Don’t send you’re kids

don’t send you’re kids here horrible place horrible environment teachers that say nasty things to you and expect it to be okay
not aloud to wear certain clothes “because the boys need to not be distracted from the girls in tight leggings” also the girls not being aloud to wear a certain type of skirt can’t go to the toilet unless you’re teacher signs you’re planner if you don’t have a planner they will not let you go into the toilet. Break and lunch a teacher will be standing outside the girls toilets staring in and it’s not only women that do it it’s men aswell, the boys get a couple checks but not near enough as much as they look in the girls.

The worst school I've ever been to.

I went to this school many years ago and clearly, it hasn't improved since judging from the newer reviews.
I was bulled to the point of attempting suicide and the only teachers that cared were the ones that were either let go by the school or were in once a week. I begged the year 9 head mistress for help but she shrugged off my concerns and said (along the lines of) "if you don't have evidence of the bullying, we cant do anything." when she or someone else could've easily looked though the CCTV that is in every corridor and class to find the proof. I learned nothing from this school, all the teachers (in my experience) didn't care and I've learned more about mathematics and English outside of school than I have here. this school is a cess pit, they make every student buy an iPad meaning all students have unrestricted access to the internet at all times. when I was attending the school students would ALWAYS show pornography or live leak gore videos in the middle of class to other students on their iPads, it was so common I didn't think it was weird until I left the school. this obviously kickstarted many students with pornography addictions or a skewed view on what the world is really like. I don't know if its still like this, but I wouldn't be surprise if it was. they would punish students with up to a week of suspension for failing their GCSEs and they push you way too hard, this isn't university, this is a secondary school. I genuinely think they conduct this school more as a business than they do an educational centre, judging from the extremely expensive uniform and the the fact you NEED an iPad to do simple tasks that can be just done with a pad and paper. this school was hell for me and I would strongly suggest not bringing your child to this school unless you want them to become mental. I've went to many schools in the past and hopped from one to the other and this is by far the worst, it should be illegal to conduct a school like this.

Bad school

As a former student of Writhlington I am advising all parents to think before you send your child here. I am year 11 and left half way through year 10 I was constantly bullied by both students and teachers, teachers would laugh in my face at my problems and told me they did not care if my mental health was bad .
I got threatened to be excluded because of my mental health and one teacher in particular told me and my mum he did not want to hear any of my problems anymore . This left me in the dark and I felt like I could not talk to anyone this school made me want to die and I’m so glad I left

Honest review of Writhlington School

As a student of this school I could NOT advise you anymore to keep your children away from this school, I have experienced years 7 through to 13 and this is what I have to say. First of all if your child may struggle with school, whether that is getting good grades, behaviour issues or motivation to complete work. I am glad to tell you that zero support is offered apart to the students that make the school look good, the high achievers which is a very very small percentage (considering the real "smart" ones would not choose to attend Writhlington School). However because of the new found Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership it means that all schools in the local area are infected with the plague that is the mentality that Writhlington School carries. To sum it up, it is clear that this school is set up with a business mentality, meaning the priorities are School image, rating and reputation > Student welfare.
Speaking about the (lack of) student welfare, there is next to none. The ones in need of real support are neglected and isolated, made to deal with their problems on their own, most likely stemming from the system of Writhlington School, including myself.
This goes without mentioning the failure to address world issues such as Racism, Sexual assault, Xenophobia and Bullying, seemingly having a laissez faire approach, meaning to "let it be" and the problem will go away itself. These are only a few of the many many reasons you should not be associated with this school.

Please do not go here.

I spent 5 years at Writhlington and I didn't enjoy any of them. About half of the teachers try their best, the other half suck, and you can pretty much give up on senior leadership. Bullying runs rampant and the teachers do absolutely nothing. I left for sixth form and that was the best decision I have ever made. The one good thing I can say about it is the facilities. Don't send your kid here, especially if they're queer or have mental health problems. But hey, don't worry - if your kid doesn't have mental health problems when they join the school they definitely will by the time they leave!

Writhlington Secondary School

I have spent four years attending this school (I am in college now), and I can say truthfully, and with my entire heart, that this was - single handedly - the worst decision I can recall ever making in my life.

My first issue, regarding the 'safeguarding' team; having ignored many worries, reports, and pleas for help, the three main teachers given these positions of authority are clearly abusing this power, and continue to fail any student who seeks reassurance and help from their so-called 'safe space'.

My second issue, regarding punishments. 'HUBs' (after school detentions) are given for the tiniest mishap, personally I have never experienced a detention, however it would take a visually impaired person not to see how easily isolation and other punishments are handed out to the best and worst students alike.

My third issue, regarding unexpected (and surprisingly tolerated) behaviour from teachers. Beginning with a direct quote experienced by myself, a science teacher used the phrase 'w*ndow l*cker', furthermore, each male P.E. teacher has had his own problems, for example many have made comments relating to the female's group being 'more aesthetically pleasing' than the male's, and telling bullied, and isolated LGBT+ students that they 'should've expected' to be kicked out of changing rooms, and more I could list.

These are only a few of the issues I could personally list about Writhlington School, any other student could happily agree; switching to Mendip Studio School was the best thing I could've done to salvage my own physical and mental health. Please do not send your child to this school, especially if they have extra needs (as the SEND team are horrendous), or LGBT.
