Ursuline College

Ursuline is know to be a great catholic school and one of the best in the area.

When I attend Ursuline I had situations after situations that the school didn’t help me deal with.

The teachers and other staff were unsupportive and I felt as if learnt nothing there.

Very unsupportive for young people with Special and Educational needs. Very little support for them.

Needs a lot of improvement

I have seen a great deal of negative things happen to this school over the last couple of years. The school has had four ***********s and none of them have positively impacted the school. Classrooms look untidy most of the time and the hallways looked like they need a good clean. Classrooms move around all the time so if you really want to take a five minute walk from building to building and up and down stairs all the time this is not the school for you.

Bullying and Homophobia is either not dealt with properly or not addressed at all. It has caused many people I know to leave the school. This needs to be sorted out, especially when students have told a house manager only for it to be ignored, then end up in a fight the next day.

Most of the teachers, who have been at the school for years, have left due to the behaviour of the students. This being said, some teachers who specialise in certain subjects are being forced to teach other subjects in an attempt (which i believe) to force them out of the school when they don't agree with a certain policy. This is not good as these subject specialist teachers are really good at what they do and go out of their way for the students.

Mental health is only addressed when you literally cry out for help. Students are not told who to speak to if you have a problem. Often, when you do approach someone, they don't act on it. They will only act on it when something really bad happens.

I can understand when the school tries to implement a new policy however sometimes it is ridiculous. For example, we can only have dark coloured jackets. Policies at the school change all the time and there is no way to know what you can and can't do. I have seen teachers be discriminated for not enforcing the policies when it has nothing to do with learning.

The school penalises anyone that wants to express themselves. All nose piercings, jewellery, painted nails and dyed hair are not allowed in the school. It's understandable that the school wants to improve its appearance however, it's not acceptable when a student has made any of these "offences" that they are forced to line-up in front of other students and made an example of. I have seen this happen multiple time and honestly it makes me sick.

I remember back when I was in year 7 when the *********** used to go around with a ruler and measure the girls skirts,******* **** ************". She left shortly after. The current *********** is not for the children and doesn't go above and beyond because it is beneath her.

The only enjoyable time I have had at this school was in the Sixth Form. It gave all the students more freedom in how they study. However, one thing that I don't like is that the Sixth Form students had some of their privileges taken away from them, such as having a phone on school site, almost having no freetime outside the school at lunchtimes and wearing different colour jackets. The schools excuse: if the rest of the school sees you do that, then they will do it to.

Most of the year 11 and lower years are very disrespectful towards the Sixth Form students and the teachers. It appeared to me that the school doesn't care about well-being. It only cares if you get good grades.

I hope that the school will see this and will take the time and effort to improve the school because the potential is there. If it wasn't for some of the teachers being polite and actually caring, I would have left a long time ago.

Its okay, i guess

This school is alright, ive been here for 4 years now and theres been many problems
Theres been new headteachers practically every year and now the new one is a strict teacher that isnt the best with dealing with situations
I was bullied a lot in all the years of me being here
And what did the school do? They said they'd look into it but nothing happened, my mental health is in absolute ruins, especially with all the stress of my exams that are soon
The teachers dont really care, some do, my form tutor is lovely but other than that, you're screwed, they are either too busy or we are just overreacting.
They control us so much, especially recently, they drone on and on about our uniform, especially girls and their skirts but they allow us to wear short skorts that barely cover our uhm, backsides?
We arent allowed to go to the toilets during lessoms which is understandable sometimes, but when girls are on their periods, we still arent allowed, it is apparently an excuse to go to the toilet which is really out of order to say, we cant control our bodies and our cycles
I have tried to get the schools attention to change things but they dont pay attention
Also, boys are girls are treated and disciplined differently, which is okay if its certain circumstances but one of the things the teachers say is 'you know how they are' or 'they're boys, what do you expect?'
I try talking about things, like introducing more thimgs that may help our mental health but when i said that to one of the teachers, she said i was biased because of covid 19, like seriously? Everyone has suffered one way or another, some more than others
Which is an even better reason for them to improve the school and introduce things that'll help
Anyway, i hope my rant has enlightened you

Really good school

I really love this school, I have only been here a short amount of time but I get song with all the students and teacher are very supportive and always want to help you do your best. They give reasonable amount of homework and are focused on doing the best for you as a person. I would recommend this school, facilities and teachers are great.

Ursuline

So much control over the students we have no fine we can't even run at break and when we ask to go to the toilet it's usually no i have been at this school for two years and I have had 3 head teachers so many teachers leave I'm guessing it's because it horrible there they are always finding new ways to control us yesterday a teacher said to me I did not give you permission to speak bare in mind it was break like what I don't need her permission to speak I am a my own person they seem to forget we are still children and need to be creative and have a fun life not be controlled all day they give us so much useless homework I think we should be given homework but not so much we have a life outside of school and I don't think they really care as long as they are getting good grades out of us they have no care in the world for our mental health my friend had a panic attack yeatwrday and they told her to take a sip of water they never ask if your okay or not I've when your sad the only goof thing about this school is the aria it's got lovely feilds and a nice Chappel lawn are school specialises in sports so that's a plus if you like sports
