I finished at RCPS back in 2018 but can still remember my time (mainly in Year 6). The doctors had told my mum that I was suspected as having Autism and needed to contact the school to bring someone in the assess me, where they flat out refused, which I suspect had something to do with the fact it was my last year and they could pass it on to my Secondary School to deal with. It is ironic because, with the knowledge I could be on the spectrum, I remember certain instances where my teachers were really nasty to me, the most prominent one being mocking me in front of the class for supposedly playing capture the flag wrong. Not the kindest individuals working there, or at least back then. I mean I got told off once for reading during a play rehearsal (we were told to bring books to read when we weren't doing an active role lol), and for saying I couldn't attend something. Funnily enough, they never told off the popular kids for being rude to the quieter ones...
i'm in year eight currently and i left this school just before year 5.
i didn't have a good experience.
i got bullied HARD by this one kid who had special needs, and because he had special needs they did nothing about it.
the five teachers i had during my time there also failed to notice my (at the time undiagnosed) autism and dyspraxia, but it was noticed by my new teacher at my new school within 3 months of me joining and I got a formal diagnosis 7 months after joining my new school. So this school's sen provision wasn't very good.
I remember one day when we came back to schl after lockdown and covid was still a big thing - someone had taken a test for it that came back positive, so their response was to tell all the kids there was 'something in the playground', causing panic and fear among the kids, in order to keep us inside while our parents came to pick us up. I ended up having a panic attack. very poor management - they could have just been honest.
back to my bullying - the teachers actually told me that i was lying about the bullying.
i remember one really humiliating experience where said bully (who was a male) pulled my trousers down completely unprovoked (i'm a female which made it even worse.)
the school did not carry a proper investigation into it and i was left scarred, and i was also told i was lying about the whole thing to get my bully in trouble.
oh yeah. i was also forced to eat a curry i couldnt swallow and was kept in the dining hall ALL LUNCHTIME, completely alone, to eat this curry.
not great. wouldn't really recommend this school.
