Lunch time chaos

Every pupil to have lunch at the same time, 30 minute lunch break, it was closed by the time my daughter got to the front of the line. Went without food ! What kind of person changes a system that works to letting children go hungry ?

Please take your time to read this report.

I am a student of the wilnecote school and I want to say it is absolutely awful in there. From things like human rights not being subscribed to, to teachers getting in my face and screaming at the top of their lungs, I want to express the environment and thoughts of unprofessionalism presented through the staff and silly school rules.
I want to start off with a big issue.
1:The school catfish themselves to ofsted.
The amount of times I havent been let out of lesson to use the toilet is absurd, and, when I do go to use the toilet, as it is a human right, I come to find that the toilet is locked, but the lights are still on and nobody is in there. It is like a prison. As soon as ofsted enter the building, staff rush to unlock the toilet and I have spoke to a few teachers myself about it (the mature ones) and they have agreed with this fact. It is appauling. Using the toilet is a human right and should not be toyed with by grown adults, wanting to be in control and like to scream in teenagers' faces.
2:Teachers screaming in my face.
The unproffesionalism and aggressiveness from the teachers when they scream in my face for a small thing is absolutely loathsome. I am barely even a young adult and I have staff screaming down my ear as I am still trying to wake up, it is not fair. The school need to consider students mental health as much as they consider their own.
3:The headteacher has spent basically all of the school budget to spy on their students.
A few months back, we came in to school to realise there are almost 100 cameras, dotted around the whole school. At the end of each corridor, staring over toilet cubicles and even outside the school cameras still seem to show up. I feel as if I am trapped inside a tiny building and can not escape, making me feel like I am being watched constantly. They scare me. The school does not care.
4:The school's consideration to other students' wellbeing.
I have sat in the student's support numerous times, hearing people come up to the window, explaining that they feel as if they may have an anxiety attack, or they are going to break down over things that happen at home, or exams or any reason, and every time I see a student at the window, the staff do not care. They decide to scream at them as they aren't in lesson and they are mostly sent off with a detention, or worse, sent for the rest of the day in the 'refocus' room. However, this 'refocus' room is simply a big room, with no air conditioning, pure silence, no work and students are sat in a box all day, without right to put their head down and have a rest. A FULL day without education because of mainly a stupid reason. It is horrendous. I have even spoke to higher staff, such as SLT when my head was a bit wonky and everytime they have either blamed it on me or sent me back to my lesson. It is not fair.
5:The constant unsupply of permanent teachers.
My class have been thrown about, tested on as we have had substitute teachers all year, and this year is an important year to us. A few friends of mine do not know a thing about Romeo and Juliet, and the thing is, the school will not do anything about that. People get stressed and all the teachers do is send them out on a detention, without looking at the students' point of view and caring. They do not care for our education or well-being.
6:The uniform.
Some students are put in isolation (the 'refocus' room) as they may not be able to afford the correct uniform, which is clearly not the student's fault.
Also, my partner was in hospital because they have a few conditions which I will not get in depth about, and the school actually shouted at them in school for not being in. That is absolutely shocking!
I need to get to sleep because the school gaslight us for being late, so I will write the next issues in short sentences, to save my time and the readers' time.
The food is overly expensive and massively undercooked.
They do not provide decent education, and leave substitute teachers to sort things out.
They do not care if a student is tired and, once again, gaslight us because of it.
We have to spend thirty minutes of our life after school if we do not have a pen.
They tell us to be quiet in class and we can be loud at lunch and break, but people get put in isolation for being loud at lunch.
They excluded nineteen students for having a waterfight.
They do not let us drink water, or fill our bottles up, thirsty or not.
They gaslight the students in every thing that they can not control.
They once tried to send my friend's parents to court because my friend was on suicide watch, and not in school.

English teacher>>>>art teacher

Some of the teachers are really nice but some of them treat you like you're inferior some teachers are patronising and rude bullying is not dealt with at all and the wrong people get punished eg fighting back to bullies medical conditions are not always taken seriously especially mental health issues however the teachers that do are few but they are lovely the deputy head is very strict but fair and he is lovely when dealing with parents and mentally ill students they do not call 999 when needed unless directly instructed by a parent there are many teachers that cannot teach aswell as sexual assault allegations that have not been addressed with students and teachers I have been called selfish because of my illness by a member of staff and it has not been dealt with however particular members are understanding and extremely observant of pupils and notice when they are struggling the former head of the English department is the nicest person I have ever met disabled students are looked after and the SEN department is very high quality however if you don't have a diagnosis it is unlikely you will get help the uniform policy is too strict and students get penalised for petty things

It needs major work

After going to this school I can say it was not the greatest. The building is poorly made and in dire need of renovations, the hallways are narrow and impossibile to move in, tiles are missing from the cieling which leaves exposed wires. The heating is not great and the windows in the humanities block need resealing.

The food is foul, the only thing bearable was the chips on a friday or the desserts which were most times harder than rocks and felt like they would break your teeth.

They're very strict on uniform, only an inch or so above your knee is allowed for skirts, no ankles showing, no nails or makeup unless to cover up acne and no unnatural hair colours. The shoes do not allow for any colour, even if it's a gold bar, I got told to Sharpie mine or cut it off if I wasn't willing to get new shoes which rubbed me the wrong way since they didn't supply my uniform and a gold bar wasn't going to distract anyone.

They're activists when it comes to racism and such but the homophobia + transphobia is horrible. The F-Slur among many others have been used and they generally speaking are disgusted by anything that wasn't deemed straight. Alot of us stayed closeted during our time at Wilnecote in fear of being bullied by classmates for our preference or identity, something we can not control.

The teachers generally speaking weren't great and lacked the ability to teach students appropriately without reprimanding us for small mistakes.

The mental health side of this school was very bad, they claimed to support those with mental health but I never felt more alienated and at a loss in that school regarding my anxiety, it felt as if anything I said would be brushed off as if not important whatsoever and that I was lying or I needed to give my head a wobble, I never once had support from the school to help with this and that's what made school life so much worse for me.

I never once felt safe at Wilnecote and I would've moved schools if given the chance. Overall I don't think Wilnecote is a great place for many people and it can do with some work in multiple areas.

its not perfect

im not someone who gets in trouble and i think i could give quiet an unbiased opinion of the school. i dont think anyone thinks their school is perfect and i am definitely not one of them. the indoor environment is quite old, and needs a lot of refurbishing. their are ceilings without tiles which have wires going through them, constant leaks, heating doesnt work very well and in the humanties corridor some of the windows whistle. classrooms can be cramped at times, and classrooms tend to need refurbishing too with old carpets, broken tables&chairs, things hanging off walls (although partly due to students poor behaviour in respecting the classroom). although sports and music are very well supported for equipment which is a positive. i think teaching wise things are taught pretty well, teachers are very good in starting to prepare pupils for gcse. outdoor space is okay, huge field, there are sports courts as well. teachers are hit and miss like anywhere, some are okay and some are a nightmare. some cant control the class, some can; some will be in a bad mood for quiet good classes, some give out detentions for silly reasons (not behaviour related) but most are okay. lunchtime staff however are terrible, extremely moody, will shout at you for not sitting down when there are no chairs, will make you finish eating 10 minutes early and considering we have 30 minutes for lunch and usually 5 minutes late out of lesson, is not a long time to eat lunch. they get annoyed at little noise, which is annoying when teachers are constantly telling you can talk at lunchtime. will also rush you out of the toilets really quickly, where at the moment is hard because of having to use 1 toilet block due to covid and teachers will not let you during lessons unless for medical reasons.

they have a very good SEN department and are extremely good with supporting students with special-educational needs. kind and very understanding while giving as much independence to students as possible, with that added help that is needed.

they seem to have a support system in place for mental health, and constantly remind us about this, but no information on where or how to get this help? with covid things have moved around, and due to staff having to change bubbles, it is quite hard to find people, or people are often not there. due to not having tutors anymore there isnt really any close bonds with staff to talk about mental health. the school nurse is there but cannot find staff to book an appointment to them, and school nurse just tells you to drink water and use relaxing music.

there is a lot of activism around racism, which is great. however it is not the same for homophobia. students in my year will constantly use the f-slur, where there is no encouragement from staff to tell them to stop or educate them on the word.

the cooking staff are lovely, however food isnt the greatest.

they are extremely strict on uniform, and i get the jewellery and nails due to health and safety. but hair dye?? and showing your ankles?? and skirts above the knee?? these don’t distract students, and if skirts over the knee distract teachers then there is something wrong with the teachers, not students. hair dye isnt distracting, and neither is ankles?

before covid they did offer a good range of clubs, and did an amazing school performance each year. they also have many trips, which include subject trips or there is the ski trip, the french trip for french gcse students and the german exchange for any pupils. the german exchange is an amazing experience.

they hold a good range of gcse options.

this seems quite negative, but anything else about the school you can think of is probably positive.
