Privacy and rules.

Wood ham academy is a hood schools and probably one of the best, the grades are hight and they have good teaching. But, at break/lunch teachers only guard the female toilets but not the male, and I don’t think that Cameras in every toilet is very good, toilets are meant for privacy and not for teachers to be spying on you all the time. I just think that overall it’s a great school but they should start evening out girls and boy rules most rules are only for girls.

Very hit-or-miss - brilliant academics just awful student support

I’ve nearly finished my 5 years at Woodham and I can say that the manner of teaching is great, I’ve gotten very far grades wise here. However, behaviour team is lacking in how they treat homophobia and sexism. A perfect example of this is sexism within the behaviour team:
There has been a vaping problem in Woodham like many other secondary schools for the past year and the behaviour team has resorted to having a member of staff stand outside the toilets and occasionally check in every so often to see if anyone is vaping. Sounds normal, right? Until you find out this is only done with the girls toilets and by a male member of staff (with addition to a camera in these toilets which is over a toilet stall).

Back to the topic of lacking support for students, I mean the mental health side of things, poor home and school life etc. Woodham academy’s student support team will turn a blind eye to the students which ask for help and choose to stick their noses into irrelevant matters that have nothing to do with their jobs.
Example:
I have a friend who used to have an issue with wetting themselves, this was none of the schools business yet the support team decided to take this friend out of lessons to ridicule her about how ‘childish’ she was.

And finally, the crème de la crème, the way the behaviour team treats bullying is atrocious. I personally have been harassed by a girl my age for the entire time I have been at Woodham Academy and no matter how many times I complain or bring it up the behaviour team brushes it off and tells us to ‘try get along’ instead of punishing the girl or at least speaking with her.

So yeah, Woodham Academy is very hit-or-miss, grades and education wise it’s the best in the area but how students are treated at times can be awful.
