I feel it’s important to share our experience at The Little Lake, as it has raised multiple concerns over the past months that we believe other parents should be aware of.
1. Poor Management & Lack of Accountability
There has been a consistent lack of engagement from the management team. On multiple occasions, any feedback or constructive criticism has been dismissed or ignored. Communication is weak, and management often appears to avoid addressing issues directly.
2. High Staff Turnover
There has been frequent turnover in key staff positions, including room leaders. Parents are not informed when staff leave or when new staff take over, which leads to confusion and undermines trust—especially when it comes to important routines like child collection.
3. Health & Safety in the Pre-School Area
The garden/play area attached to the Owls (pre-school) room is cluttered with broken wood and exposed metal, posing a clear safety hazard. It’s alarming that such conditions are left unnoticed and unaddressed, leaving it to parents to identify and raise these concerns.
4. Unhygienic Feeding Environment
The room where children are often fed, which adjoins the outdoor play area, is not clean. It does not meet basic hygiene expectations and is entirely unsuitable for mealtimes.
5. Safeguarding/Collection Concerns
We experienced a serious issue with our son’s collection by grandparents—despite being properly documented and recorded with ID and passport. Staff, unfamiliar with proper procedure, refused to release our child, leaving us in a stressful and unacceptable situation while at work.
⸻
In Summary:
We cannot recommend The Little Lake based on our experience. Basic standards in hygiene, safety, and communication are not being met. Management lacks transparency and does not appear willing to address concerns. We strongly encourage other parents to explore alternative childcare options in the area.
