They don't take rape or bullying seriously

Got putten in isolation for months because of my rape and it almost felt like I was the one being punished and after a few months they randomly put me in all my classes again when I had really bad anxiety and did nothing when he was coming up to me in the corridors and making comments and shoving me they said to him he has to stay a meter away from me (like that's going to help) and he would still constantly harass me until he tried to get into a physical altercation with me so I defended myself and got punished for that. They did nothing about the people who were bullying me and physically abusing me inside and outside of school, after I told them I was being assaulted by multiple students whilst walking home from school they said it wasn't in school so they can't do anything, they told me to just stay away from them while in school which was impossible when there's a huge group of people who were harassing me, these people are also known for harassing other students too. They did the same to my brother when he was being bullied at this school years ago and it shows nothing has changed. The teachers care more about protecting the popular kids who make other people's lives a living hell because they talk to them in lessons, I'm tired of this school getting away with everything awful they do, yes I know there is only so much they can do but they aren't even doing the bare minimum for students in crisis

The teachers have 0 respect for the students and have shutters on the toilets.I don’t like this at all.

Absolutely terrible

The school is stupid. They used to give us 10 mins detention for being late, now they give us 30 mins detention for being 5 MINUTES LATE. The hot dinners are decent but you probably get obesity. The teachers are terrible and don’t give support.they don’t handle bullying well either. In anti bully week assemblies they will just tell us to not bully. And that’s it. That is all they do about it. The classrooms normally look like they were bombed and no one cared to fix them.when ofsted were coming in to rate our school we were rated good somehow. School probably bribed them.
I do not recommend going because it’s a waste of time

Recommend!!

I had been in this school since year 7 and stayed on for sixth form too. the staff were amazing when dealing with mental health etc, they offered so much support. certain staff members made me feel so understood and safe in the environment. each teacher goes above and beyond for their students. i wish i could thank every staff member for everything they’ve done over 7 years.
i recommend the whitby high school to anyone and everyone!

Do not go

Absolutely terrible
Old crumbly buildings and the teachers don't handle bullying very well so being there wasn't very good

Gay indeed

This school was well gay and it was full of scallys and scousers :( and most students were annoying little pricks but some people their were pretty decent. Just an average scummy port school tbh. They don't handle bullying well at all as well. The teacher's and staff Were pretty good but most students were annoying little pricks in honesty

Dog shit

Shit school. Very bad. indoor environment is old and crooked and stinks. some places haven't been repaired since the 1960's and people and teachers can be horrible. It's unfair with its punishments in terms of isolation and detentions.

Won’t be sending my youngest here

I carefully researched the schools in the area and chose this for a number of reasons thinking it would be the best for my children’s welfare and education. I without a doubt will not be sending my youngest here and the only reason I haven’t moved my children to another school is due to the fact that they are settled with friends and I’m confident they will get the grades they need due to their own hard work. Warning bells should have gone off during an open evening in which the headteacher welcomed everyone to the school but then proceeded to run off how he runs the school and as good as told his audience that if they didn’t like it to take their children somewhere else. These militant rants have continued on weekly newsletters and in school to the children directly. I’ve told my kids to keep their heads down, work hard and ignore this ridiculous behaviour. Everything seems backwards at this school, if they put as much effort into the real issues that matter as they do about uniform standards they could go a long way. The recent introduction of new skirts is something that springs to mind. Telling parents they agreed for new skirts when the question on the form was, ‘do you think the shortness of skirts should be addressed’, is not parents agreeing to a new skirt costing £25 each (almost triple the cost of the previous ones). This during a pandemic and in the newsletter followed by advise of where the local food bank is for struggling families is absolutely ridiculous. Good points are that over the years we have come across some lovely teachers/staff who clearly love their job and are good at it, unfortunately there are quite a few who aren’t and appear like the headteacher to have chosen the wrong profession. Sorry to say I wouldn’t recommend this school and I can’t wait for my children to leave.

Do not go send your child to this school I beg you

This school is absolutely awful do not send your child here I was bullied so badly there to the point I was being punched, kicked, followed home from school and they did nothing about this I had really bad anxiety to the point I was passing out in school because I couldn't take it when I asked for help they put me in a room by myself for weeks and did nothing but support the guy who s/a me there plus the teachers don't even have the decency to let you go the toilet I'd actually pissed myself once because they refused to let me go I could describe this school as hell

School is bad

No social distancing, uniform is ridiculous, care more about if you have a bracelet on than your gcses. Not allowed to wear masks in lessons despite being on lockdown when we can’t mix with other households outside of school, but remember we can’t catch corona in school.

My time at Whitby

I hated this school, teachers aren’t understand, care more about how students may disrespect teachers than bully, they do nothing about it and I was bullied for 3-4 years at that school, awful support, I got depression and anxiety because of the bullying that they could’ve stopped. The food is ok but not great doesn’t cater for many allergies at all. The school dress code is ridiculous. They care more about your attendance than mental health, and some of the teachers don’t do their best at helping with GCSEs, also they care more about how they look all together than any of the students. And just to top it all of ofsted had to do two visits last year because on the first there was at least 3 fights that day, and you aren’t allowed to give your own personal opinion about the school to ofsted you have to say how ‘good’ the school is or Mr Heely will give you a call into his office for giving your OWN personal opinion. Overall I have no clue why you would choose this school, anything is better than this hellhole.

Really bad school

Really bad no social distancing, not aloud to wear face masks which is out rages , girls are no longer aloud to wear belts because it’s “too distracting” I DO NOT recommend this school ever at this point in time. With this virus this school is not helping as I’ve seen the social distancing is just out the window they have put all the years in cages cramped together 300 kids! If one has corona then most likely everyone else will this school should keep shut right now and open when theirs not a pandemic due to how bad it is.
