The teachers

Teachers are always arguing with students and saying "we care about our students" when most of them definitely do not. They believe we should listen to adults and keep quiet. Just because they've lived longer doesn't mean they have more superiority.

Wardle Academy

Bullying is everywhere, teachers are just straight up hypocrites, bad kids get acknowledged when they do something good, bullying happens in the classroom with the teacher in it, can’t go to the bathroom at all if your 5 minutes late they don’t hear you out and ask you why. Need more music and drama teachers people aren’t respectful or responsible

It's bad.

Currently as a student there, it's bad. It had slightly improved throughout the years but a LOT more has to be done. For example, recently they have changed the lunch menu and changed lunch time into 'one setting' personally I don't like it because it's 1200+ people having to get lunch and being squashed in the corridors. Another thing is that they absolutely DO NOT care about your mental health. They even frickin made an anonymous complaining service on their website. I just think that why pretend something you just CANT do. And the worst is how much they mention the 'wardle way' like we get it, but why shove it down our throats constantly? It's so frustrating. And why does the school spend so much money on music? I'm not saying it's pointless but like half the school doesn't care about it anyway. And the maths department? They are understaffed and do not have enough resources. The MATHS DEPARTMENT, where you're supposed to gain very important skills "well let's just spend half of our money on music and Technology, it's not like they need maths for their GCSEs" like what? Maths is so important yet they underlook it the most. Wardle academy, maths IS important! Oh and dont even get me started with the supply teachers. They are so unqualified. They have no knowledge about the lesson they're covering and expect you to go and listen to them, its as if they're there to get their check and have a little moment of dictatorship, literally. They will act like they have the most power over you, make you do the stupidest things and don't worry, they will make sure you DO NOT learn anything. Oh and they will leave thinking they have done a good job just because they've kept you in your seat for an hour. See the problem? Because I DO!!

Lastly, the school bus, the fricking school bus. For 'some' reason they have removed it. Why? Because the council doesn't want to pay for it - or maybe the school has something to do with it. I don't really know. But they have left many having to walk to school for an hour since they can't get the school bus prices anymore and there is NO bus. Before we had a big double decker bus, that would get us to school on time at a 'reasonable' price. It was the only decent thing back then. Now? It's madness, you're supposed to get the 458 which ANYONE gets on it, so, if it's full, you can't get to school. And also it has a much longer route so you need to wake up much earlier just to get on 'time'. Oh that's the thing, you won't get on time. The bus gets you late, always. Unless you wanna be there half an hour before school opens, obviously. (Which is very frustrating)

why does every school have a dedicated school bus except us? Well I don't know. But that shows how bad of a school it is. Before even if we had year 11s vaping and doing weed, or year 8s and 7s vaping and screaming, at least, we had a bus. It's like they are purposely being progressively worse with time. As if that is their goal! Its location is bad, the staff is bad, they act like it has world class facilities when this school has just got enough room for a big field and a 3g pitch. Oh and they will constantly remind you of how we 'need to look after our school' it has just about 10 years since first built, it's not new and it's very damaged.

Here in this school, you can't win. You just CANT. They will single handedly make appear every problem in the entire humanity just to get you to hate your life there.

Wardle academy, please do better, just please. These are just SOME of the actual flaws this school has. I regret coming here. Its so out of place and you never feel like you learn. Its just The same thing everyday.

Improve!! For God's sake, improve!!!

Awful school

as a neurodivergent student here i can say from a personal experience it is relatively bad, I am currently in my last year there and am very delighted to leave in may. They shove revision down our throats and while saying they care about our mental health they in-fact prove on multiple occasions they don. i have only recently receive support for issues in my wrist which was never acted upon due to my multiple years of mentioning it because of my 'neat' handwriting' the SEN department is falling apart.
another thing is the outright mess the classes are. as someone with sensory issues I see on multiple occasions teachers irritating the problematic students then punishing them for their actions. this causes a lot of stress for other students in the class.
They shove the Wardle way down our throats pretty much, and even made the teacher presenting it to mention it during a HOLUCAUST ASSEMBLY which was extremely disrespectful.

adding on my experiences as a trans person in this school. little to no education on what is appropriate to say/not say has been mentioned. I have been called multiple slurs to my face even around teachers and almost nothing has been done, I personally do not feel safe around a majority of people in my year group because of this lack of education.

to finish off I'll add on a more recent issue regarding a friend of mine, a male staff member gave her a detention due to her holding her skirt down because it was very windy that day, he told her it was inappropriate to do so. he told her it was inappropriate to hold her skirt down to stop it flying up.

much improvement needs to be done regarding this school and if you are considering going her, don't.

Needs alot of work!

In my opinion the school is “mediocre”. The detention system is somewhat unfair, teachers take advantage of the system. Bullying is not taken care of whatsoever, ive had many incidents of which have happened right in-front of teachers and nothing has been done. On the school bus the conditions are horrendous! The year 11’s smoke and do drugs and absolutely nothing is done about it. Students always make fun of eachother and treat them differently if they arent the same as them. On another hand, im vegetarian and at dinner there are almost no options other than cheese sandwiches, jacket potatoes, plain pasta and pininis - i have the same dinner everyday. Finally, popular kids get way more attention then quieter kids, the pe teachers favour them and it’s extremely obvious. - A few more things ; The male teachers can be extremely stereotypical, for example in pe someone had their hood up and the teacher said he doesnt care if we want our hair safe, they also had their hands in their pockets and he said they dont care if they want their nails safe - and i know for a fact they couldnt care less about their appearance. Another thing would be that the school always brings up The Wardle Way - however it has no impact at all! Its just another phrase that everyone ignores. The school also spends alot of their funds on the pe department and the English department, it cares more about them than tackling discrimination and bullying - the teachers try to set exaples however they are the most problematic. Eg a white teacher said the N word and protected themselves by saying they where reading it therefore it is fine - which anyone should know is not the case.

To summarise this school needs alot of work asap...the teachers are the main issue - which is a big matter because we are talking about a school, they favour students, dont listen, are selfish and make us feel guilty and over all completely assert dominance over us and make us feel like we are owned by them - they tell us to be ourselves and express ourselves yet they tell us who we can and cannot be. The school needs to step up its game.

Could be worse

The school clearly favours those athletically able. They prioritise the P.E department over bullying, discrimination and literally anything else that actually matters. A white member of staff has said the n-word.
The food isn't that great, but it could be worse.
It's clear and obvious to tell which department is favoured and receives most funding; which is the English department. They have a podcast and overall get more attention than any other subjects, other than P.E.
The teachers are biased and purposefully pick on the more problematic students, agitating them and blaming them for their behaviour.
They always find any opportunity to reference their 'Wardle Way' which is so simple and easy to understand a newborn monkey could understand it. An example would include using a certain religion to promote their 'Wardle Way'.

Pretty average

Teaching is actually ok, there is i high turnover of staff, especially in the English department. As a student, thats sucks. The nuhope system, our detention system, doesn’t work at all in my opinion and teachers clearly take advantage when they can. Bullying isn’t managed very well but the act like they do. Hair, jewellery and makeup rules are pretty ridiculous. Tue head staff need to listen to student alot more when they complain about a teacher. I have a chem teacher who is absolutely USLESS and i have told multiple teachers about them and nothing has followed through. Overall i think the school is pretty average, nothing really stands out about the school unfortunately. Could do with alott more improvements xx
