Bullying through the school and TBOWA's toxicity

I, a year 10 student, was pushed physically by a group of year 7's in the lunch line. Previously the year 7's have been known for pushing in and some tries to skip by going around me, this lead to others who were behind them thinking I pushed in and worked together to push me out of line. I decided lunch was not worth it and went to first aid because additionally I wasn't feeling well. I went home hungry and upset because this is bullying even if they are younger than me. A teacher was within a few meters but was so busy with the front of the queue they didn't care at all about the injustice near the back. The year 7's (not trying to be bias and am not the only one thinking it) should learn to get of their high horses. If I tell a teacher I become a snitch. By the way it was a rather large group and only one of me. It wouldn't be acceptable if I did it to them. Because I am an older year does it make it okay because i can "handle it" emotionally. This is not the first incidence although groups tend to vary. A few years ago someone in the year bellow me threw acorns at me and people sometimes find it funny to put things in my hair. I don't know any names or faces but this has got to stop. By the way Bishop Open days are a lie. It seems great for the outside and for some it actually works but don't have high expectations. 75% of my siblings and me have had it hard and I am pretty sure all of us have been bullied at least once. You may say its just teenagers being teenagers but it affects us mentally and bullying is a common disruption in TBOWA. The social hierarchy depends on bullying and lowering others esteem or smoking. A friend of mine can't dump her friend because if she does it is likely going to lead to rumors being spread about them

Key Points:
Bishop is TOXIC!

Wrong school to send kids

I am currently still in this school and they mistreat students with mental health issues severely they also do not care about children who have gone through traumatic events and just throw them in pheonix or iso and they also threaten to kick students out of school
I am disgusted in this schools behaviour it is so unacceptable then as the new term begun they hired someone new to run wellbeing and she is unsupportive and rude and kicks people out of wellbeing the only way u can sit in wellbeing is if ur crying on the floor
Please do not send your kids to this school unless u want to end up with depression

Many thanks

Overall definitely recommend!

I am currently doing my placement here as a trainee teacher, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. It’s a great school that has improved so much over the years. I’m mostly working in the English department and they have a fantastic supportive team, working with the students and colleagues here is definitely a privilege & rewarding.🙂

Lazy teachers, non communication, drugs in school and other issues

I would never have sent my 2 children to this school. They don't communicate anything. There are children with class A drugs in and on the outside of this school. They teach inappropriate content in Religious Studies. The teachers are very laid back, my son and daughter ( who was a prefect) hated this school. Finally finished with this aweful school.

LEAVERS ASSEMBLY DAY RUINED

I have 3 children that are currently at bishop and i am also appalled by the teachers attitude towards the children, so many issues we have had. Just today my daughter got to school for her last day for leavers assembly and the teachers were turning kids away because they never had their blazers, the kids had to go home and then come back and then they still couldnt get through the gates as teachers were refusing them to enter. (why should kids be made to wear blazers in this heat its 23 degrees today) Absolutely appalling behaviour especially on the kids last day of school, totally ruined my daughters last day as she never got to see her friends because the teachers wouldnt let them in. i am seriously looking at moving my kids out of this school

They are on the news at last!

The bullying and the attitude of the staff towards it was so bad that I had reported the school and filed an official complaint.
Nothing happened and now they are on the news due to students attacks.
It was only a matter of time, and i hope that finally this school will get properly investigated!

The Bishop of Winchester Academy: Summary from a former student;

The Bishop of winchester academy summary

As a former student of TBOWA, the bullying at this school is staggering, and rising due to the teachers ability to resolve issues, including the headmaster himself. When parents go for meetings (e.g., myself, and my best friends father) the principal denied any of the accusations of altercation between students that caused the bullying and us. He even tried to change the story saying we were getting along with students who were bullying us because he doesn't want the school to have a bad reputation, which it should. The ALT (heads of schools) and student behaviour team are appauling at resolving issues reported to them, some on multiple occasions with the same people, lack of training, lack of resolving issues, and lack of punishing. even YEAR 7's joining in 2021 are already experiencing bullying. Whilst we understand that all schools have some form of bullying, the year 7's have been purposefully pushed around and even STRANGLED by some year 11's because they think it is ok to do that as they are the oldest students.

Don't be fooled by the headmasters speech on open evenings as it all means nothing and not a single word of it is true. In a particular assembly I remember the headmaster saying "if i wouldn't want it happening to my kids it won't happen." I've never been so infuriated by something such as this before as he still has the nerve to flat out lie to the students he says he is here to help. Something he likes to say is "high expectations no excuses" so what's his excuse for being so incapable of dealing with issues that can be so severe that it is damaging to students mental health on a ridiculous level.

At the end of this, parents, guardians and careers please think very carefully about sending your own child to this school. This place is an awful and unsafe environment for many so once again, we urge you to think carefully and maybe have a conversation with your child warning them about the issues here.
