Non-uniform days taken away?

One thing that I don't understand is that they took away non-uniform days so that everyone feels included but added culture day, which doesn't include everyone. I understand that it's a bit different for both situations but it just seems a bit hypocritical.

Appalling.

Don’t even know where to begin with this school. I’ve been here for a fair few years now. Doesn’t get any better. In-fact it’s gotten worse.
In the last few years my grades have dropped significantly as the teachers genuinly can’t be bothered to teach properly. They let the loud and ‘popular’ kids do whatever and cannot and do not try and control them. I have reached out numerous times (over 10) in all my time at MAA to try and receive help as u struggle with anxiety and depression and school is a struggle for me. At this time I have still not received any response other than a little 10 minute chat where they promise me all this and then do nothing. The teachers portray blatant favouritism and I do feel like I don’t exist when I sit in certain lessons. I have been in a few situations where I’ve written a statement about somebody and just been told ‘it’s a misunderstanding’ even when I had been called/seen people be called awful names. I honestly do not recommend coming here, the second I can leave I definitely will. We also had a 5 minute video of the headteacher enforcing rules before ofsted came - but I thought it was meant to be treated as a normal school day?
Another thing I dislike is the attendance aspect. I’ve tried so many times to receive help , in order to try and go to school comfortably, however when they ignore me and I don’t attend my parents are blamed. Like maybe if they respected students more than more students would attend and be more happy within the school. More and more teachers are leaving the school so substitute teachers are to be expected. Which for children who suffer with loud noises , will trigger them. There has also been a situation where somebody has gotten into school property and the door was left opened and unattended by a teacher.
There are so many other reasons this school is failing, but I’ll leave it at that for now .

Review from recent student

The education at this school is a major issue. As an example, there is a large supply teacher issue, as shown with certain classes only having them and not a permanent teacher.
On the opposing view, the staff and teachers are very kind and polite for the majority.
Personally, I feel like my safety at this school is not as it should be, for I am constantly yelled at by classmates, this could even be considered bullying, yet without punishment.
The indoor environment is very average and basic, with the most unique thing being the teachers or the whiteboard "Do Nows."
The outdoor environment is a large improvement from the indoor environment, as it is very accommodating for everyone.
The food and meals are very lacking in flavour, mostly tasting dry and some students refusing to eat and bring their own from home.
The information given before starting the school is very poor, even giving the wrong essentials to have on the first day.
The activities and clubs are the only good thing at this school, as they have clubs for almost anything and some being run by students themselves

Beware, PLEASE READ!

This school is honestly awful, slt does not care about students whatsoever and new rules are made every day. Racism and bullying are brushed off and ignored (my friend reported someone being racist and they didn't care) yet they care about uniform more than anything - they go so far as to make you line up before school just to check peoples uniforms.

Staff confiscates any jewelry and easily looses it, so many people have lost expensive rings, earrings, etc due to incompetent staff. Yes, we shouldn't be bringing that in, but why can't we just store it ourselves?

Teachers are also awful, the only good learning ive had was from Miss Palmer, Miss De Raeve and Miss Mohammud. So many teachers teaching core subjects who aren't even experienced in the matter, and subsitutes that just sit on their phones rather than teaching. The amount of times i've arrived to lesson with the teacher missing is uncountable.

If you read this, PLEASE DON'T SEND YOUR CHILD HERE!! It's incredibly draining for mental health and I guarantee you won't find any good education here whatsoever.

WORST SCHOOL DON'T SEND KIDS

This is the worst school ever u get bullied and they only get isolation like that will change them, the toilets have no doors and no mirrors. Sometimes I feel so unsafe because of how bad the bulling is. People get called racist names like monkey or gorilla and still those people only gets isolation. Girls like me will of course get our periods and some teachers won't even let us go to the toilet to change our pads. One of my friends moved schools because her dad hated the school and now I known that not only does the students hate the school the parents hate it to. They also tell us to use our voice but won't let us speak when we have been falsely accused of something they tell us to report when we are being bullied but then they only give the bully isolation(means when u have to stay in a room for the whole day and just do work) all of this is absolutely unacceptable and as grown ups I thought u will know better PLEASE CHANGE THE SCHOOL RULES , CHANGE THE PRINCABLE OR SHUT THE SCHOOL DOWN. DON'T SEND YOU'RE KIDS TO THIS TERRIBLE SCHOOL

Shit school

Honestly they rely on sixth formers to do everything for the school . Examples being that sixth form students are expected to help out at lunch times with duty , expected to run enrichment activities during and after school , have enough time to plan events for the school such as culture day and a lot more whilst teachers and staff are doing nothing

Shit school don’t attend

Honestly couldn’t care less about the students and half the teachers are leaving due to poor pay as well as poor standards regarding life within the school as teachers as well as sixth formers are expected to do everything for the school as pastoral and the heads are expected to sit back and relax whilst not doing anything about the bullying or racism happening within the school

A very bad school

This school is horrible. The teachers are very unfair. They care about uniform more than the students themselves. It's draining and racism is mot handled well. There's too many new rules that exhaust the students and there's too many tiring assembly's of the same thing. It's horrible , it's like prison more than a school.

Okay but…

The school provided good opportunities and supported students but many students were forgotten and communication home was shocking. Termly reports didn’t follow government policy and was difficult for parents to understand and support school work from their end. Never handled conflicts or bullying particularly well - often causing more stress before mainly giving up and letting things sort themselves out. Sporting and music opportunities were very good whilst I was there and some teachers were amazing and extremely supportive. I do however feel that my grades could’ve been higher if I’d had more consistent teaching throughout my whole time there as I constantly had supply teachers and had a ‘permanent supply’ for a whole year who didn’t teach us anything. Also, some of the rules were completely ridiculous and not what should be prioritised above learning in a school. For example, if a girl’s ankles weren’t covered by her trousers or socks, she would have been given an enormous pair of school socks to wear instead. There was also a rule where all equipment, including an a4 folder, a pencil case, an a5 notebook and a 30 cm ruler had to be placed on your desk as well as your exercise book and equipment had to be carried in students’ hands between lessons. Simply didn’t make sense. I believe that sometimes they put their effort into small things like this, rather than teaching students and ensuring they get the grades they deserve at the end of their school journey, which to me is the most important part of school.

This school is appaling.

This school is literally the worst. The teachers (with a few exceptions) don't care about the students' opinions and often force rules without listening to students. For example, for a few months, they had a rule that you had to carry your backpack in your hands. While this rule was stupid enough, the handle on the backpack was tiny and hurt your hand no matter how you held it.
There is a one-way system but only on G-Floor and the system was maintained so that if you went the wrong way, you were forced to walk around the entire school and be late for class and receive a 30 minute detention after school.
The school "values" difference among students. "Be yourself! Don't let anyone dull your sparkle!" However, you are required to look the same as everyone else. No dyed hair, no piercings, you must wear your blazer and cannot remove it without permission. Removal of blazer without permission warrants a 30 minute detention.
The security is poor. I managed to escape twice because the door was left unlocked. (I know it was wrong but I felt the need to share.)
The bullying is horrendous.
At the end of my last year, the head teacher promised a gender-neutral toilet. I had left before construction was finished and I heard from friends who still go there that the toilet was basically a disabled toilet with "gender-neutral plastered on the door. It was a one-in one-out type of thing and I heard that two students were caught having s*x in the toilet.
The girls' P.E uniform is V-Neck that goes to the chest with no buttons. The boys' uniform had buttons and tampering with the uniform was forbidden.
The flowers are cool, I guess.
Overall, this is a bad school. It ruined my mental health for the 3 years I had the displeasure of attending for. The quality is appaling and I'm suprised OFSTED haven't shut the school down.

all talk no substance

this school is all about making itself look good while the rules just get worse . whether you have an ok experience depends soley on your teacher since the rules are so malleable and seem to be there not to help the students but just for the sake being strict. mental health services suck unless youre diagnosed, and even then theyre not particularly good. additionally its really badly planned and organised, the smallest thing seems to completely break this school

It is getting better!

It is certainly back to where it needs to be. Teachers and SLT now realise the importance of mental health and helping children grow, instead of being beaten down metaphorically by harsh standards that don’t make sense.

Keep it up!

Do not go!!!

Bad school bad teachers do not send your child here. Worst years of my life. I got given a trainee teaches for my GCSE years and I was punished for things I didn’t do causing me to get moved to the other side of the year. I then had to make all new friends and get to know completely different people
