If you have female children or children from an ethnic minority who speak little to no English, then this is the school for you. It bends over backwards to be seen as progressive when it comes to girls and non-English speakers. However, if you have white male children, then think twice. This is a school that sees white boys as a problem, something to be crushed and emasculated. It has no tolerance for white boys at all. It views normal male attitudes and exuberances as bad. If you want your son to be given confidence, to be taught pride in who they are, to feel valued, then don't send them here. The ethos is very much anti-male. White boys are undervalued in society in general, and St Joseph's seems to pride itself on promoting this attitude to the full. The predominantly female staff have an anti-male bias that come across in almost every aspect of their dealings with white male children at the school. It's shocking.
