This school is really bad, first of all the teachers are very rude ,mean and not acceptable the teachers give you a detention and never tell you what day it is when you realise you end up with a note that you have a detention afterschool the changes and the rules of t he school is very unfair if you you are 5 minute late you get a detention like even if you are 6 -7 minutes late you get a detention you forget what the rules and you are talking to a teacher when she tells you about things and she forgets about the note and things you are not even that late then you get a detention and then behaviour in his school is unacceptable when the students are being rude and very bad the teachers just say just ignore it I didn't hear it unless I hear a very bad word like a racist word like it's not good even please change the the rules and actions

STAY AWAY.
I know it seems abit strange, stay away, but I mean this in the literal sense. This school will set you up to fail miserably, to the parents who may want to bring their child here, it may seem all nice and dandy from the book cover, but take it from someone who read the book, this school is from top to bottom the absolute most disgusting and terrible schools I could have ever had the choice of going to.
I have been bullied repeatedly, and the teachers idly stand by, giving me sweet words of confidence that they’d do something, only to find myself living the same hell. I then finally defend myself from these situations, and I find myself in detention while bullies walk free.
But this is not the only problem we have here, this only scrapes the problems with this ‘school’
The headteacher is incompetent.
She had never interacted with students unless it was for the eyes of the parents.
The school is inherently racist and homophobic when they oh so claim to be an open and loving community.
The teachers are terribly mean.
Honestly the list goes on.
I suffer from depression and trauma due to my school life here. The only thing that was even remotely good about this place, was the end of the day.
If you were to say this to their face, they would have absolutely nothing to say because they know it’s all true.
If anyone reads this thinking about working/ sending their child here? Don’t. You will be setting yourself/your child up for future therapy/trauma/depression and a lasting question, ‘why?’

not that bad
It's a good school. I can understand why people disliked steds before but man its not too bad anymore. It only matters about the people you surround yourself with. Thw workload isn't too much. I'd say the teachers (for the most part) are alright. Friends really make the experience so hang out with people that hang out with you.
What type of nonsense
Chaiiii this school was a sh*T skl my experience was absolutely deaddddd 5 years at this knacks school I only enjoyed a small portion of it because of the people in my year. The head department were practically useless then a certain teacher came in yr 9 and it went downhill from there they even had the audacity to make him deputy and head of year. Just thinking about steds gives me a headache.Good luck to all the future students who attend that joke of a school.

If I could give this school no stars, I'd do it in a heartbeat. This school's leadership team is corrupt and downright repulsive. The abuse of power is evident, they exclude students for no reason and snatch maybe life-changing opportunities away from students at the blink of an eye. This school is so eager to disadvantage their black students and cherry pick the same 10 students- mostly all white to receive awards and opportunities that they may not always deserve. Although they are incredible students, if this school claims to be inclusive and family-like, they could make the effort to look beyond their white washed horizons.
To say that some of the school's staff members need psychological evaluation would be an understatement *** ******* ***** *** ** ******,** *****,** *****,** ***** *** **** *****
Racism, homophobia and downright ignorance is normalized culture at this school. For claiming to be such a loving community, this school should be shut down or at the very least reformed completely from the ground up. Point Blank Period.
Many teachers have been given the sack for standing up for their students when they have been discriminated against and others have left as it was just a terrible environment to work in.
Its laughable really. For a school that sets itself around such Christian values, its is a mockery of a faith school. Its a mockery of a school Infact.
I think the leadership team would find better employment in prisons, they would definitely be able to reform some criminals and make them not want to ever step foot in prison again.
Being a student here for 5 years and having finally left in 2021, we have been robbed of a good education, been subject to abuse and forms assault not only by teachers but by fellow students too. Told to keep quiet and behave when staff members are openly racist and rude with of course NO REPERCUSSIONS. We've been dictated on how to style our hair as a black girls because of course black hair is, unprofessional. Personally, I've even been told to cut my hair by teachers so that my straight haired, presentable students wont be distracted. Yes. That happened.
Oh yes. Due to this schools incompetence to perform and do the bare minimum, the entire year group had to teach themselves most of their subjects with the only motivation to succeed being to not have to re-enrol in this school for sixth form. This will 100% continue to happen for the foreseeable future I predict so, if you want your child to get somewhere in life academically don't send them here.
This school refuses to acknowledge their faults and continuously puts themselves on a high pedestal claiming to be the best non-private, co-ed school. This is a downright lie. Infact ABOMINABLE. They continue to blame their students. Or should I say their POC STUDENTS, for the bad that happens at this school and ignore the clear faults in their line of leadership. Of course, there are always going to be a few bad apples but the privilege some of these 'bad apple' students are given despite being bad is downright insane considering they cause some of the problems at this school.
Could you imagine being a student that is always behaved well and deserving of opportunities being stripped of those rights by students who didn't get excluded in a week therefore making them deserving of utmost praise. Yeah. That's St Edwards for you. That will be your reality.
The only thing that kept me and many of my friends sane in this school was the euphoric dream of finally leaving this school, I dare say.
The grass is definitely GREENER on the OTHER SIDE.
This school left me needing to UNFAILINGLY seek therapy in the foreseeable future. Don't let that be you.

Yeah it's alright
It's an ok school, it's on the come-up. They've started to provide more opportunities and made year groups smaller so more focus is put on students who may need help. They've started listening to the students and what they want. GCSE course is alright :3 Overall, 7/10. It's not the best school and still needs ironing out in some places. Fights are few and far between, the 'jungle days' are over at Steds.

DANGEROUS. When I was in year 9 a boy in my English class brought a knife to school... he didn't use it... Dangerous
LACK OF SUPPORT
Firstly the teachers aren't supportive. I once went to the closest teacher near me to ask for a plastic bag at break time In case they had one for my football shoes and was told to get out. In year 8 I wasn't talking my friend was talking when the teacher was explaining she turned around. And I got screamed at to get out... Then in school I had a meeting to introduce the school. The teachers said I could come back to the room to get cupcakes I come back at break and another teacher gives me a cold look and throws it in the bin...
LACK OF HELP
I was once told to go to the chapel to see a teacher. No teacher is there. I go to student services and say no teacher has showed up. And all they say is oh. And then apparently I'm forced to say something along the lines of could u please ask why they teacher didn't show up... Like student services should know how to deal with these scenarios without me having to over explain.
CARELESSNESS
Then in school in year 10/11 my grades declined and I got moved down from set 1 to set 2. For maths and for science I got moved directly from set 1 to set 3 without a chance in set 2... I don't know why the head of science done that. I shouldve been given a chance in set 2. and almost foundation Spanish. And instead of asking if everything is ok. People just decide to make fun of me. Even teachers said to my friend he was in set 1... Why is he doing so poorly. Without directly asking me... Reasons
LACK OF DIRECT ENCOURAGEMENT
ON THE SCHOOL STAGE. For the black history month talent and fashion show. I begged to come on stage politely and was told no... But I brought my stuff anyway and ignored the instructions and came on the stage without permission snuck on from backstage and solved the Rubik's cube blindfolded and the year groups and other teachers were cheering. Everyone said my performance was the best even the year before when I done it. And yet they still didn't want me on the stage. The school teaches inclusivity and I wasn't included... So I forced myself to come on...
On the football team in year 10 I played pretty poorly. And to no surprise I got taken off the team. I found out seeing the team sheet. But at least tell me... I wasn't surprised but imagine if I didn't see the team sheet... Then what...
FORCED TO LIE TO INCREASE RATINGS
Also there was a minister from Trinidad that came and me and my friend had to represent. And we were forced to lie about how good the school is with dealing with trouble. But it was ironic because literally MINUTES before she entered a FIGHT broke out in the year 11 canteen next to the Christian Chapel I was inside and saw the brutal fight. A girl and boy both part of the lgbt was fighting. And the girl lost 2 strands or whatever u call it of her African hair. And her nose was BLEEDING AND SHE WAS CRYING... And yet our school teaches tolerance and love... And inclusivity
EXTREMELY STUPID RULES
Also having School finish at 4pm on Mondays is just a rubbish new rule they implemented for no reason
And don't even get me started on the 1 way system. Like there is an entrance and exit to the canteen the exit is very close to were the actual food is served... So obviously since I had a lunch club I should be allowed to get my food as quick as possible right... But no I'm told to go the whole way round to the entrance of the canteen... Like if I'm in a hurry they should allow an exception to enter through the exit... But no it must be followed....
AGGRESSIVE TEACHERS
Then Alot of teachers are so aggressive for no reason. I had a school play to perform for after school. So I found a huge matt to lay on because I had to wait 4 hours since it started at 7. And I had my packed lunch and all. And a teacher tells me to just get out and go elsewhere... Like I wasn't even disturbing her at all. She isn't a PE teacher. All the PE teachers left already... I didn't see what I did wrong
NO STUDY LEAVE either! In year 11 the head teacher said she wouldnt give us Study leave because it will affect our grades. But times have changed a lot.. kids can't focus for let alone a few mins after watching tiktok and now ur forcing us to focus for hours on end... EVEN FOR MATHS PAPER 3 my friend snuck out following a van exiting the school because we weren't allowed to leave. The Stupid school told us to stay despite not having exams for the rest of the day. We done 4 lessons doing nothing just to go straight home.... Including a PSHE and English lesson which we already completed all the papers for ..
LACK OF HELP
In year 11 I gave an English essay for my teacher to mark. And she said she will do it. And it took her 2 weeks... And she didn't even remember until I reminded her... I asked for it like 3x and then she finally remembered like oh yh. I'll do it ... Like what is she doing... I'm in big boy year 11... Not year 8 or something... I'm on the priority list alongside her year 13s... And the lack of support was very frustrating
there is even more... But I know most people don't like reading all this paragraphs. But take it to mind. If your a parent that this school isnt the best. DONT BE FOOLED BY THE RATINGS OR FAKE SMILES ON OPEN DAYS
I was a top student at one point doing lots of extra curricurs. Was quiet followed the rules. And the school still found a way to ruin my experience
