CMAT the irrelevant trust

Under Clare Raku Sharnbrook academy joined CMAT it was branded as this great next step but in reality it was just because the school has horrible financial management and so “somehow” became bankrupted and so as a last ditch effort it joined CMAT to secure funding. Was this good for the school?
NO! The only affect it had was to show how badly managed the school is and hoe the school is willing to drag its reputation in the dirt.
But there is no changing what has happened as i am sure if the school left the trust it would just become a well of debt so i would like to say that this school is soulless badly managed and is the shadow of an image compared to what it once was.

This pains me to wright as i used to like my time at this school but more and more it feels like a pit of despair and stupidity.(as in managed with stupidity)

Don’t go here

I hated Sharnbrook School from the day I started to the day I left. As is mentioned in other reviews, their pastoral care is awful and they are only bothered about the students that fit their ‘ideal’ image which means that those who don’t get ignored and end up feeling completely isolated.
If my experience here has taught me one thing, it’s that ofsted reports mean absolutely nothing, but care and compassion shown means everything.

good school

Sharnbrook is an ok school. the teachers (I find) are nice, and most students are good choices for friends too. however, I find some of their systems a little restricting, and bullying and fights aren't dealt with in the best manner, but overall the school is good. the school uniform standards are good all the way up to year 10/11 where students just dress in a way that's not good, but not bad enough to be told off. if you attend this school, and have a good attitude towards learning, and are skilled, chances are you'll find someone naughty who's friends probably vape, that will pick on you. enjoyable 80% of the time

p.s the school food is FANTASTIC (except for when they run low on money and have to use low quality cheese)

Compensating for a glorified past

Very unimpressed when I visited for my year 6 daughter looking at secondary schools, and also on a professional basis for my job.

When we visited as prospective parents/pupil, I just found the place numbing and soul less. Pupils there had little to no interest showing us around. Also too many people trying to look - why are these evenings not put on in the summer holidays or over a number of weekends? It definitely rides on it former reputation as I attended 20 years ago, but back then it was a happy atmosphere, everyone followed the rules.

I then visited a few weeks after on a professional basis to talk to year 11s about careers. Not one person was interested - I never had a careers event at that age. I couldn't believe how they were presented and dressed - girls wearing gel and acrylic nails, earrings, uniforms that were not part of the rules. I thought their attitudes were absolutely appalling, I will never go again.

My daughter is not going there, she is going to a Northamptonshire school instead which has enthusiastic teachers and pupils.

Soul destroying

I have worked for this school through a cleaning company and i was here for four years. And no not one person from that school is interested in the cleaning team let me tell you that. These kids reviews are so true, bullying from kids to adults they dont want to know they have lost 7 members of cleaning staff! Over the last month. We have had 9 adults to clean up after 1900 children and 200 staff!. The school is absulotley massive, understaffed never paid properly and also a propesctive parent if this is how you let your team and members of staff be treated. Then im sorry but what chance has 1900 children got if you can not even help 7 cleaners from being worn down, i have never worked in a place where i have felt so bad. And as for my 3 sons they will never attend this school, the deputy bragging about putting ofsted off for now,That is not what you eant to hear as a parent! The way i have been spoken to by some of the teachers, there has been an occasion where one of our cleaners was told to move after the teacher 'realised she wasn't a sixth former' - thats worse. And you know on top of alot of things you see and hear in a school, no respect or compassion for anyone or anything there is a few good people left in this school. Do not be linded by its amazingly old reputation that no longer exists.

Absolutely horrid environment

My experience at sharnbrook was horrible. I went in thinking that it was a great school with loads of creative resources and great teachers then ended up experiencing the opposite. Very few of the teachers were able to control a class or talk to students with anxiety issues without picking on them constantly. The key services department was a let down too, they often forced students into lessons and refused to help anyone other than their personal favourites, if someone was struggling then they wouldn’t do anything as they thought the case was too complicated. I left this school with far more trauma than i went in with. I pity every student who is still going there, the amount of bullying, homophobia and racism that goes on it that school will affect many students until a change is made. When looking at schools i highly recommended against sharnbrook based on my own experience and all of my friends experiences there.

Not grear

Bad school they just care more about looking good than the individual student..
Leggings were banned because “they’re distracting to males” which is sexualising the girls. That’s not the girls fault it’s the boys. Not enough indoor places for students
Most have to stand outside in rain/wind/snow/hail etc
No social distancing between lessons n mixed with 2k students

Don’t recommend

I went to this school and I wish I never did. And although it may not be the same for everyone my peers would certainly agree. I spent a year being harassed by a teacher, being followed picked out and being made to feel uncomfortable daily. But was not listened too just for being a child. The pastoral care team were very biased against me and ended up making me feel worse and requiring professional help. My teachers were more concerned with uniform violations than if I was actually ok. My creativity and love for school was quickly stifled and I slowly became a sharnbrook robot. A walking talking breathing grade machine used to make the school look good. I was also bullied and ignored for months by any staff apart from ones who have sadly left and was told to fend for myself when I was listened too. The amount of times I was made to feel less than human were uncountable. Now I know this is just a review on a page that may go unnoticed and may not even have been read, but if you are reading this I implore you not to go here. If there is anything creative or slightly different about you or your child do not send them here. It will be picked on. It will be a weakness. And they do not stand for weaknesses. I implore you to think carefully about this decision as this school left me with trauma I’m still working through now. And I don’t want that to happen to anyone else.

I wouldn’t recommend

I hated this school, it made me feel as though I wasn’t a person anymore. They didn’t care about me or how I felt they only cared about grades and uniform. I was harassed by one of the teachers continuously for a year and it was never taken seriously becuase I was a child. And the pastoral team were biased to other people and made my overall mental health much worse. If your child is in any way creative or imaginative or different from a working robot don’t send them here. I cannot stress enough that this school although looks good on the surface is not what you would expect. The grades may come out well but at a great cost to the children along the way. Please think carefully before sending anyone into this school as they will not come out the same person.

don’t recommend for gcse level

this school is not good and has gotten worse with the new head teacher. rules are focused more on making everybody look the same and banning any form of self expression rather than safety and mental well-being of the students. teachers have frequently said they don’t need to teach us because they don’t like us. teachers swear and make rude comments to and about the students. there isn’t even enough indoor areas for many students; about 3/4 of year 11 students have to stay outside at break and lunch even during torrential rain and left so sit or stand on concrete slabs or stand in the road which we then get told off for standing on because of cars.

better than harrold middle/primary school but its awful once you get into year 9. teachers always leave and have minimal help, bullying is not helped and the whole school feels like a prison. the head spends funds on getting new windows fitted in a building with the exact same windows but doesn’t fix shattered doors. no freedom whatsoever and organised extremely poorly. three minutes between each lesson, some teachers expect you to be at their class before the three mins and won’t let you out until after three minutes. got worse over the years as well. definitely don’t feel safe or like i can reach out and get the help needed.
