Allowing disabled kids to be bullied, reporting to OFSTED!!

Do not let your child attend this school if your child is mentally ill or has a disability.

I’ve attended this school between 2012-2017, I was bullied non stop due to my mental health issues. Teachers would do nothing about it apart from “a talk” which would do nothing. If your child defends themselves the child will be blamed, given detentions, isolation etc. They only care when you leave truthful reviews that might “ruin their reputation.” I ended up in a psychiatric unit due multiple suicide attempts.

My little sister who has unfortunately being left disabled due to cancer is a massive target for bullying. Once again they’ve blamed her for defending herself and singling her out. So far the school is doing nothing to support my sister.. She wants to die because of SMRT. They’ve previously threatened her with police because she’s too scared to go to the school anymore.

Do better. Otherwise I will report all of you to OFSTED!

Bullying

I and my sibling were both bullied at that school. Don’t send your child there if you don’t want them to be traumatised for life. I still have nightmares about the incidents that occurred. The receptionists and teachers are useless and don’t do anything to defend those who actually need it. Still regret not fully speaking up. For a Christian school it is not Christian like at all.

GCSEs

Outstanding school

Extremely outstanding school that both my children attended one still there.
SMRT being the best school they ever went too. The care and understanding thought in RE and alive values and their education makes for a more rounded person confident and prepared for the life and career they aspire to be.

Not having too many GCSEs so the young person doesn’t suffer mental health and has time to do other things.

Recommend

I'm a class of 2020 leaver, and there have been many ups and downs throughout my time here. I will be honest and say that I think some teachers and cover teachers struggle to manage a classroom with misbehaving teens. The teachers were hilarious at times and did help me with any problems I had, although I think that I have left the school not being able to manage my anger due to bullying. I would recommend this school even though the way they deal with bullying may not be the best, but at least I have some memories I can laugh at now 😁

Failing to take accountability and allows bullying in the school

OFSTED needs to close this school down.

This school has far from a posh school, sorry to break to you. Teachers are vile to students who suffer from physical and/or mental disabilities and fail to take accountability with EVERYTHING! The teachers are narcissistic.
I would give this school 0 stars if it was possible. This school is awful when it comes to bullying, harassment and dealing with retaliation. I went to this school for 4 years until I was taken out for poor mental health and too high risk in the community. I experienced bullying for 4 years and the Head Teacher was more concerned about irrelevant "Headphones" or why I would runaway to get away from the bullying, they were never interested in sorting out the problem and failed to take accountability as a school. They do not care for anything well-being and are happy to let students bullying vulnerable people until they hurt themselves. From 2013-2017 at least 10 students I knew had to leave SMRT and attend a different school because SMRT will not take accountability for bullies, let alone their own toxic behaviour.
(Which was the staff AND students!) They never took accountability for bullying not even when the student stops going into school or gets sectioned. They're happy to punish vulnerable student for self-defence but will allow/accept a student/bully get away with dangerous behaviour. I had a lovely learning mentor who tried her best to make school less stressful...Which obviously didn’t work. I do not recommend this school if your child has been bullied in the past.

My sister is now being bullied online AND in school. SMRT can’t deal with students with mental illness and if your child has physical disabilities. Teachers will label you as a “bad kid” if you retaliate to bullying and you’ll be punished more than the bully. (as the teachers can’t be bothered to deal with it) This school has the most lazy employees it baffles me knowing that they’re just wanting their pay check and don’t give a toss about their students, their future. 😂 My sister has called me crying because of a certain teacher that’s been emotionally abusive towards her but this school can’t be bothered to deal with their failures.

If an assault were to happen on their school site they fail to take accountability and blame the students! They even ask degrading questions like “clearly it hasn’t effected you by THAT MUCH!”

Don’t send your child to this school

Unless you’re some so called “upper class mum from the PTFA” this school is awful. The main issues they’re still refusing to deal with are bullying, retaliation and allowing bullying for certain students.

My little sister is in Y8 at this pathetic school and she’s been classed as disabled for a number of reasons. SMRT claims they have disabled access for anyone who visits the school and that they “want to help.” But my sister has been screamed at by teachers for being 5 minutes late because can’t walk normally. A teacher called Mr. White has also allowed students to bully my sister and calling her names such as “cripple” and my sister was told to “be quiet and deal with it.”

I also went to that school and I was severely bullied every single day. The teachers didn’t want to deal with it and carried on blaming me for self defence. (Aka the teachers expect a student to let a bully hurt them with no retaliation, they expect you to allow someone to you names and then report it.. It’s insane.) I’m not going to let someone hurt me or bully me. But even when bullying has been reported they don’t deal with it. They just tell a student to “not do it again” without any consequences. (In other words they don’t care about student mental health)

From 2013-2017 I had countless, useless meetings to discuss what was best for my needs as I was running away from school due to these teachers not dealing with the bullying at all. My parents were fed up of seeing me hurt myself everyday because of bullies, they were fed up of crying and so scared for my safety. Every meeting you could tell the teachers didn’t care nor wanted to be there to deal with the situation. Most meetings we’d leave with no resolution put in place.

I’ve had members of staff scream at me for wearing headphones KNOWING MY SITUATION AT HOME AND KNOWING I HAD POOR MENTAL HEALTH but STILL kept screaming at me.

It got to a point where I was sent to a mental hospital because of multiple suicide attempts BECAUSE of the bullying. And knowing my sister does to that school and these teachers have learnt NOTHING. Now my sister is becoming suicidal because of the same teachers.

I will continue to post this on this school reviews if I have to because it isn’t fair for students and parents/carers to continue being promised fake promises, false information and it’s not fair for students having to suffer whilst having demanding teachers who don’t give a damn about students’ mental health.

It’s true they have a councillor and learning mentors (LSA) who understand parts of mental illness, physical/mental disabilities but I know for a fact the councillors will not show any care (because they don’t and make you feel bad for self-harm, ED’s etc)

SMRT doesn’t care about any student safety when it comes to mental health unless they’re being threatened with OFSTED. Don’t send your child into this school if you’re looking for an easy way out.

It could be worse...

So I left the school about a year ago and looking back, the experience was alright I suppose. There were definitely a few teachers who were more supportive than others however there wasn't that sense of equality given that this is a school who claims to uphold Christian values. One of my issues is that after spending the past five years learning about religion and other religious groups they never really stuck to any of us. Therefore making it a struggle by the time gcses came. It also bothered me that we were forced to go to these services when not all of us used the same religious practise. I also wouldn't suggest going to the school nurse as the most she would do is give you an ice pack or just call home so you're no longer her burden. Another issue I've come across is that they don't really care about the students and more about how good the school looks through grades and this is a continuation if you do decide to go to their sixth form. I've had a personal experience when I was thrown racial slurs and the most they did to the student who said that to me was force them to give me an empty apology and isolation. However despite all this, the experience wasn't too bad it just could've been better for me mentally.

St mary redcliffe review

i left this year, and i miss it so much, the teachers were so lovely, i was a pain for them most the time but discipline was good, faith in learning was excellent, alive values were very important in the school, and i can honestly say they’ve taught me well. i do recommend this school. the only downfall to it is that sometimes i didn’t feel that equality was really there but apart from that i loved it.

SMRT REVIEW

The school is definitely one of the better schools in the city. I only recently left and even tho the school was pretty decebr obviously there is negatives such as the schools removal of the infamous pizza bagel and influx of hate some teachers, ie a certain female supply teacher, get for no apparent reason. I think the school should also be more inclusive to ALL students of ALL backgrounds as in some areas the lacks in racial Diversity.. Other than those points I think the school is pretty decent and if these changes were made I would hesitate in sending my kids in the future here

Cheers
