Systematic bullying/abuse and staff who couldn't care less.
I have two daughters who attend ponteland high and both have been the subject of horrible abuse/bullying. My eldest was physically restrained by two male students so she couldn't get to her taxi, resulting in an almost 3 hour bus journey home. They have both had numerous substances poured onto and into their hair and clothing.
The staff couldn't care less, they are reactive to bullying relying on CCTV after the fact, rather than use it proactively, and even then they protect these abusers (let's call them what they really are).
If you value your child's mental and physical wellbeing I would avoid this place like the plague.
Ponteland high is a fantastic school for academic students but fails the rest of their pupils who do not conform to the strict rules that stifle students who think outside the box and challenge bullying conformist rules that challenge students who disagree .In the past pupils who had problems with other pupils were put in a room to discuss their problems with an appropriate adult … today they just exclude pupils with evidence of cctv which we all know just tells half the story. This post won’t make any difference as the governors just want to tick the right boxes for their academic students not those who can shine bright if given the right guidance!
This school is good but it could be better. Sometimes I don’t eat at lunch because there is nothing there I can eat and the way they handle disagreements with students is bad. Other than that this is a great school. Good lessons have made loads of friends. (However I don’t really like the uniform it’s a bit dull, like it’s grey u could at least make it a colour or just make it black)
