The Farnley Academy

Absolutely horrible school. Please do not send your kid here if they are neurodivergent, lgbt or anything that wouldn't be classed as the social norm of a mainstream school because bullying is normalised thing in this school and the teachers do absolutely nothing to stop it. They will get harassed, they will get hit and they will face multiple types of bullying. It happens in classrooms, hallways and outside of school and the teachers know this happens but what do they do? Nothing. They are a bunch of untrustworthy, lying people and they get away with it too somehow. Theres a reason kids are dropping out of this school and teachers are leaving. They try to cover up the state of the school with these fancy pop up events and big expensive rides which btw is only available to the people that go in every single day. They bash the people who aren't in 100% of the time, forgetting the fact kids have home problems, mental health and sicknesses to cope with. The absolute lack of care for the kids physical and mental health makes me feel genuinely sick. I used to be a student at farnley and it caused me to be completely broken down and even to the point of suicidal. I had multiple meetings with school and they dismissed my feelings like its a natural thing to do that to a struggling kid. Whats even worse is i got bullied for being physically depressed and bullying is what got me in that state anyway. It just didnt stop, i had to take myself out of school. And the harassment my family and i got from the teachers for having to leave school dispite it being them who caused it was sick too. The teachers are stubborn and so unforgivably rude and the students are just as bad. I have to get therpay to get over some of the harassment i got in this school and im still trying to get better. I could go on for HOURS on reasons not to send your kid to this school. Its an unsafe environment and its just not okay. Terrible school.

I would give it 4 stars as it is a good school and we get lots of opportunities here but we should be allowed to the toilet in lessons and in my opinion there are too many students and not enough classrooms/staff. We had a room change for French (GCSEs and all that) and the room they changed us to was taken so we ended up sat in the cantine until they managed to find a free classroom. But overall it is a good school

If I could give it zero stars I would have, however the one star can go to some of the great teachers who work their. There are some who are dedicated to the job, go above and beyond for their students but the problems come from higher up. The whole ethos and culture of school is toxic, negative and damaging. Not only ti children but junior staff too. Bullying, negative, impossible behaviour policies and terrible provision and support for SEN children

went for a little tiddiewinkle whislt visiting my son who was trapped there and there was shite all over the bathroom floor. Was utterly disugsted, would not recommend

This school has such a biased, useless and unreliable anti bullying policy and their priorities are most definitely not in check they’re so hell bent on controlling childrens uniform that they dont have time for anything else. on the topic of uniform even the rules for what kids can wear on non-uniform day are so unreasonable. Students or prohibited from wearing ripped jeans shorts above the knee, cropped tops, hoop earrings, false lashes, dresses, false nails and any type of makeup that would be have been prohibited on a normal day. notice how all these clothing rules target girls and femboys this is discrimination, this school is the one bullying people but they have the cheek to say that they do not allow bullying. on the rare occasion that they do care about bullying they refuse to listen to everyones side of the story and they do not read the statements that people accused of bullying have written. instead they read messages from screenshots knowing that if it wasnt a case of bullying and it just happened to be an argument the “victim” would have cropped what they said beforehand. when people try to explain the whole story they listen and a few minutes later act as if nobody had actually told them the full story. dont send your kids to this prison they call a school

My child has now just left The Farnley academy and I will warn you now DO NOT send your children here , my daughter would come home day after day with more in bullying incidents and as she was told “we will speak to this student” which never happened at all and was just swept under the rug! The headteacher cares too much about the look of the school that the students are disciplined over silly things like trousers , shoes etc, my child was placed into isolation over her trousers been “too tight” or not fitting in with ,if you shake the top of them the bottom has to shake . Absolute BS I tell you she missed out on an Alton towers trip over uniform not Behaviour uniform . THIS school is more like a military camp than a school and these children deserve justice . They are more thought as numbers than pupils !!!

This school is the most negligent with it students out of any possible in the UK. This school belittles and ignores students who cry out for help. The school plasters around its obnoxiously orange and childish posters about 'No tolerance for bullying' yet when a child of its pupil base brings up an issue it is disregarded. This school should instead say that it has no tolerance for individuality and the mental state of its students. As long as the grades for this school are high enough for the vindictive control of its headmaster they continue to see students as numbers rather than people. The safe guarding of this school is atrocious, instead of nurturing and helping students to thrive they actively destroy the mental spaces of any child from any year group, knowing what they are doing. The outcry about offloading in the recent ofsted inspections in the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the horrible things that occur on farnley's grounds. This school conceals every glowing issue with its infrastructure and PD system with large rewards for people in the 100% attendance club, which aims to lull the school population into a false system of trust, trust that is so easily betrayed by the majority of staff and school rules. This school is a place you should not send your children to under any circumstances, it is a prison of mental instability and ignorance. I would say there are redeeming qualities yet there are too little to create a list with, until changes are made this school is an unsafe, idiotic and controlling force over children in its student base.
Do not send your children here, it is a chaotic and rude mess.

Feral kids probably won't make much of a contribution to society feom what I have seen. Not all I'm sure but vast majority.Should also say school dont reply so I would firmly lay the blame at their feet.

This school is a fucking joke!! It needs to be shut down, the rules are absolute fuckin aporling. If I knew how shit this school is I would’ve never ever sent my child here! It’s too fuckin late now. Can’t go toilets during class hours? Phone rules r a joke ‘at least give the student a comment or detention’ instead of confiscating the phones for 2 days, maybe over the weekend if it’s a Thursday or Friday. Cutlery isn’t cleaned in the school, toilets r filth (smells, look horrible)

I'm wanting to move my son to another school as had very bad experiences with this school like no other EVER!
You cannot communicate with this school in 'urgent situations' such as your son having possible covid and needing to be sent home as noone bothers to ever answer the phone on any of thier lines! IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO COMMUNICATE!!!! They have NOT supported my family throughout this pandemic they have left what they should be offering like other schools do (covid tests etc etc) to OTHER schools! Basically my sons siblings school have offered the support they should have to THIER PUPIL! They do not show empathy to families situations because they do not care, they even got my name completely wrong!

I attended this school but has to move as it was so horrendous. They claim to deal with racism but when it’s actually called out nothing is done about it and is quickly forgotten and left. The amount of racism I had to deal with makes me sick and the fact that little was done about it is even worse when I had people threatening to beat me up for standing out against the racism.They care more about putting kids in isolation rather than their actual education, I missed a whole day of school as I was in isolation for forgetting my planner twice in the year. Please don’t send your children here, especially if you come from a non white background.

i used to think it was okay, but now after Chris Stokes came it's gone straight to hell. the food they provide is horrible and overpriced, profiting off of kids who have no other choice but to eat there. they cant even deal with racism, homophobia and transphobia appropriately and when students rightfully call out the school for their miseducation they deflect the blame back onto the students. they make themselves out to be this great school when really it's just horrible. they expect everything to be perfect all the time like seriously, these are teenagers, children, and they expect them to act like perfect adults. perfect uniform, not too baggy pants, but not too tight. not too big tie, but not too small. and on top of this, they always expect pristine behaviour and grades or they'll offload you to stephen longfellow. one of my friends isnt doing too well with school and the pressure the teachers are putting on her to be at 8s by the end of the year (even in year 10) is killing her. there are lots of issues in this school, i wouldnt recommend sending your children here.

I attend the school and think it’s absolutely horrendous student well being and mental health gets brushed under the carpet or punished and only ever recognised when the upset turns into anger. Students with anxiety get put in a dark room and left alone students have been known too self harm during school periods and have mental breakdowns students also are spot checked every morning too make sure everything is perfect and if something wrong you get put in isolation students can’t wear piercing and have bright coloured hair or were skirts above the knee when teachers come in with all sorts of piercings and dresses that you can see there underwear. During COVID-19 the academy have done nothing too prevent the spread of the deadly disease student from all year groups still mixed not all students wore masks and no one had sanatised rooms students were asked too sort it them selfs when rooms should of been cleaned before entering top classroom

Bull shit school, care more about throwing kids in isolation than there mental health and don’t think mabey somethings going on when someone starts acting up, but there’s some decent people who get ya out of trouble

Don't do hardly owt about bullying and give comments out for petty reasons like rubeing your eye and sticking up for a mate
