Range is not a nice learning environment

Everyday I didn’t want to come into school because I didn’t have many friends at all, Me and my Parents asked the school for some advice and they didn’t deliver. The building is outdated and older years used to harass younger years all of the time. If you need the toilet you cannot go in lesson even if you are a female in the middle of her cycle, And you cannot go at breaks because people party in there and smoke. The meals are ok after the revamp of the menu. Overall I don’t recommend Range to any new starter

Will be a merged academy soon.

I worked there for a brief period and the support from staff was abysmal. They acted like a good school but under the surface it is under resourced, in debt and answers to the parents because they are afraid of losing any funding given to them per student. Some senior members of staff did not know what the outcome of a scheme of work was supposed to be. They were making it up as they went along and other teachers were walking students through answers during TAGS process. I also agree with other comments that matters of social inclusivity were advertised but never practiced. Shit hole of a school.

Abysmal

After 5 years of attending Range, I finally left for Sixth Form and I couldn't be happier. The school only care about you if you're a pristine athlete or a perfect-grade academic. The mental health support is abysmal, they didn't do a thing about the multiple threats I recieved, the constant bullying, it was dreadful. If you care about your child's mental health, don't send them here

Discrimination

The school has failed to deal with discrimination and as a pupil who is part of the LGBT community I find that the school is negligent towards these affairs and discrimination as a whole.

Usually what they try to do is force a half-hearted apology out of whomever was discriminatory and they make no effort to stop discrimination as a whole besides an assembly which does nothing.

At one point a teacher pulled me and my friendship group out of a classroom and into his office to discuss "parental concerns", of which were homophobic nonsense just because there is a significant amount of people in our friend group who are gay. He then went on to insult our friendship, saying that the only reason we are friends is our sexuality.

Nowhere near as good as it used to be

I and someone close to me were consistently provided inadequate support by the people working at this school, which only became a problem relatively recently, when there was a mass exodus of staff members due to a bad Ofsted report.
I had to endure constant bullying that was never properly dealt with throughout the nearly seven years I was at Range.
One staff member would act in a very strict and demanding way towards me, even though they were supposed to be the one helping me get through stressful situations. They did not try to help ease me into the A-level environment. Rather, they condescendingly talked down to me instead.
The school used to run events such as “Magnet Days”, an entire day where students could participate in activities such as visiting museums or making a newspaper report about a fictional narrative. These were soon replaced by “citizenship days”, where the tasks were also interesting and more grounded in reality. Unfortunately, these were reduced to “citizenship mornings”, where the focus was essentially shoving university prospects down peoples’ throats.

Good lessons, no control over students

No control in making students behave, my class is always getting put on report because of how much they misbehave. When being bullied, no action except a detention. NOT EVEN A PHONE CALL!
Most teachers are quite nice, and lessons are fun, yet challenging Overall not a bad school just need control of behaviour
