VERY VERY Average and pretty dull
Quite old fashioned in many ways..
I've noticed here that the staff are afraid to stay off in case they’re put on a 'disciplinary'. The moral of staff seems generally quite poor and no one’s really having much fun tbh. The SLT appear pretty inexperienced and hence, insecure about their authority, so rule with an arbitrary and iron-like manner. Dictates are handed out on a regular basis after the latest training course..
A noro-virus outbreak before the summer 24 which had half the kids sent home and a quarter of the staff off sick, saw some staff wearing the old face masks. This reason being given-, they were afraid of getting sick and being put on a ‘disciplinary’…what in the world!
In such a school, where the hygiene habits/ levels of the pupils are below the average and where infections spreads rapidly, this seemed a little Victorian.
No union representation evident. Another 'we don't recognise unions' school in seems...
There are many staff here who all have stories of broken ribs and infections that will not clear up, caught or caused at school; which makes me think strongly that the TAs should be paid more and paid ‘danger money’. The staff feel over worked, under paid and under appreciated. And yet, classes are routinely given to TA's to cover and inexperienced teachers given posts (because they're cheap!)
Lovely children… but not an ideal place to work at all.
Maybe it’s not old fashioned at all; maybe this is how schools will be run in the future ie. ‘The Victorian model’...
