don’t send you children her for there own well being

i am a current student at this school, and from my experience the teachers here like to drain kids, put loads of pressure on them, make there mental health worse and give big punishments for the smallest of things. In my eyes most teachers in this school prioritise work and attendance over mental health, so many students in this school are drained and are filled with stress and anxiety. I was bullied and still am , the first time i told nothing was done the second time they made it worse and not handling it in the right way, some students here make racist comments, really bad name calling, harassment, chucking things at others and a lot of other things (yet they do not get punished except for a simple talk with the head of year who tells them to say sorry and once they did it gets worse because they know they can get away with it) Another thing is the toilet situation there is toilets in english block, maths block, and d&t block. In english and maths block there are around 7 toilets for girls and 5 toilets for boys and in d&t there is 2 for boys and 2 for girls, the english block is for ks3 and d&t block is for ks4 while the maths block is for everyone. But most of ks3 uses the maths block and currently the d&t block is shut off (even when it’s not people sit in there the hole break and lunch) so at are free times the only toilets that are free are the english block that has a teacher guarding it so that no ks4 students can use then bearing in mind students can’t go to the toilet in lesson time with out a toilet pass (human rights????) I feel that toilets should be used by anyone and everyone or even they give the ks4 students the maths block toilets and have a teacher guarding so that ks3 cant go in, for it is only fair. A few days ago maths toilets where packed and so where d&t so i went to english block to go to the toilet ( there was only 10 minutes left of my lunch break from me waiting the hole time in the toilet ques that did not end up moving let alone i hadn’t even had food yet) when i got to the english block the teacher was not letting me go in after i asked nicely and told her about the massive ques she then carried on saying no so i got ‘argumentative’ and ‘defiant’ in the end i ended up going and was in and out later on in that day there was a email sent to my mum about the situation but the teacher had said i had called her names (lying to my mum and other teachers) and because of that i was put in isolation for a hole day(a.room with a text book and no help basically learning nothing) all because i needed the toilet big punish for a small and petty reason. I feel that teaches do not listen to the students sides of things and will only agree with there colleagues which is not fair. The teachers need to realise that school is not the students only priorities, they put way too much pressure on them and do not give them time improve even when a student makes loads of good choices the teachers will pick out the bad bits and punish them when they should be rewarded. If your ever thinking of sending your children here please think about this because my mental health has worsened due to this school and there rules. Thanks for reading and i hope the school takes this into consideration.😊

Tewkesbury academy doesn’t help their students

All they care about is atendance and behaviour they don’t care about our mental health in fact they ruin it.they use the smallest things like going to the toilet when your not supposed to , then use that against you to put you in reflection ,in reflection they lock us in the room for the hole day and we are only aloud out to use the toilet witch is unisex and absolutely smells and probably does not get cleaned.they put text books in front of us and give us no help whatsoever, the work in the text book has nothing to do what we are learning in lessons witch therefore does not help us and is a waste of a day of education.this school is completely draining the life out of students and they don’t care they just need us in lessons.

Unacceptable school

Tewkesbury school or now should I say Tewkesbury academy is an absolute joke. The teachers are rubbish at their job and abuse their power, my classmate got ‘cool down’ all because he asked to go to the toilet. The behaviour of some students is despicable, and To be honest I don’t blame them as there is nothing better to do. Girls are publicly addressed that their skirts are too short and needs to be pulled down, male teachers are doing this too not just female. Only good aspect is the food but then that’s acceptable by a degree. If you are a parent looking to send your child here. Don’t. Choose a different school. The ofsted rating says it all.

Lack of help

The school doesn't take anything seriously, if you're getting bullied there's no point telling anyone because they won't do anything or just give one lunchtime detention for 10 minutes and expect that solved the problem. Teachers are also a massive problem, they act like you don't deserve any respect, some teachers are manipulative, refuse to help and openly flirt with kids in younger years. The lack of help for disabled students is disgusting, if you're not the stereotype seen on the media; you're never getting help. In fact you'll get kicked out if your attendance is too low. What a pathetic school.

awful school

if i could rate this worse then 1 star , i would .
this school has an extreme problem with bullying , the uniform is so strict
why don't you stop looking if my skirt above my knees bothers you so much ?
the people at student reception really don't care about mental health and just tell you to go back to lessons .... also , if you get food in the canteen you will end up lining up all lunch to get food and at the end it turns out there won be any good food left because they cant be asked to restock it , also if you don't have our landyard on you that day they most likely wont serve you . but the food is actually good ( brownies , sausuge rolls , popcorn chicken , chicken burger , cookies , pizza , hash browns , the chocolate french things )

Only the odd nice one.

As a Student of Tewkesbury School I would like to make one thing clear, some departments of the school are great fun even if you dislike the subject, however there are some departments which have barley one or two good teachers. The language department only had one very nice, friendly and an all out brilliant teacher who even if you hate the French subject, she made it fun to attend her lesson, she left after my first year and we are left with unengaging and strict teachers. For some information, I am a male and even I feel like there is a problem of sexism, girls have strict uniform policies such as, their skirts can't be
too short and they are publicly told to pull them down to "an appropriate length" and if they choose to where trousers, unlike male students, the girls need to wear school branded trousers, and they are harassed by some male members of staffs and if they report them, the staff member doesn't do anything. The issue of bullying and fighting isn't really an issue and if there is a "fight" it is barley a tickle and they are not even punished severely to make them never do it again however ,today alone, there were two fights in the same lunchtime within 5 minutes of each other, two boys headbutting each other and punching, and two girls pushing, shoving slapping. This isn't the only time where two fights have happened in the same day. If I may also add, teachers are always there when you don't need them such as when you want to Pratt about with your mates and have a laugh but when there's a fight at lunch they are in their department offices drinking coffee gossiping and even then the fight is two three minutes in and then ended by their FRIENDS pulling them apart. The school needs some improving and I dread every morning waking up going there. I do not think that this school should be your first choice. You would be better driving from Gloucestershire to Aberdeen for better education.

It's a pretty shit school tbh

4 years I've been attending this school. Nothing changes. The bullying, the teachers do absolutely nothing about it. The teachers, some are really nice people but a lot abuse their power and they're just horrible people. The head teacher spends all the money on new flashy buildings and gates nothing on the food which the prices for the food are ridiculous. I was waiting to be collected from school and I was crying I suffer from anxiety and depression and I just wanted to go home upon waiting I'm still crying the head teacher sees this and immediately points out my uniform! Nothing about my current state not a simple "are you okay" no just uniform. The amount of uniform issues are ridiculous teachers spend so much time during lesson complaining about our uniform, we get no individuality. Tewkesbury school you really need to sort yourself out man this is ridiculous and you wonder why kids dont want to go to school? Yeah sort your staff out and the way you handle kids. Your sexist rules, your poor handling with bullying, your support system, uniform rules countless other issues NEED TO CHANGE.

Good education, bad support system

I’ve been a student at Tewkesbury School for a while now and it has been a whole rollercoaster. I’ll start off with the positives: some of the teachers at Tewkesbury school are amazing don’t get me wrong, they deserve to be working at a better school. They spread positivity and they’re really good at their jobs. However Tewkesbury school has little support for those in situations such as bullying and their rules are straight up sexist. I’ll use my situation as an example because I don’t think it’s fair to bring up anyone else’s experience when it’s not mine to share. A year or so ago, I was dealing with horrible, sexual posts being shared about me online. The police were involved and I informed the school in hopes to get support because I was struggling being in the environment knowing that one of my peers among me was making disgusting posts about me and I didn’t know who. However after emailing one of the deputy heads and member of the safe guarding team, they didn’t even reach out to me to ask if I was ok. Not only that but the uniform rules are terrible. Upon my first day of yr11, first thing I was greeted by was a teacher who I won’t name physically moving my blazer to tell me my skirt was too short. It puts girls down and being called out in front of your whole class that your skirt is ‘too short’ is literally public humiliation. Much love for the teachers who need a promotion cos they carried my school year <3

Secondary school

Good school, has some down sides. Not much support. Fair amount of bullying not dealt with. Good education, great range of subjects. So many nice teacher. Buses hired for to and from school are horrible and dirty. Ok in general. Some aspects better than others.

discrimination

not terrible in general but they have a horrible system about reporting discrimination or bullying. 2 years ago i was getting called a terrorist by classmates and getting made fun of because i am asian and i reported it to the ‘safeguarding’ teachers, and they did LITERALLY nothing, not even contact the boy who was doing it despite me giving a full name and tutor group. another incident, this year, a boy was saying various slurs including the t slur used against trans people and the f slur against gay people, and using it as an insult to people that fit those catergories. me and some friends gathered screenshots and evidence of this but he got one lunchtime detention, and no further punishment. as far as i’m concerned, he is still doing this. less than 2 months ago a TEACHER was making racist remarks about chinese people. me and my friend decided to try and tell another teacher about it. this teacher told me to tell someone on the safe guarding team yet again. so i did, and he said he would tell the teacher not to do it again. for reference the teacher was making comments about their accents, impersonating them, making fun of their surnames, eg: ling etc . the school really does need to improve on their actions upon this behaviour. it actually quite shocked me that they didn’t really care that a staff member was being offensive, but other than that the school is ok i guess. not being allowed to take art AND textiles for gcse is quite annoying though.

bit trash ngl

This school is okay but it can be so pathetic. Like one of my friends they had a side cut and she got told off by staff members but as soon as this guy had it no one said anything. Teachers call SLT on you for just wearing a coat on NON SCHOOL UNIFORM day. What a pathetic reason to punish kids for. Members of staff are abusing their power. As I said it can be a nice school but they never deal with bullying or fights or anything really. It's an okay school ig.

Good at educating but have sexist rules!!!

I mean it's not bad at educating you and has some great teachers but Christ almighty are some of there rules dumb! For a start uniform is not only expensive but sexist as girls have to wear logoed trousers or skirts whilst boys can wear any trousers and we once had an assembly telling all girls there skirt length was distracting and inappropriate! Whilst we were leaving the assembly MALE teachers were sat with a clip boar check if girls skirts were to short!(which is very inappropriate as I hope you wouldn't want a male teacher looking at you daughters arse!) I have come out of school with amazing grades but overall hating the school because of its many stupid and sexist rules!
