the safety is fine and is you still go I hope you have a better experience than I had.

Dont apply here

This school is not a good learning environment. Students don't learn due to teachers screaming in their faces if they do not understand and if they don’t do their work they get a detention (which is forty minutes after school). I think this ‘behaviour system’ is making children to seem poorly behaved but its for the smallest things; five minutes late to lesson, speaking to a peer in the classroom (even if it’s about their set work), walking on the wrong side of the corridor. Their new ‘barrier system’ is absolutely in shambles. Students are late to their lessons (which gives them detentions) because there is a barrier in every corridor so they have to walk all the way around the school and outside. Same for their break and lunch time, students get forty minutes lunch but if they want school food they’re waiting for 25-30 minutes in the line, then get sent straight outside even when they're not done. Students can’t socialise inside. There are only a handful of good teachers who give the support to students however the vast majority of teachers do not help children learn at all. Do not send your children here.

Uniform over education

School is more interested in enforcement of uniform than teaching the children. Issuing detentions to minors due to no blazer in 30 degree heat.

Think carefully before selecting this school.

This school is not consistent - rules differ for students - communication is dire - children with additional needs are not focused on at all - Uniform standards are abysmal - we amongst other parents removed our children from this school.

Outrageous school!

Overall, I would not send my child here. This is a disgusting school, my child came home crying his eyes out due to bullying. On many occasions he has came home very upset from teachers targeting him and picking on him, bullying is a severe issue in this school and teachers do nothing about it. Girls get a isolation if they roll their skirts up a tiny bit, my daughter left this school 2 years ago from this outrageous school and she has been much happier. My son was bullied for 6 months straight by a group of boys, everyday I rang the school they said they’d do something about it but nothing even happened. Most of the time they don’t even answer your phone calls or read your messages or emails. I think this is appalling for teachers to think that they manage a whole school when they can’t even answer a message or phone call.

Verbally abusing young children

I have found hope academy has gone extremely down hill over the last 5 years, the teachers seem like nothing but bullies and the senior members of staff defend their actions.
My daughter has been told she needs a slap in the face off one member of staff been called a idiot off another I'm at my wit's end with the school verbally abusing children as a grown adult is the ultimate bully I'm my eyes Mr Ward should be ashamed of himself I don't no how half of these teachers still have a job working with children.

This school is diabolical! So not crackerjack!

This school is the worst school to go to do not recommend!
Hope academy is a very not nice school!! It has litter everywhere and chavs littered even more…swearing in every conversation and teachers are absolute monkeys.my friend once got pinned to the wall by a young rebel student I do not like this it isnt very nice of him. Then he got put in the bin.the English teacher who I will leave un named is so bad, they couldn’t be bothered to set the seating plan and shout when you forget your seat after they change it over 5 times a week due to talking yet they put the talkative rebels together! They are so dumb I swear they can’t even teach my pet dog could’ve taught me more and she is dead. Not just the English teacher though as my friend was threatened with death and told to go off themselves by a naughty little man, and the teacher heard and I swear I heard it laugh. Teachers are constantly eating and drinking fluids yet students aren’t allowed to drink drinks or eat food even if they just got their lunch at the end of break. They bring religion into every lesson there is a cross in every room and you were not forced to pray before but recently they brought in this policy, my form tutor made us recite the prayer 3 times until we all read it even though the girl next to me was a Muslim and the other girl next to me on the other side was an atheist. Also to do with bullying my friend was put in a bag and pinned to the wall once (the same one that was put in the bin). when I was picking up my sister the other day I noticed a scumbag boy drawing very inappropriate images depicting ‘headphones’ on a lamp post.another thing is that the benches are now chained together (the black ones anyway and the white ones are bolted together) my sister told me of a radical awesome sauce moment that went down where a young scamp put benches on top of each other to escape the bullies and sit up there, however the teachers took the benches and moved them back ignoring the lad being beaten up with a picture of himself in year two as he had a crooked tooth. She was there that’s why I know this unfortunately. The queues last for half an hour on a short day and my sister got her food at the end and the teacher knew this and forced her to throw her unsanitary mystery meat in the bin (my sister now has an eating disorder and she has contracted atheism). The toilets are foul and absolutely not rad, the floors are tinted yellow (not sure why) the sinks are outside rarely contain soap and the water is either blasting my hands off or not coming out, I have nicknamed it vape central or skiving city people skive there and vape and the teachers only care because they’re not in lesson, and if you are in lesson you must have a toilet pass to leave yet you are still refused even if they DO actually have one, but my sister also caught ibs, Tetanus and got infected from being unable to go for 3 hours and the queue was so long at break she couldn’t even go inside. The reason she got tetanus was the toilet flusher cut her hand on it and her bag had to go on the floor as there are no hooks when she was picking up her bag she was hurt by a screw on the floor and it was rusty so she was injured… not the schools entire fault but as the flusher was sharp she was cut so they’re partly to blame… some teachers are good at teaching though and are very creative and interactive with the lessons I’ve had no problem with learning but bullying is a big issue and the school is so big and my sister was told the wrong directions and ended up in the furthest part of the school from her lesson when she was new due to scampy year eleven scumbags!

Don’t go here

Some good teachers who are very supportive but quite a lot of them are awful and pick on us for no reason
I started here in September and so far I’ve had a terrible time and a big problem is a lot of the bad teachers have a lot of control over the school
The dinners here are disgusting and are way overpriced
Since I started this school has had the opposite effect on my as I am not getting much smarter for the amount of work we are given and there is so much pressure on us it’s like we have to be perfect or we get a detention for only little things like being 10 seconds late to lesson in one word this school is in shambles and is awful
Also In pe the teachers don’t give you any chances at sports like basketball if you aren’t good at football or rugby and I don’t think they realise they are completely different sports

Secondary School

Cracking School - Daryl Rigby

Absolutely Cracking! Love it. Great job modernizing the school scene. My son had a load of support during his exams and got all 9s! 10/10, son loves the food, exterior and exterior is breathtaking compared to the other schools in Merseyside, teachers are helpful and understanding of potential issues, my son felt very safe in this school and he participated in the school football club

Bullying

I joined hope academy in year ten, from there on out it was cycle of repetitive bullying, undermining from the teachers, no care or help what so ever. Mental health and student welfare is brushed under the carpet unless you 'do as your told'. It was hard enough joining a school so late in the years but to then not gain a proper education or GCSES was the consequence for no true resources into solving the issue of the rife bullying and fights that take place in this god awful school! The teachers are so rude and from my personal experience one teacher called out my appearance in front of a class of 25-30 students, i was then the one to suffer the consequences when i tried time and time again to defend myself. I beg any parent to listen to their child when it comes to this school, thankfully my parents knew i would never lie no matter how bad the situation was and the teachers where caught out time and time again for completing twisting every situation. The only thing this school cares about is their rankings and ratings. i was told time and time again you will be nothing you will go no where, here i am with a great job, and even better life skills. The environment that Hope Academy provides is diabolical, personally i did not learn one thing in my two years of being their which is awful.

Stay away from this school

Terrible school. Lunch queues are sometimes so long we have to queue up for the whole of lunch and still get told off in lesson for eating. One of the teachers singles me and 4 others out. Automatic c4 every lesson for doing nothing. I coughed, and what did I get? C4 for general disruption.
Bullying and mental health issues are also big issues that need to be sorted. Teachers say they will help us our by giving us a time out for 1 minute. Like that's going to help my anxiety? They don't take bullying seriously.
Us girls get c2 for rolling our skirts up when in reality they shouldn't even be looking. Not once heard a boy say "I'm attracted to your knees" or mention anything about skirts. Shouldn't be sexualising girls. We should be allowed to roll our skirts up atleast above our knees.
We also get told off for texting our parents to pick us up because the school isn't letting us go home if we feel sick. Like they only let you go if there's evidence. Like what evidence do I have to show u? I'm not going to leave my sick in the toilet am I? So I shouldn't get a c3 for texting my mum because YOU won't let me go home. May aswell just throw up all over you, you'll just give me a paper towel and tell me to wipe it up and go back to lesson. No need for student services if they're only going to be passive aggressive and useless anyways.
Absolutely disgusting, needs to be sorted out.

Not a great school

Bullying is a major issue, a lot of the teachers dont care about it either
Also toilets are blocked off with shutters so there is only one set of toilets on the ground floor that students can use, or a disabled toilet on each floor

Girls get put in isolation or even sent home for rolling up skirts which I find quite stupid because as long as its not too high, it isnt bothering anyone. i have never experienced any boys talk about a girls skirt, but the teachers, on the other hand are the complete opposite.

Also, some of the queues for food are absolutely ridiculous, and sometimes people are given 5 minutes to eat their food after waiting in line for 30-35 minutes

However, some of the teachers are absolutely fabulous and really helpful. In my personal experience, ive only ever had problems with one teacher

Disappointment

Terrible for mental health. Do not help the pupils who really need it. Some staff are lazy and immature. Bullying is a huge issue in this school, and nothing is done about it. and that main road coming out of school always has traffic and the pupils, fight or act stupid their after they finish school. Don’t let your kid go to this school.

Severe Bullying

Severe bullying problems. Teachers (especially senior staff) are more immature than the students, often act inappropriatly, and do not know how to deal with or support students with issues within and outside the school.

Having said that, there are some exceptional subject teachers, and supported me through my GCSEs.
