please don't send you children here

School is shit, teachers don't care about you honestly. I was so sick I could barley breath but they still made me do cross country even though i was still complaining. i got sent to the collage office and told i wasn't going to pass my GSCE for sneezing.
teacher once picked there nosed and touched my hand for no bloody reason. collage staff nearly ran me over staring at the phone. i was so mentally destroyed i just stopped trying for my grades theres no sense of fun or good in this place,

Good times

I enjoyed it, much better under JT as head than before. It’s a fun, buzzy school, where all get along fine.

Not a safe or positive environment

I am a former boarding student at Wymondham College. The education is fine, I had some really good teachers but some very poor ones too. The facilities are good but I would say this is where the positives end. The atmosphere, especially in boarding is extremely toxic. Bullying is rife and sexual assault and rape is common, which the teachers know but do nothing about, failing in their duty of care to children. I would never send my child to this school. The senior staff prioritise image and grades above all else, and mental health issues are not supported and are very common, particularly in boarders. Whilst I was a student, one of the students attempted to take their own life, which several other students witnessed. The incident was never mentioned by staff and no support was offered. Several people reported incidents of sexual assault and bullying, again with no support being offered or nothing done about it. Whilst boarding allows you to make incredibly close friends, it also creates an incredibly pressurised and toxic environment, and can ruin mental health. The good reputation of this school is not worth the reality of being there.

Horrendous

There is absolutely no denying that the education that this school provides is incredible. However since the new headmaster became in charge, everything else has gone down hill. Day students (non boarders) are belittled and bullied by boarders, but generally in a verbal way which cannot be dealt with. Mental and physical health are not a concern in the slightest for any of the senior leadership team. Money and grades are the only priority. Physical violence is incredibly rare but would result in immediate expulsion, however sexual assault is commonplace and rarely dealt with effectively, but covered up in order to preserve their image.
There is no school security, it would be very easy, especially in the evening, for someone to abduct a child, and one day it is bound to happen.

Good education but has its flaws

Boarding experience was great, as a state boarding school, it’s a nice blend of classes and people- I have many many lifetime friendships. It’s not ‘posh’ but the education is great. I did not achieve below a 6 (B). Nor were there any physical fights in my 5 years being there. However, it is becoming quite authoritarian and is changing into a more controlled school- constantly focusing on 6th form dress code and less on wellbeing. Do a lot of research on boarding schools and how it effects relationships at home, because i did become disconnected with my family which made it difficult once i left.

Wymondham college

To much online work over the course of lockdowns, the measures they put in place to help students don't work, they are proactive against things like bullying, but don't do enough to look for it, the same goes with mental illnesses, they rely on being told, which never happens. They need to teach teachers how to look out for someone who is down.

Good school, sometimes teachers don’t give you all the help you need if you are struggling a bit, but the is an amazing family and lovely atmosphere, everyone gets on and it is a great community
