This school provided good pastoral care but the education element was poor, particularly with respect to hand writing. Hand writing was an area of concern that was flagged in the OFSTED report and standards were low (they may have improved since). Little genuine dialogue between staff and parent, inevitably resulting in poor communication and misunderstandings. The phase 'listen but not heard' springs to mind.
It is worth noting that the school's persistent absence (11.8%) was above the national average (8.2%). Surprising in a school that is in a very affluent area, has less than 100 students on the roll and prides itself on being a caring and nurturing environment. Obviously, not a positive experience for everyone.
