As a parent, I have been very disappointed with the SEND support at St Matthew’s High Brooms. Unfortunately, our experience has been far from positive. Despite the school’s stated commitment to supporting children with special educational needs, we have found the support for both our child and for us as parents to be lacking.
Communication has often been poor, and it feels like our concerns haven’t been taken seriously or addressed properly, when we have complained we have been “managed” or ignored on many occasions The Ofsted report states “Requires Improvement” and this is very accurate. We have struggled to get the right help in place, and it has been extremely frustrating and stressful throughout and school were not interested in supporting us to get the help we needed. While the school may have policies and processes on paper, in reality, the support just hasn’t met our child’s needs or our expectations.
Overall, we have not had a good experience with SEND provision at St Matthew’s, and I would caution other parents to be aware of these challenges if they are considering this school for their child.
