Inclusive and high achieving

In terms of positives, Walton has really pushed me and helped me to believe in myself academically when before I thought I'd be nowhere. I joined in year 9 and now in year 11 my grades are incredible. From consistent 4s and 3s, to 6s and 7s all round. There is so much support academically and it's a very high achieving school. It really gives you a chance, no matter your background. I guarantee you that if you try your best here - even if it's the bare minimum - you'll still succeed. However, I think that there is definitely a pressure to do well which has increased my stress levels.

Most teachers are hardworking and caring however there is a lack of support and understanding when it comes to mental health and bullying. From my experience they don't take those things so seriously unless you have a parent backing you up. One of my friends spoke to a teacher in confidence about trouble at home and they called home to ask if there was trouble and obviously the answer from them was no. Most things like that aren't dealt with well.

Walton is a safe space for queer and POC people, it's difficult to find anyone openly homophobic or racist and if they are, they're not popular (there are plenty of popular queer people). It's safe to be who you are. Although, there is definitely work to be done to be more inclusive to trans and gender non conforming individuals. Dead names are still sometimes on registers and they're also on exam papers. It is safe to transition as many people have and even if some are cruel, people at Walton are mostly genuine and will back you. Most students and teachers are educated on queer, social and humanitarian issues and there is an open dialogue. That's my experience with all 'girls' year 11 though.

Consider bringing a pack lunch because on multiple occasions myself and others find hair in our food.

In conclusion, quite frankly, I think this is the best school I could have ever attended and I really needed it to get where I am now.
Wish me luck for my GCSES in the coming months!

Underwhelming

Not impressed at all. Some parents are happy, I am not. Daughter hardly gets homework. Asked for pastoral support over something got nothing back. I know a busy school but still. No faith in things improving. I wish previous Head of School stayed.

really bad school

they dont know how to handle bullying

all teachers have favourites and obviously the popular ones are most liked

teachers don't know how to control their anger

half the teachers cant actually teach

they are more bothered about reputation and uniform than actually educating us

they have good food and the dinner ladies are the most polite people you will meet though so thats a plus
