West exe school .

The school is so terrible I do not recommend it at all the toilet rules are so stupid and unnecessary and the bulling is so bad there and the school teachers do not do anything about it and they also care about the uniform more then students mental heath and the food is absolutely disgusting my children say and the learning there is so bad they would leave a child sat there for most of the lesson to be stuck and they get a lecture as they don’t do the work .

It’s not good—

Lack of care for most students wellbeing, claim they have a “strict anti bullying policy” despite not doing anything against bullying. Overall an alright atmosphere yet a horrible place to be, they can also be quite embarrassing. Also, in lessons they use “cold calling” (calling on someone w/o hands up) which is extremely anxiety inducing. Even if you ask them not to they claim it’s “part of the school” and say that you will “have to learn public speaking for a future job” even if you have anxiety etc.

Not good

Not great

West Exe School only cares about statistics and not actually teaching children, will place students in 'reset' for the smallest of things essentially pulling them out of lessons because a student wears something minorly wrong. West Exe likes to believe it has changed but all it has done is change a few rules and add a new uniform. The senior teachers never listen to a student's opinion and will often disregard all opinions if it slightly differentiates from the rules in place. The teachers have often stated that the rules and expectations put in place are far too extreme and interfere with education and true learning. All subject teachers are wonderful and do actually care about student's education, the senior staff often don't.

Worst school

I was bullied at that school for a year for
Being a little overweight and all they did is told me to stay away from them but continued to put me in classes with these said people. I was beaten up multiple times.

The terrible west exe experience

My time at west exe so far has been abominable. There is no system for getting rid of bullying and there is a culture of older students verbally and physically harassing younger students. I write this review because last week, my wrist was broken in an attack from an older student (who is still unidentified) and the school have handled it terribly. And earlier today, on my way out of school, a whiteboard pen was thrown at my head by a year eleven. The school also has a disregard to student mental health and their rule enforcement system is seriously outdated. The food is also terrible. It is overpriced and flavourless. This school has been one of the worst experiences of my life and I strongly recommend avoiding it. This place has deceived so many people into thinking it’s a good place, and I just hope this review might help save someone from five years of suffering. I am seriously considering leaving this school

Worst School In The UK

I genuinely have nothing good to say about this school. I went to West Exe for almost 2 years and my time was NOT enjoyable. I spent my first year at West Exe being bullied and whispered about and that isn't a good feeling. It was reported to the school an unbelievable amount of times and they did nothing! They do not educate the students well and do not give them the options of how they want to learn — e.g. I have been told by my friend that during her class a student asked the teacher if autism was a disease (which it isn’t!) the teacher approved of the student saying it leaving the class uneducated. Diversity at West Exe isn't treated correctly either lots of diverse students are bullied mercilessly and the teachers do nothing about it. They have an unrealistic standard for uniform too if you are missing a single piece of uniform you will most likely be given a warning, a demerit or sent to borrow something which some students might not be comfortable with! Individuality is unacceptable at West Exe in the eyes of students — they don’t allow light makeup, jewellery or anything that might “distract boys/girls” is a lame excuse and they should either let people be themselves or get better reasoning. I’m not saying, students aren't going to comment on those things but not everyone is like that. Thankfully I am now homeschooled but to all the parents wondering if they should send their child to West Exe I advise you not to even look around.

Terrible school

The school is absolutely terrible. Nobody should go here. They do not support students whatsoever and do nothing to deal with bullying. They care little about students’ wellbeing. If you’re thinking about going here, it’s a bad idea. Run while you can.

Not Great.

School is not accepting of students and diversity and does not care about the mental welfare of students. Uses phrases such as "Reasonable Request" In order to make students orderly. Poor quality food charged at extortionate prices. School uses online platforms where you are required to get questions write without much support.

Uses an out of date system to make students comform to unfair rules in order to impress future student's parents. Great teachers which often comment on not liking the "Expectation" System, making it useless if teachers don't agree with it. WAY too much homework. I often stay up until about 7PM just doing homework with minimal access to support.

The School environment is okay but the school really needs to change before students start wanting to come to school in the morning. School shutdown a peaceful protest being made by students which is a breach of the UDHR which they teach us in school and are yet to follow the right to a peaceful protest. The school dont understand that when we enter the school we still hold our rights as an individual.

West Exe- a school that i have mixed feelings of

I’m a current student of West Exe School currently during lockdown but I had a fair experience with West Exe already.

The school is amazing when it comes to education. It prides itself with it and the standard of education does actually reflect what the School shows on all its websites.
However the way they achieve it is horrendous.
Most of it is because of the ‘Expectations’ of the lesson -which comes from the old Ready To Learn system - a set of rules where you are told how to behave in the classroom. When you breach one point, you are given a warning, a second will result in reset (also called the Isolation room). This is where you are placed and you have to complete the work independently or work from a Knowledge Organiser we get at the beginning of the cycle. The theory sounds perfect, and it does work to some extent, but it isn’t consistent. Some teachers forget to write the warnings on the board, if a student deserves it. Some send to reset straight away, with no warnings (and this act is only accessible when a student really causes harm to the class safety). I am in higher sets meaning that breaches aren’t often occurring.
I’ve never been to reset, but from many recalls, the standards are terrible.
The detentions are horrifying, possibly even more due to the fact that you’re not allowed to choose whether you have detention for the last 10 minutes of the break or the beginning, meaning that the food in the canteen has ended...

I have now complained, but it isn’t only negative there.
The School actually considers the students’ opinions and it changes accordingly, if the request is considerably decent.
They’ve recently removed the doors from the toilets, for safeguarding reasons, which I dislike, as it interferes with privacy as any teacher can enter discretely and call you out if they think you’re there for a longer period of time.
They do pay attention to which set you are in, and compare your results with the rest of the class and see how you perform, taking action. This I find really helpful as we have all the same level of knowledge more or less.

The standard of education is really good, and they actually care about your future.
Currently, during home learning, we have a full day worth of learning to complete, ranging from live sessions to normal lessons online. I am a student that values this, and the school calls home if a student doesn’t engage in home learning.

From the aspect of education, I would recommend West Exe as I know they deal with crisis situations (like Covid 19) really well.
However, this isn’t the only aspect and the behavioural issues could outweigh the positives as truly innocent people can end up being there and the rates of successful appeals to return to class is really low.

All other areas of the school are unfamiliar to me and I don’t want to express opinions on something I’m not aware of.

Serious mental issues with westexe

A school that has potential but ultimately looses. Has 0 respect for the student even though they constantly "pride" themselves for it. there is no flexibility with uniform. If you have the wrong colour socks you get sent home. The entire technology ward was essentially gotten rid of (even though westexe "prides" itself as an advanced technological school). There are many rules which are simply noncense. The homework is unfathomably poor. Sparx is a nightmare and drains my mental health and if you miss 1 question you have to have 2 detentions. The teachers are generally nice (at least my teachers) although there are a few which are horrible to be with (although that is possibly only a few). The mental health level in school is shockingly poor. Also possibly the worst part of Westexe is the fact that it's 'consideration for mental health' is abysmal and non-existant. My friend was having an extremely tough time mentally and my friend confided in a teacher via email. Before the teacher even replied that teacher sent the students email straight to another teacher which the next morning dragged out of class and asked many questions about their mental health not to Benifit the student but so they could tell that students abusive mother immediately that they are transgender (but hadn't come out to their mother) and not that mother has rejected my friend as a person. Now my friend has suicidal tendencies and does not trust the school at all (and neither do I). Does that sound like good handling of a student's mental health to you because it certainly doesn't to me. Westexe is a hole of depression frankly and that is the best way to put it without containing explicit language not for the faint of heart. Westexe has destroyed my motivation for "higher" learning and simply only cares about the "knowledge" being shoved down students throats for self gain. Westexe is simply a dictatorship and gives no regard to it's student population at all unless it Benifits the school. Westexe also "prides" itself on being extremely anti-bullying although this is absolutely non-existant from what I see. I have been bullied and pushed to being suicidal because I felt the school would not help at all and I believe it was plainly obvious I was being bullied during class yet the teacher did not ask how I was doing one bit. My will to learn is at nothing. There is only 1 class I look forward to all the time and that is music because I am incredibly passionate about music and it simply is the only thing not stopping me from killing myself at this point. Another thing is how TERRIBLE the food is for lunch now. It was good until the beginning of this academic year then suddenly it turned SHOCKINGLY POOR. It's simply in-edible for me. I only like the pasta pots and Fridays fish and chips. Anything else is utterly disgusting and I can't eat it. Also it is incredibly expensive at times for example drinks are way too expensive. Pushing onto another subject about lunch and break, its was too short and you feel like there is no time to yourself, especially when you join westexe from a primary school as the breaks and lunch are just enough time to eat. Also detentions are often during lunch do the student does not have any food, even for a 10 minute detention there is still no food left in the hall as it has all been sold by then. In conclusion I don't like westexe and it doesn't like me... Nor my friends, or frankly anyone who is a student. There is no student voice and no trust towards the student at all. For Christ sakes they took the doors off of the bathroom! I really hate being at westexe as there is no self gain. Just Terrible mental health and no enjoyment or want to learn.
